This document discusses India's National Food Security Bill. It aims to provide subsidized food grains (rice, wheat, coarse grains) to over 67% of the rural and 50% of the urban population through the Public Distribution System. The bill guarantees 5 kg of food grains per person per month and will cost an estimated 1.3 lakh crore rupees annually. It is intended to help address issues of starvation, famine, and food insecurity that persist in parts of India by ensuring affordable access to food for vulnerable populations.
