1. Computer Animation II
Mr. Downs
Assignment #1
Due February 3 2011
Flash
You are to create a advertising banner and place it at the top of an HTML page.
The product or service you adverstise for is your choice. The banner must
contain:
● One motion tween with Alpha (fade in and/or out) effect
● One motion tween with motion guide
● One shape tween
● An imported bitmap graphic (does not have to be original work). Can
be .jpg, .gif, .bmp, etc.
● A button to link to this Flash assignment page. The link must occur within
the flash animation...not the HTML.
This is your artwork, not art you've taken from others. Do not use any of the
objects given by the common library built into flash. The content must be within
one .swf file for display; do not link to other .swf files to view one of the other
animations. You can have more animations than specified but be sure to include
the three.
Grading
● Creativity is good but not rewarded.
● Labeling - using appropriate terms and/or symbols to relay a clear
message.
● Overall Feel - must look and 'feel' like an advertisement banner.
● Meeting Requirements - whether the afore mentioned requirements are
within the file (motion tween with Alpha effect, shape tween, etc.)
● Neatness - layers should have appropriate labels, no unneccessary
keyframes, no broken tween lines in the timeline, etc.
Specifications
● Each of the 3 types of animations must be at least 10 frames long.
● Must have at least the three types of animations in your file.
● All motion tweens (not shape tweens) must use symbols...not broken
or grouped objects or the plain imported bitmap. The bitmap must be
converted to a symbol if it's going to be used in a tween.
● Separate symbols into different layers.
● The button must have text and be created within flash. You must
distinguish between the up, over, down, and hit states. The button must
link to this assignment page.
● The button must be in the top layer of the .swf file.
● Set the frame rate to at least 20 frames per second.
2. ● Use only one bitmap graphic.
● The .swf file must be embedded within an HTML page within your labs/
assignments directory.
● The animation must loop.
● Use Flash MX on Windows 2000+ to create the .swf file. Anything else,
and you will not get credit.
● Do not use Flash MX 2004!
Notes
● Don't hesitate to refer to online tutorials for help.
● Don't hesitate to email me or come by the office.
● Flash's built-in tutorial gives great explanations.
● Shape tweens require broken objects.
● A transparent box for text buttons makes them easier to select.
● I am not checking for conformance to the HTML standard (i.e. loose/
transitional or strict validity)
Turning it in
Post the .swf file on the web embedded within an HTML page in your
assignments directory. Send me the .fla file and the URL of the animation. Do not
send anything else (i.e. .swf, html, etc.). Like all projects in this class, this is an
individual effort. Should you have any questions about this assignment, ask me.
