Our IdeaOur project is going to be a highly interactive
visual based instillation consisting of three short
films which will focus individually on the three
different aspects that we feel contribute to the
‘Story Of Hip Hop’.
These elements will be:
1. Hip Hop Music
2. Street Art and Hip Hop Culture
3. Hip Hop Dance
Three Short Films:
Hip Hop Dance:
• Shake Dance Academy as our
contributors
• Filming in rehearsals/backstage/ maybe
performances – catching them in action
• Interview with the creator – Rachel
• Interview with Shake Academy pupils
What this will show:
• Provide contrasting views on Hip Hop
• It’s current place within society as
Rachel the director has fought to
teach people about Hip Hop and its
culture
• The pupils growing up in a culture of
its mainstream popularity
How Are We displaying Our
Work?
1. Timeline
• We are keen to educate and inform our
audience and thought the best way to
do this would be through a timeline
• It will provide our audience with a
concise overview of how Hip Hop rose
to popularity and how it’s continuing to
do so to this current day
• Our timeline will be displayed at the
Pavilion
• To the right is our research into
timelines when thinking of our
design
• We decided our design based on
the Maldon Salt website, below
right, which will allow users to
click a date, and then view to
film or photographs linked to
that date
• Allows us to keep within our
aims of being highly interactive
• Using an IPad stand to allow
users to play around with the
timeline and read it at their own
pace
• It provides a unique viewing
experience for them

Our Space
• We are going to use 2 boards, 7ft
X 5ft, and the other 7ft X 7ft
• The letter ‘H’ marked out on the
floor will be where the Ipad stand
is
• The two ‘X’’s will be speakers
Recce locations • Wall by Sixty Million Postcards
• The Pavilion and our space
• Random spots around town for
photographs to create our
posters and use for
templates/generate ideas
• We are going to Recce Shake
Dance Academy on Monday 23rd
Feb
• Emailing different graffiti artists
and awaiting responses
