This document reports on the discovery of 5 new butterfly species found in Bangladesh. Field surveys were conducted from 2012-2014 in Dhaka, Pirojpur, and Cox's Bazar districts. The 5 new species recorded are: Tarucus balkanicus (Little Tiger Pierrot), Prosotas bhutea (Bhutya Lineblue), Freyeria putli (Oriental Grass Jewel), Cephrenes acalle (Plain Palm-Dart), and Abisara bifasciata (Double-banded Judy). These findings help update the knowledge of butterfly diversity and distribution in Bangladesh.

As far as species richness is concerned, the family Libellulidae is found to be dominant among Anisoptera whereas species of the family Coenagrionidae is dominant among Zygoptera. Our observations support the importance of this region in providing valuable habitats for Odonata.

Three new records of copepods (Siphonostomatoida) parasitic on marine fishes ...DrNajimRKhamees
Three parasitic copepods (Siphonostomatoida) belonging to three different genera were recovered from marine fishes of Iraq, and are listed here as new records. The sea lice Caligus epinepheli Yamaguti, 1936 (Caligidae) was collected from the Japanese threadfin bream, Nemipterus japonicus (Bloch). It had been frequently reported from teleost fishes around the world. The second record, comprising male and female, was another caligid, rarely caught from fishes – Hermilius longicornis Bassett Smith, 1898, collected from the giant catfish, Netuma thalassina (Rüppell). This paper features the first description of the male
of the latter species. The third record was the lernanthropid, Lernanthropinus temminckii (von Nordmann, 1864) (Lernanthropidae), redescribed based on the specimens collected from the greater lizard fish, Saurida tumbil (Bloch) (Synodontidae). In order to clarify its taxonomic status, our specimen was compared with the holotype of L. gibbosus (Pillai, 1964) from the collections of Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata, and the syntypes of L. sauridae Do in Ho and Do, 1985 and L. temminckii from the collections of the Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C. We found similarities in the morphology of the body, mouthparts, and legs 1–4 in three above-mentioned species. The prominent feature, the setation pattern of legs 1 and 2 was similar in all the female specimens examined. In the light of this, we formally relegate L. gibbosus and L. sauridae to synonymy with L. temminckii. Another important similarity is that Lernanthropinus gibbosus, L. sauridae, and L. temminckii have exclusively been parasitic on lizardfishes (Synodontidae). The attachment site of all three copepods reported form Iraq were the gill filaments.

During the present field survey, a specimen of Lycodon mackinnoni over a stone in a field around 7:30 am on May 24, 2015 was encountered near village, “Nai” (33o 5ꞌ 32.73ꞌꞌN; 75o 42ꞌ 30.25ꞌꞌE, at an altitude of 1824 masl) of District Doda (J and K, India) situated in Shiwalikas, the lower mountain ranges of Himalaya for the first time. The current surveillance of Lycodon mackinnoni is the first record and also a new addition to the faunal list of Jammu and Kashmir state, India. Additional we suggest that awareness programmes needs to be conducted concerning these creatures conservation strategies at current locality and for that every individual should understand that the safety of these creatures is an important aspect in the protection of these species.
Designing a Rule Based Stemmer for Afaan Oromo TextWaqas Tariq
Most natural language processing systems use stemmer as a separate module in their architecture. Specially, it is very significant for developing, machine translator, speech recognizer and search engines. In this thesis work, a stemming system for Afan Oromo is presented. This system takes as input a word and removes its affixes according to a rule based algorithm. The result of the study is a prototype context sensitive iterative stemmer for Afan Oromo. Error counting technique was employed to evaluate the performance of this stemmer. The errors were analyzed and classified into two different categories: under stemming and over stemming errors. For testing purpose corpus which is collected from different public Afaan Oromo newspapers and bulletins is used. Newspapers, bulletins and public magazines are considered as consisting different issues of the community: social, economical, technological and political issues. This will reduce the probability of making the corpus biased toward some specific words that do not appear in everyday life. to make the testing set balanced. According to the evaluation of the experiments, it can be concluded that an overall accuracy of the stemmer is encouraging which shows stemming can be performed with low error rates in high inflected languages such as Afan Oromo.

Butterfly on the Island Bacan North Mollucas Province; How DensityIJERD Editor
Bacan Island is an island in the administrative region of South Halmahera, North Mollucas Province. One of the biological richness of the region, it is Diorama butterfly. Potential diversity of butterfly in Bacan Island and surrounding areas, requiring require ecologically and molecular studies as a database in the preservation and conservation of the species and its habitat. The purpose of this study is to assess the density and distribution of species of butterfly in Bacan island. This research method is done in several stages, including: a survey to know the various species of butterflies in Bacan island based on morphological characters, sampling (identification and manufacture insectarium), as well as measuring the density and distribution of species of butterflies were observed. The results showed that there are 34 species of butterflies and 424 individuals / ha were collected in 4 Family in Bacan island. Density of butterfly species in the study area, respectively from highest to lowest is Catopsillia pomona species (IVI = 14.97%) of the Family Pieridae, Hypolimnas misippus species (IVI = 12.87%) of the Family Nymphalidae, species Appias albina (IVI = 12.40%) of the Family Pieridae, and Eurema candida (IVI = 11.45) of the Family Pieridae.
Base Line Data of Diversity of Family-Carabidae in pench Tiger Reserve (East)...dbpublications
Present study was conducted during the year 2012 - 2014 dealing with the exploration of beetle diversity from Pench Tiger Reserve (PTR), M. S. This is the first base line data created for PTR. Beetles were collected by routine methods, later identified up to species with standard key characters. Carabids are environmental indicators and their status affects ecological function. Twelve species of family –Carabidae are reported under nine genera belonging to seven sub- families. These sub-families are Licininae, Paussinae, Harpalinae, Scaritinae , Siagoninae, Anthiinae
and Panagaeinae and the species are Brachinus, Pheropsophus, Chlaenius, C. tricolor, C. velutinus, C. bioculatus, C. scapularis, Scarites, Eudema tomentosus, Siagona, Anthia sexguttata, and Pterostichus.
Beetles in Selected Barangays of Catarman, Northern Samar, Philippinesijtsrd
This initial research effort was conducted to identify the beetle species in five selected barangays of Catarman, Northern Samar, and describe the environmental factors that affect the presence of beetles in the study area. It used the descriptive method of research, with the purposive sampling technique as the sampling procedure utilized.Due to limitations of the researcher, a total of only seventeen 17 beetle species, belonging to eleven 11 families, were found present in different sampling sites. The most abundant of the beetle species individual was Harmonia axyridis, constituting 76.14 of the total number of beetles in the study area, while the least abundant were Alaus sp., and Diphucephala sp., each with only one 1 individual present, accounting for a relative abundance of only 0.46 . The air and soil temperature range between 27oC to 29oC. Grasses, trees, shrubs, and herbs were the common vegetation present in the study sites where beetles were found. This implies that environmental factors were conducive for the beetles to thrive in the area. The presence of different beetle species indicates the study area has a diverse beetle fauna, albeit it is only a small fraction of the total beetle species listed in the country. It is imperative that conservation efforts should be strengthened by the LGU in order to conserve not only the beetle population in the study area, but other organisms, both flora and fauna, as well. Hog plum beetle (Podontia quatuordecimpunctata) is a serious pest of hog plum tree and both their adults and larvae defoliate the hog plum tree. However, its developmental information and proper identification as well as precise photographs of each developmental stages have not been well studied and recorded. Thus, the goal of this research was to establish the developmental characteristics of P. quatuordecimpunctata. Life history was conducted in laboratory conditions at an average temperature 28 °C ± 1.2 an average 65 ± 5% relative humidity (RH), and a light: dark ratio (12L : 12D). The female beetles were laid clusters of eggs in numerous layers, with 9 to 53 eggs in each cluster. The durations of each developmental stage were 6.16±0.93, 3.16±0.24, 3.29±0.25, 3.21±0.33, 4.54±0.33, 5.54±0.49, and 20.92±2.7 days for the incubation, 1st instar, 2nd instar, 3rd instar, 4th instar, pre pupa, and pupa, respectively. The longevity of male and female adult beetles was found to be 42.33±6.6 days and 50.66±9.8 days, respectively. Results revealed that this study will be a valuable source of biological information for a better understanding and management of this pest species. Understanding the mangrove-associated avifauna and their conservation status ...AI Publications
The research was conducted from June 2017 to June 2019 to better understand the diversity and current state of the avifauna in the Gorai Creek region. 96 species belonging to 39 families from 16 orders, including terrestrial and aquatic birds, were identified as surviving near the stream over the two-year research period, including residents, migratory, common, uncommon, and unusual species. 64 species were permanent birds, 28 were winter migrants, 4 were summer migrants, 23 were uncommon, 57 were common, and 16 were rare. Anatidae, Ardeidae, Cuculidae, Accipitridae, Sturnidae, Strigidae, Laridae, Charadridae, Scolopacidae, and Rallidae were the most regularly observed bird families. The extensive mangrove cover around the creek provided food for all the birds. The ferry system to Gorai village, as well as the Essel World Park, has been seen to mildly impair the birds' breeding and foraging. Seasonal changes have a significant impact on bird numbers. Except for the ferry system, anthropogenic disturbances are quite minimal in the area, therefore the creek has less pollution and dense mangrove foliage, which shelters the avifauna that thrives in the zone.
Diversity of Butterflies (Rhopalocera) inBulusukan (San Idelfonso, Bulacan, P...INFOGAIN PUBLICATION
There are 1,615 species and sub species of butterflies in the entire Philippines (C.R Baltazar, 1991), LUBG San Fernando La Union has 104 species recorded they belong to 6 families and 66 genera(Nacua et al2015).In Manila,Nacua (2016) 22 species of butterflies belong to 6 families 17 genera were also recorded. Thisstudyseeks to determine the species composition, conservation status, richness and abundance of butterflies in the town of Bulusukan, a community in San Ildefonso, Bulacan province (Luzon Island, Philippines). The opportunistic transect sampling method was used to collect butterflies. Collection was done at daytime on August 6, 2016 from 8 am up to 5 pm in areas with GPS of 15°04'26.0652"northand 121°02'39.9588"east near the vicinity of Bulusukan Cave.Species richness and butterfly diversity in all areas sampled was calculated. A dendogram showing 75% species abundance was accounted and comes mostly from the secondary dipterocarp forest. Graphium antiphates Cramer, Ypthima semperaand Ptychandra lorquini-lorquini were found to be endemic to Bulusukan. Butterflies were observed to be attracted to shady forest areas consisting of mosses clinging on metamorphic rocks along a river and includes species from the families Nymphalidae and Papilionidae. This study was able to identify 21 butterfly species with 19 genera 2 of them are rare and 2 endemic species of butterflies in Bulusukan. It is recommended to continue further study for wet and dry season.

3. Results & Discussions
We do not know the exact numbers of species in an area are being
discovered every year. In some cases these species simply haven’t
been recorded from the area before even though they are known to
occur elsewhere. In other cases new recorded are being described
by scientists. Because of these we do not even know the total
number of species that occur in Bangladesh. Clench (1979) stated
that, a regional list will never be complete, but as the number of
collecting man-hours in the study area increases, the closer to
completeness the list becomes. However, the species of Lycaenidae
and Hesperiidae families often pose a great challenge of
identification, with many look alikes with very similar features.
Over the years, Butterfly Circle did some misidenfications, and
now adopted greater rigor in validation before establishing the
identification of a species for inclusion into the Bangladeshi
butterfly Checklist.
5 new species of butterflies are recorded from 3 different areas of
Bangladesh. These butterflies are recorded from Dhaka, Pirojpur
and Cox`s Bazar (St. Martin island) districts of Bangladesh.
I. Little Tiger Pierrot (Tarucus balkanicus Freyer, 1844).
Family: Lyceanidae
Sub-family: Polyommatinae
Tarucus balkanicus (Little Tiger Pierrot) is recorded for the first
time in Bangladesh from Birulia, Savar, Dhaka. Date- 28/08/2013,
Time- 1.25 PM (GMT +06:00), GPS Coordination: 23º50'N and
90º20'E (fig. 1).
This small butterfly is belongs to the Lycaenidae or Blue family.
Distribution of T. balkanicus is Mauritania, Sudan, Uganda, Saudi
Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Algeria, south-eastern
Europe, Asia Minor, Middle East, Syria, Iran and North Africa.
Also have a subspecies Tarucus balkanicus nigra Bethune-Baker,
1918 (Black-spotted Pierrot) found in southern part of India.
In Bangladesh have only three recorded species under Tarucus
genus from previous. Those are Tarucus callinara Butler 1867;
Tarucus venosus Evans, Moore 1882; Tarucus nara kollar, 1848
and have recorded one sub-species Tarucus balkanicus nigra
Bethune-Baker 1917. T. balkanicus nigra a sub-species T.
balkanicus nigra was recorded from North region in Bangladesh
(Dinajpur) by Evans and some areas of Dhaka region (Larsen,
2004). But Tarucus balkanicus was not recorded previous before
our present study in river side area’s butterflies of Turag River.
Morphological Characteristics: Wingspan of Tarucus balkanicus
23-28 mm, Flight low over grasses and shrubs, hind wing tailed,
under wing white with prominent black streak like as Tarucus nara
and Tarucus venosus. Under wing white with prominent black
streak in under forewing cell. Upper wing of male in T. balkanicus
is dull blue color, black marks elongated into streaks rather than
rounded spots. 3 black spots present in between subapical and
postdiscal interspace of upper forewing just side of costa area of
male T. balkanicus. Under wing makings are variable especially in
dry season form.
II. Bhutya Lineblue (Prosotas bhutea de Nicéville, 1883)
Family: Lycaenidae
Sub-family: Polyommatinae
A new Prosotas species Prosotas bhutea from blues family
(Lycaenidae) under the Prosotas genera for the first time in
Bangladesh reported from national botanical garden of mirpur-1,
Dhaka. GPS Coordination: 23º49'N and 90º20'E Date: 28-11-2013,
Recorded Time- 9:42 AM (GMT +06:00) (fig. 2).
According to previous survey we have 5 Prosotas sp. such as
prosotas nora airdates Moore, 1875; Prosotas pia marginata Tite,
1963; Prosotas aluta coelestis Wood-Mason & de Nicéville, 1886 ;
Prosotas dubiosa indica Evans, 1925; Prosotas lutea sivoka Evans,
1910 (Larsen, 2004).
Morphological Characteristics: Wingspan of Prosotas bhutea 25-
27 mm. Hind wing of Prosotas bhutea tailed. Under part dark
brown with or without yellowish tinge. Bands on under wing
narrow, only slightly darker than background color. Basal band on
under fore wing confined to cell, discal band is not bellow vein 2 or
1 dot in space 1b.
III. Oriental Grass Jewel (Freyeria putli Kollar, 1844).
Family: Lyceanidae
Sub-family: Polyommatinae
A tiny species from blues family (Lycaenidae) is reported from
Arakul of South Keraniganj, Dhaka. GPS Coordinate: 23º41'N and
90º23'E Date: 24/01/2014, Time- 11:44 am (GMT +06:00). In the
location of this coordination a small group has been found and is
still in existence. Freyeria putli is very difficult to identify because
it is easily overlooked. Size and it`s similarity is as same like with
the common grass blues in the field.
In Bangladesh Freyeria putli have no confirm record from
previous. This species is counted in IUCN Checklist depending on
guess. It known as Eastern Grass Jewel from Calcutta and from the
Arakan (Larsen, 2004), but Freyeria trochilus Freyer, 1845 have
record from several location. Such as Gazipur, Comilla,
Kishoreganj, Panchagar, Narsingdi & Bandarban (Lama) districts
of Bangladesh. Butterflies of Bangladesh (fig. 3).
Morphological Characteristics: Wingspan of Freyeria putli is 12-
16 mm. Its habitat is open, drier location. Flight close to the
ground. Adult hind wing tailless, under part of Freyeria putli grey
to light brown. 2 black spots crowned with metallic color present in
hind wings margin.
IV. Plain Palm-Dart (Cephrenes acalle Höpffer, 1874)
Family: Hesperiidae
Sub-family: Hesperiinae
From family Hesperiidae under Cephrenes genera is reported from
two different area National botanical garden, Dhaka & Teknaf,
Cox`s Bazar for the first time in Bangladesh. GPS Coordination of
Dhaka is 23º50'N and 90º20'E, Date: 22/02/2014, Time- 01:11PM
(GMT +06:00) and GPS Coordinate of St martin`s Island, Teknaf,
Cox`s Bazar: 20º36'N and 92º19'E, Date: 01/03/2014, Time-
01.15PM (GMT +06:00) (fig. 4a & 4b).
In IUCN checklist 2004 it was counted based on guesses. The plain
palm dart was regularly caught in Calcutta and was found in
Cachar. According to Larsen it must be in Bangladesh (Larsen,
2004).

Morphological Characteristics: The Wingspan of Cephrenes
acalle is 42-44 mm. The adults, especially the males, are similar to
Telicota spp. but are generally larger than Telicota spp. Male is
dark brown with orange-yellow markings, which includes on the
forewing, a post-discal band running from dorsum to vein 6 and
three sub-apical spots, and on the hindwing, an orange-yellow
discal band, central streaks and tornal cilia. The female's markings
are usually much sullied and the hind wing beneath has an oily
sheen and may be colored green, bluish and purple.
V. Double-banded Judy (Abisara bifasciata Moore, 1877)
Family: Riodinidae
Sub family: Nemeobiinae
Abisara bifasciata is first time reported from Tushkhali, Pirojpur
district. Another species from family Riodindae under Abisara
genera is recorded for the first time confirm record in Bangladesh.
GPS Coordinate: 22º21' N and 89º55' E, Date: 14/02/2014, Time-
12:28 PM (GMT +06:00) (fig. 5).
Morphological Characteristics: Wingspan 42-50 mm. More
active during afternoon and evening, flying up and down paths and
clearing with an erratic jerky flight likely as another individual
species under the abisara genera Abisara echerius suffuse Moore,
1882 which is first record was by Abdul Razzak from the
Jahangirnagar University campus April 2003 (Larsen TB, 2004).
Abisara bifasciata have reddish brown wings color with greenish
eye. Hind wing of Abisara bifasciata not pointed tailed,
prominently toothed at vein 4 and and possess 2 or more prominent
ocelli near the apex. The hind wings & forewings of Abisara
bifasciata never held parallel to each other.

4. Conclusion
Addition of new five species of butterfly in our butterfly checklist
is a significantly contribution for butterfly fauna of Bangladesh.
This kind of finding is significantly important in updating the status
and distribution of butterfly fauna of Bangladesh.
