This document summarizes a study on the diversity and distribution of stingless bees (Hymenoptera: Apidae: Meliponini) in India. The study was conducted over five years and involved collecting bee specimens from different regions of India. A total of six species from two genera were identified. Tetragonula iridipennis and Tetragonula laeviceps were found to be the most commonly distributed species, found in all regions surveyed. The four main species found in South India were Tetragonula praeterita, Tetragonula iridipennis, Tetragonula bengalensis and Tetragonula laeviceps.
