Metadata Matters! What it is and How to Manage itSafe Software
The world is awash in data. So how can you find and know that the data you have is the data you need? Metadata. It's the data about data, and it plays a critical role in the management and automated processing of spatial datasets.
Traditionally, metadata is managed in two ways: (1) it’s not being managed at all, or (2) by filling out tedious forms or hand editing XML documents. Either way, metadata is usually accompanied by groans of frustration.
But what if we told you it didn’t have to be that way?
Metadata management done right ensures your organization is using the right data for the right purpose.
In this webinar, learn how you can manage metadata directly in your workflows. With FME, you can automate metadata updates to improve data quality and organize datasets. Plus, you’ll never have to fill out another boring form.
Stop spending time searching for incorrect data. By automatically managing metadata, you can enjoy quality data the moment you require it.

Smith Electric Vehicles collects large amounts of telemetry data from its fleet of commercial electric vehicles. It was initially storing this data in a MySQL database, but faced issues with availability, capacity, and processing the data quickly enough to meet business needs. It addressed these issues by implementing a message queue to buffer incoming data, sharding/partitioning the data across multiple databases and tables, optimizing queries and indexes, and moving some processing to the cloud. These changes allowed it to reliably process over 1.5 billion data points per day and provide live dashboards and export reports.
Overcoming the Complexities of AIXM with Model Based Data IntegrationSafe Software
The Aeronautical Information Exchange Model (AIXM5) is an open standard that was designed to exchange information, (like airspace, navigation aids, runways, etc.) between databases, messaging systems and GIS.
For any data exchange system, dealing with the volume and variety of data can be a challenge. The AIXM5 standard is also rather complex. Many AIXM users find that sharing, visualizing, or integrating any of that data can be difficult.
But it doesn’t have to be. In this webinar, learn how you can use data integration with AIXM to:
- Extract, process and build AIXM objects and geometries
- Overcome object to relational difficulties
- Migrate from AIXM 4.5 to 5.1
- Easily manage schema changes and extensions
- Automate validation and updates
- Integrate with web services and messaging applications
By automating data transfer with AIXM and data integration, you can both improve internal operations and ease regulatory compliance.

This document discusses taking source filters in Oracle's Financial Data Management Enterprise Edition (FDMEE) to the next level. It presents two case studies of customizing source filters: 1) For a Universal Data Adapter extracting from SQL, dynamically setting a filter parameter value to include all entities in a division. 2) For an HFM extract, dynamically setting dimension filters based on a user attribute value. The document explains how to build custom filter values in a BefImport script and update the parameter value at runtime to make it dynamic rather than static. This allows more flexible filtering than the out-of-the-box capabilities in FDMEE.

Reducing the gap between R&D and production is still a challenge for data science/ machine learning engineering groups in many companies. Typically, data scientists develop the data-driven models in a research-oriented programming environment (such as R and python). Next, the data/machine learning engineers rewrite the code (typically in another programming language) in a way that is easy to integrate with production services.
This process has some disadvantages: 1) It is time consuming; 2) slows the impact of data science team on business; 3) code rewriting is prone to errors.
A possible solution to overcome the aforementioned disadvantages would be to implement a deployment strategy that easily embeds/transforms the model created by data scientists. Packages such as jPMML, MLeap, PFA, and PMML among others are developed for this purpose.
In this talk we review some of the mentioned packages, motivated by a project at Time Inc. The project involves development of a near real-time recommender system, which includes a predictor engine, paired with a set of business rules.

This document discusses Infobip's journey towards enabling real-time querying of aggregated data. Initially, Infobip had a monolithic architecture with a single database that became a bottleneck. To enable real-time queries, Infobip implemented a lambda architecture using Kafka as the real-time data pipeline and Druid for real-time querying and aggregations, achieving sub-second responses and less than 2 seconds of data delay. This allows real-time insights from ingested messaging data while GREEN remains the batch/serving layer.

Relational Database Stockholm Syndrome (Neal Murray, 6 Point 6) London 2019 C...confluent
Relational databases can become rigid and limit flexibility over time as data needs change. This can lead to services becoming tightly coupled and difficult to independently deploy (Relational Database Stockholm Syndrome). The document discusses an alternative approach that uses a distributed log (Apache Kafka) to store data as events, with domain-specific services processing these events independently. This allows for greater agility, flexibility and independent deployment of services.
