magazine about. I also havewanted to makea
magazine onthis subject in previousprojects
however, decided todo anothertopic.

you?
I think thatit will be an interesting subject to
create a magazine on. I find subjectsto do with
crime very fascinating to learn about, and
therefore think thatI will enjoy this project more,
since it is somethingof my choice.

One of the influences thatlead me towards
choosingthis subject was documentaries, on
serial killers and crime as well asa book thatI read
called True Crimes by RobertJackson. I will most
likely research moreinto these "True Crimes"
booksandread some moreas well as look at the
one thatI have already read. I want to research
into massmurderersand serial killers for a
potentialmini article in the magazine. I will also be
researching famouscults and lookingintothe
dangerousonesfor a potentialidea.
What effect do youwant to haveon your
audience when they see yourproject?
At first glance I want them to be drawn tothe
cover of the magazine, and then when they begin
to read what the magazineis about, I would like
them tobe interested in it; as crime magazines
are notreally about, apart from the oddcouple.
When they look throughthepages I want themto
find the magazine's stylevisually satisfying,
because the style will suit the topic, and will draw
the personto the page, tosee what the page has
to offer. I also want them tobe shockedwith the
crime thatI am focusing on, therefore that makes
the reader want to read on andfind outmore.
Describe the tone/mood/styleofyourproject

The concept of my project is to create a crime
magazine, that focuseson a particular cult of my
choice andone infamouskiller. I will have the
main focus of the magazinebe the cult, meaning
thatmost pageswill be dedicated tothe cult as
well as the main image of the cover being related
to the cult somehow, whether thatbe the
membersor the location where the cult
committedthe crime. The style of my magazine
will be related aroundthe subject of crime, so for
example one of the pageswill look like a police

on the time when the crime happened. I will make
each of the pagesdifferent and I am hopingto
make at least two or three of the pageslook like
an extract from a journal. I want the pages of the
magazine tobe as different as possible yetbe
related to the subject of crime and nothave some
randomwell photographedimageon the page
thatdoesn't fit the style. I amalso hopingto have
fake bloodon some of the pages or oneof the
pages toofit the theme even more. The magazine
itself will be quite dark stickingto the theme. One
idea that was presentedto me was tosteal and
incorporatethe 'Se7en' movie openingcredits and
addthat into my magazine. However, I will use
this as inspirationandmake my own versionof it
butfor the magazine, on paper. Interms of the
language usedin the magazine I will keep it
professionally worded butin some cases I will take
extracts from victims, and the killer andhave
them in the magazine, as well as a cult member. I
want the magazineto be interesting to read, soI
will try notto have large blocks of text. The idea is
to makethe pages so different from oneanother
thatthe text will seem interesting to read because
of the pages style.
Why have youdecided to makeyour project in
this style?
I havedecided tomake my magazine in this style
because I don'twant it to be generic and boringto
look at, havingeach page the same or similar
would makepeople lose interest very fast.
Therefore makingthe pages havetheir ownstyle
will make people more drawnto it. I also decided
on thisstyle as I thoughtthatit would be a
challenge tomake. Itwill help me become better
at print. I have never really tried anythingtothis
extent before in other projects even the fanzine
project. Another reasonfor my decision, is that
then the pageswill be varied andthey will seem
totally different from the last.
