2. THROUGH THIS COURSE…
I have learnt how to:
• Use extensive editing software such as Adobe Premiere,
After Effects and Audition to create and enhance my
films.
• Use professional lighting equipment, learning the
different types of light that should be used to create
mood and atmosphere within film shots.
• How to create storyboards, giving my filming a sense of
direction and organisation.
• Use the dark room, going back to pre-digital film
developing.
Before this course I had a basic understanding of some of
these points, therefore I have leant new skills that will help
me in the stages of making my final major project.

10. Paranormal Documentary
4. IDEA: FILMING PERFORMANCES
(ENTERTAINMENT)
• After brainstorming and looking at many different types
of performance and entertainment that I could film, I
decided to go with this as my FMP theme.
• Examples of performance/entertainment:
Music
Dance
Magic Shows
Circus Acts
5. • I then researched into how these types of performances
have been shown in films:
By looking into these films and directors, I was able to see
how they captured these performances, giving me ideas
of camera shots and how they transition together to
create a performance.
6. • I then experimented by filming a couple dance
performances, only videoing from one camera
angle so that I could film the entire performance.
<< Ballet performance
Hip Hop, Street Style
performance >>
7. DEVELOPMENT: STREET
PERFORMANCE/ENTERTAINMENT
• I then started thinking about the idea of street
performance and how I would be able to film
live acts and show the ‘in the moment’ reactions
of the audiences.
• Definition: Street performance or busking is the
practice of performing in public places, for
money etc.
• I then took a look at many YouTube videos of
street performance to get an idea of what
performances have been filmed and how,
• My further ideas were then to film the street
performers in Covent Garden in London and
hopefully create a montage of all the acts, and
possibly creating a documentary film style to it.
8. DEVELOPMENT: FLASH MOB
• From street performance, I then researched into filming
flash mobs.
• Definition: A flash mob is a group of people who assemble
suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and
seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then quickly
disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment, satire,
and artistic expression.
• I then found some that are happening within the next few
weeks in London that I will film.
• My idea for this came from the film Friends With Benefits,
where the directors show two performances of flash mobs
at famous places in New York City, Times Square and
Grand Central Station:
9. AIM/CONCEPT
• The aim of my film is to show how people come
together to either participate and or appreciate
the art of street performance, and showing how this
has become a sort of culture around the world.
