This presentation discusses leading an educational institution through a cultural shift towards adopting open educational resources (OER) and practices. It notes that committed leadership is needed from those in student-facing roles to ensure a successful transition. When an institution promotes OER, it leads to increased pedagogical choices, improved access, and greater student ownership over learning. The presentation aims to get attendees thinking transformationally about engaging with OER through the summit.
2. • When an institution decides to promote open
educational resources and practices to enhance
student equity and achievement, a cultural shift
begins. To ensure a successful transition, committed
leadership in student facing functions both in and out
of the classroom are needed. This shift towards open
leads to increased pedagogical choices and access that
ultimately gives students greater ownership over their
own learning and success. This keynote presentation
will launch the attendees into transformational thinking
as they engage with OER through the summit.
