There are five kinds of deadly sins. Doing what is forbidden of God. Neglecting to do what is commanded. Adding to God's Word. Taking from God's Word. Substituting something else for what God has commanded.

The document discusses the commandments of God and contrasts them with the commandments of man. It argues that the Ten Commandments were given by God to the Israelites after delivering them from slavery in Egypt. However, the Israelites were a stubborn people and repeatedly broke their covenant with God. The New Testament established a new covenant where God's law would be written on people's hearts rather than on tablets of stone. True followers of God are described as keeping God's commandments out of love for Him through the power of the Holy Spirit working within them.
The document discusses the three angels' messages of Revelation 14:6-12. It explains that the remnant of God's church will keep the commandments of God and have faith in Jesus. In contrast, the beast power will worship the antichrist and break God's commandments. It also discusses how the new covenant written on the heart by the Holy Spirit will enable God's end-time people to obey his commandments through love.

The document discusses the origins of human sexuality and homosexuality from a biblical perspective. It provides context from Genesis about how God created humanity with two genders and instituted marriage. It then examines interpretations of Genesis 6 about the "sons of God" marrying the "daughters of men," suggesting the sons of God were the godly descendants of Seth while the daughters of men descended from Cain. This union led humanity to become increasingly wicked and corrupt before the flood. The document analyzes this passage from biblical, historical and commentary perspectives.
Jesus makes it very clear that we need to forgive others in order to be forgiven ourselves by God. Forgiveness is a key to having successful relationships. we will look at nine roadblocks to forgiveness from the book, "From Anger to Intimacy"
The document summarizes a sermon given at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi on Joseph resisting Potiphar's wife's temptation based on Genesis 39:1-20. It outlines Joseph's 5 steps to avoid temptation: 1) Take responsibility, 2) Recognize sin, 3) Respond to God, 4) Refuse to be present with the temptation, and 5) Run from the temptation. The summary provides biblical references to support each of these steps.
The document summarizes key parts of the Old Testament Law or Torah, which includes the first five books of the Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. It discusses the creation story, Noah's ark, Abraham and Isaac, the Exodus from Egypt, the 10 Commandments, and ceremonial laws and offerings in the Old Testament. It notes that Jesus fulfilled the Law and its requirements through his sacrifice, and brought grace, truth, and a new covenant between God and humanity.
The document outlines the key message components of the Great Commission as found in the Gospels and Acts. It discusses that the message involves hearing the gospel, believing in Jesus, repenting of sins, confessing faith, and being baptized. It provides biblical references for each of these elements in the teachings and commands of Jesus and the early Christian preaching recorded in Acts.

Here are the 3 major things a false prophet failed according to the passage:
1. They failed to stay with and abide in the Word of God. A true prophet always stays with "Thus saith the Lord" and what is revealed in scripture.
2. They failed to agree with other true prophets and would make the Word say something different than what other prophets said.
3. They are out for money, gain and binding people to themselves rather than binding people to Christ. They neglect the Word and just focus on offerings and schemes to benefit themselves.
The document provides information for an upcoming Bible study, including summaries of the readings. The first reading tells of the prophet Elijah reviving the dead son of a widow. The psalm response expresses praise to God for being rescued from distress. The second reading recounts Paul's former life persecuting Christians and his revelation from God to proclaim the Gospel to Gentiles. The Gospel reading describes Jesus having pity on a widow whose only son had died and raising the son back to life.

This document discusses the difference between true and false prophets and religious spirits. It provides biblical examples of opposing religious spirits from the beginning, including Abel and Cain, and Esau and Jacob. False prophets are described as those who are outside of God's Word and who fail to abide in the Word, vary from other prophets, and are not vindicated by God. Their goal is to lead people astray through deception, fear, and financial gain rather than focusing on the Word of God. True prophets will strictly adhere to the Word of God and be confirmed by God through their message and life.

The document discusses whether Christianity should be enticing or offensive in its message. It argues that Christianity should be offensive based on what the Bible says. It provides several reasons for this:
1) The Bible says that salvation comes through hearing the word of God, not by observing someone's lifestyle. The gospel message must therefore be verbalized rather than just demonstrated through lifestyle.
2) Jesus himself directly confronted people with the message of salvation, rather than just living a good lifestyle before them.
3) The apostles like Peter and Paul actively preached and taught about Jesus, rather than practicing "lifestyle evangelism."
4) The simplicity of the gospel - that salvation comes through faith in Christ alone

Computational investigation of blast survivability and off-road performance o...Hemanth Nallagatla
Computational analyses were conducted to simulate the survivability of an up-armored HMMWV to a landmine blast underneath its wheel and its off-road performance. For the landmine blast simulation, finite element analysis was used to model the detonation, interactions between blast products and soil ejecta with the vehicle, and the vehicle's structural response. For off-road performance, multi-body dynamics analysis modeled the vehicle's stability during braking maneuvers in sand using the same sand model from the landmine simulation. The results from both analyses were compared to field observations to validate the computational approach.

Blast injuries can cause damage from the overpressurization wave, flying debris, being thrown by the blast wind, or secondary injuries and illnesses. The ear is often the first organ affected, with potential tympanic membrane rupture from overpressure. Lung injuries, known as blast lung, are a major cause of death and present with dyspnea, hemoptysis, and chest infiltrates on imaging. Abdominal injuries can include hemorrhage, organ perforation, and escape of contents. Secondary injuries involve penetration from debris, while tertiary injuries occur when individuals are thrown, possibly striking other objects. Management involves addressing life threats, debris removal, antibiotics, and monitoring for complications.

Jewish people in Jesus' time observed important religious traditions and feasts centered around the Temple in Jerusalem. The most important commandment was to love God with all your being, as stated in the Shema prayer. The Sabbath was set aside as the Lord's day of rest, and religious services were held at local synagogues. Daily life involved occupations like farming and fishing, and meals consisted primarily of bread, fruits, and vegetables.

This document contains a summary of Jesus' teachings on forgiveness, fasting, and storing up treasures in heaven rather than on earth from the Gospels of Matthew and Mark. It also includes additional context and commentary from other biblical passages. The key points are:
1) Jesus teaches that forgiveness is necessary to receive forgiveness from God and that true fasting involves humble prayer rather than outward displays of piety.
2) Fasting is presented as a spiritual discipline that should be accompanied by righteous living, not just physical deprivation.
3) True treasures are spiritual rewards stored in heaven, not earthly possessions that can be lost or stolen. Believers are called to focus on eternal rather than temporal things.
The foolishness of preaching: A testing look at the Reason for PreachingRory Hall
God has provided only one method of salvation - the foolishness of preaching. Throughout history, God used preachers like Noah to warn people and call them to repentance. All preaching that can save must be grounded in the word of God as revealed in scripture. From Moses to Christ to the apostles, God's word as contained in the Bible is the standard by which all preaching is to be measured. Faith comes by hearing the word of God preached.

1) The document discusses Cain and Abel from the Bible and their different spiritual seeds or nature. Cain was angry his sacrifice was not accepted by God while Abel's was.
2) Cain then murdered Abel out of jealousy. God cursed Cain to become a wanderer and the land would no longer yield crops for him.
3) The document warns that those who practice sin are of the devil, and people must avoid sin and fleeing from God like Cain did in order to receive God's protection and blessings.

The passages provide guidance on fulfilling righteousness through baptism, the importance of not forsaking church assemblies, the torments of hell, bringing thoughts into obedience to Christ, studying scripture to gain wisdom and salvation, revering God through obedience, and proclaiming God's word publicly.
The document discusses the Christian doctrine of predestination and whether humans have control over their future destiny. It presents views that God has predetermined a person's final destiny, though not their actions, and that God declares the end from the beginning. Several Bible passages are referenced that discuss having faith in God, seeking God, God rewarding those who diligently seek him, and God predestining and foreordaining certain things.

This document provides a summary of key biblical prophecies and doctrines from a sermon by Bro. Jimmy S. Garin. It discusses the importance of revelation to believers, explaining concepts like the seven seals and seven thunders from the book of Revelation. Several Bible passages are examined, highlighting prophecies about Israel, the end times, God's sovereignty, election, and the mystery of the gospel. In conclusion, it suggests we may be living in the time period described by the opening of the seven seals and reveals the mysteries contained within.
The man from City of Destruction has encountered Evangelist, who questions why he has turned away from the Way of salvation so quickly. The man explains that he was persuaded by Worldly-Wiseman to rid himself of his burden through his own works rather than by faith. Evangelist warns the man that he is going the wrong way and will be judged according to God's perfect law if he does not repent and return to the true gospel of salvation by grace alone through faith in Christ.

The document is a slide presentation on the topic of whether our worship is pleasing to God. It discusses biblical examples of worship that was and was not pleasing to God, such as God accepting Abel's sacrifice but not Cain's, and Jesus driving the money changers from the temple because they turned it into a place of business rather than prayer. The presentation concludes that we must worship in spirit and truth through Jesus, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God.
1) Truth is an essential aspect of God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit. God is described as a God of truth, Christ is the truth and spoke truth, and the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth.
2) The document outlines many ways that truth is important for both believers and non-believers, including worshipping, serving, and walking with God in truth. It also discusses how truth is related to righteousness, the gospel, and sanctification.
3) In contrast, the wicked are described as lacking truth, not speaking truth, and being punished for their lack of truth.
The document discusses the importance of patience and possessing one's soul through patience as stated in Luke 21:19. It provides information on the meaning of possession, patience, and soul from biblical passages. Possession refers to active control, patience involves enduring difficulties humbly as God works, and the soul is one's personality and actions. The conclusion exhorts applying patience to possess one's soul by obeying God and not trying to control circumstances. Remaining patient allows God to work and saves one from being possessed by sin or the world.
Genesis 47:13-15 Now there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished because of the famine. 14 And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought; and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house. 15 So when the money failed in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, "Give us bread, for why should we die in your presence? For the money has failed." There are a number of reasons that money fails.
I beseech you – beg, urge, encourage, appeal
By the mercies of God – compassion
Present your bodies a living sacrifice – as opposed to a sacrifice of death
Holy, Acceptable to God – pure, without spot or blemish
Your reasonable service – since Christ died for us we should live our lives for him. 2 Corinthians 5:15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
John 3:16 is the most quoted and most remembered scripture from the bible.
Did you know that there are a number of other 3:16 verses that relate to and are very important to our spiritual lives and our living for Jesus?
Tonight we are going to look at some of those 3:16 scriptures.
Philippians 1:9-11 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, 11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Fear is common to all. We all fear something. Some fear is God given. Children come into this world with a fear of heights and of loud noises. Some fears are there to protect us from physical harm: snakes, darkness, suffocation, being burned, death, etc. In christians, most fear is a tool of satan
Brotherly love has amazed many people throughout the centuries. Love of the brethren is commanded by God. Brotherly love mus be worked at to achieve. problems in the church are either directly or indirectly connected to lack of love for one another. love is the key to a growing or even a surviving church.
in Galatians chapter 3 Paul contrasts salvation under the Law of Moses with the salvation we have through Jesus. Galatians 3:22-29 is full of truths regarding our true position as sons of our loving Father. We will look at 8 things which our faith in Christ will cause us to become.
We are God's workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works. We are blessed for doing God's work. We are to speak and do. Faith without works is dead. Faith is shown by our works.
Jonah is a book about god's desire to save the lost and man's role in that. there are some great lessons taught in the book of Jonah. We will look at questions Jonah was asked in the book and ask those questions of ourselves.
we all need motivation at times. what motivates you? Paul said 5 things to the brethren at Rome to motivate them to continue their service no matter how great the suffering became. the good always outweighs the bad. the Holy Spirit intercedes for us. God's providence works for us. Judgment is on our behalf. the love of God is on our behalf.
Repentance is a change in your allegiance, your expectations, your values, your priorities, your mission and your morals. can you say there has been a change in your life since you met the Lord?
Isaiah 9:6-7 Jesus would be called or known as wonderful. Wonderful in His birth. Wonderful in His miracles. Wonderful in His teachings. Wonderful in His resistance to sin. Wonderful in His accomplishing His work. Wonderful in His fulfilling prophecies. Wonderful in His sacrifice. Wonderful in His resurrection. Wonderful is His Name.
Isaiah 9:6-7 Jesus would be called or known as Mighty God. Prophecies said he would be God. John said He was Creator and God. Jesus claimed to be God. Thomas said He was God. Paul said He was Creator. Paul called Him God. John said Jesus was the True God.
Isaiah 9:6-7 His name will be called or He would be known as counselor. He is a counselor who understands your struggles. He is a counselor who cares for you. He is a counselor who is committed to you.
I John 2:28-3:3 Tests for Christians. Do you abide in Christ? Do you practice righteousness? Who knows you? Are you a child of God? Are you pure, just as He is pure? What is your identity?
I John 4:1-6 tests for christians 3 - the test of false teaching. Bluffing your way. Do you confess the Son? Do you listen to the Son? Do you obey the Son? Do you pass the test?
Ephesians 3:14-21 How big is your God? The ability of my God is boundless. The ability of my God goes beyond my prayers. The ability of my God is beyond my ability to imagine. The ability of my God is manifested in the lives of His people. The ability of my God is seen through His glorious church. The ability of my God is eternal.
The resurrection of jesus is a prevarication (spoken against), a plethora (great number) of witnesses, a proven fact, a purpose to save us. a plea to live worthy, a pattern for us to follow, a power from God, a promise for us, to believe in, a pledge by our savior.
Isaiah 9:6-7 Jesus would be called or know as the Prince of Peace. He brings peace through salvation. He brings peace through the Spirit. He brings peace through the scriptures. He brings peace through service. He brings peace through our following His guidance. He brings peace through being in Him. He brings peace through our being spiritually minded. He brings peace through answering our prayers. He brings peace through His blood. He brings peace through our pursuit of peace. He brings peace through Knowledge. He brings peace through our being peacemakers.
Matthew 7:13-15 The broad way. Our own way - selfishness. A way that seems right - man's wisdom. The way of conflict - not seeking God's way. The forsaken way - harsh discipline. Warning against associations with those in the broad way. the broad way is not an easy way.

The Revelation Chapter 7 Working Copy.docxFred Gosnell
John witnesses the sealing of God's 144,000 witnesses, and he hears the crying out or shouting of an unnumbered multitude of those who have been saved during the great tribulation.
This is an intermission scene before opening the seventh seal. We have seen six seals opened revealing of the events that would shortly occur. The first 4 reveal what was to occur in the great tribulation during the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in AD70.
The fifth seal reveals the question from those slain as to when the Lord would avenge their death. The sixth seal reveals the answer to them from the One on the throne and of the Lamb which would be the punishment of their persecutors and accomplices. John sees four messengers/angels holding back the four winds of the earth & keeping them from blowing on the earth, the sea or any tree. In this figurative language, these are not heavenly messengers/angels. These represent those who are trying to restrain the word of God everywhere. Their efforts are restrained by the messenger in verse 2, preventing them from holding back the 4 winds, the spread of the gospel of Christ by His messengers/angels. These 4 winds stand on the four corners of the earth, Rome’s worldwide influence to stop its spread. But the gospel will be preached in all the earth. See the study for the Bible passages that support this. John hears the commands given relating to the sealing of the servants of God and the figurative number representing them. John sees a great multitude standing before the throne of all nations and kindreds and people and tongues who are clothed with white robes. All the messengers/angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four beasts fell before the throne and worshipped God. One of the elders asks John what those were that were wearing white robes. John said he knew and the elder identifies them. The chapter ends with his explanation.
God calls us to a journey of worshiping Him. In this journey you will encounter different obstacles and derailments that will want to sway you from worshiping God. You got to be intentional in breaking the barriers staged on your way of worship in order to offer God acceptable worship.

Introduction
Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. A Mantra is so called because it is achieved by the mental process.

chakra yoga
Number of petals: 4 Location: Base of the spine Name: Foundation
Plane: Physical plane Sense Organ: Nose Work Organ: Anus Sense: Smell Element: Earth Shape: Square Sound: Lang
Muladhara is the root centre of physical experience, located at the base of the spine, the sacral plexus. The square represents the earth itself, the four dimensions and the four directions. Four allows for completion, and earth embodies the elements and conditions for human completion on all levels.
Muladhara Chakra is the meeting place of the three main nadis: Ida, Pingala and Sushumna. The downward-pointing triangle indicates the downward movement of energy and the three main nadis.
The seed mantra is Lam, the yellow square represents the earth element. The Muladhara chakra governs the vital breath Apana. An inverted triangle in the centre of the square encloses the unmanifest Kundalini, represented as a snake wrapped in three and a half coils around the svayambhu (self born) linga. Because her mouth faces downward, the flow of energy is downward.
The opening at the entrance of the sushumna is called brahma-dvara, the door of Brahma, which is closed by the coils of the sleeping Kundalini. As soon as one begins working with Muladhara chakra, this dormant energy awakens, raises its head and flows freely into the channel of Sushumna, the central nerve canal that runs along the spine. These two aspects of the kundalini: sleeping and waking, are identified as her “poison” and her “nectar.” The kundalini is poison when she remains asleep in the lower abdomen; she is nectar when she rises up through Sushumna, the medial channel, to reunite with Siva, the Absolute, in the yogin’s cranial vault.
In the pericarp is found the presiding deity Brahma, the lord of creation. His skin is the color of wheat, he wears a yellow dhoti and a green scarf. Brahma is four-faced, four-armed, holding in his upper left hand a lotus flower, the symbol of purity.
2. Genesis 4:1-8 Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and
she conceived and bore Cain, and said, "I have
acquired a man from the LORD." 2 Then she bore
again, this time his brother Abel. Now Abel was a
keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
3 And in the process of time it came to pass that
Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to
the LORD. 4 Abel also brought of the firstborn of his
flock and of their fat. And the LORD respected Abel
and his offering, 5 but He did not respect Cain and
his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his
countenance fell. 6 So the LORD said to Cain, "Why
are you angry? And why has your countenance
fallen? 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted?
And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its
desire is for you, but you should rule over it." 8 Now
Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to
pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up
against Abel his brother and killed him.
3. SIN
A. Many in the church and denominations think they
are right with God when they are still in sin -
Matthew 7:21-23 "Not everyone who says to Me,
'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven,
but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
22 Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord,
have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out
demons in Your name, and done many wonders in
Your name?' 23 And then I will declare to them, 'I
never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice
lawlessness!'
B. Most people think of sin as being only crime or
certain immorality.
C. We will look at five kinds of sins in Bible.
4. I. IT IS A SIN TO DO WHAT IS
FORBIDDEN OF GOD
A.1 John 3:4 Whoever commits sin also
commits lawlessness, and sin is
lawlessness.
B.Romans 4:15 because the law brings
about wrath; for where there is no law
there is no transgression.
C.Adam was forbidden to eat. - Genesis
2:17 but of the tree of the knowledge of
good and evil you shall not eat, for in the
day that you eat of it you shall surely die.“
5. I. IT IS A SIN TO DO WHAT IS
FORBIDDEN OF GOD
D. “You shall not” - Romans 13:8-10 Owe no one
anything except to love one another, for he who
loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 For the
commandments, "You shall not commit
adultery," "You shall not murder," "You shall not
steal," "You shall not bear false witness," "You
shall not covet," and if there is any other
commandment, are all summed up in this
saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbor
as yourself." 10 Love does no harm to a
neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the
law.
6. I. IT IS A SIN TO DO WHAT IS
FORBIDDEN OF GOD
E. By the law is the knowledge of sin.
1. Exodus 20:1-17 Ten commandments
2. Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the
law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for
by the law is the knowledge of sin.
3. Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the
law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I
would not have known sin except through the
law. For I would not have known
covetousness unless the law had said, "You
shall not covet.“
7. II. IT IS A SIN TO FAIL TO DO WHAT
IS COMMANDED
A. "Unrighteous” is sin. - 1 John 5:17 All
unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not
leading to death.
B. “Knows to do good and does not do it” sin. -
James 4:17 Therefore, to him who knows to do
good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
C. Neglect - Hebrews 2:3 how shall we escape if
we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first
began to be spoken by the Lord, and was
confirmed to us by those who heard Him,
D. Matthew 25:42-46 Then He will answer them,
saying, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as
you did not do it to one of the least of these, you
did not do it to Me.’
8. III. IT IS SIN TO ADD TO THE WORD
A. Deuteronomy 4:2 You shall not add to the
word which I command you, nor take from it,
that you may keep the commandments of the
LORD your God which I command you.
B. 2 John 1:9-11 Whoever transgresses and
does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does
not have God. He who abides in the doctrine
of Christ has both the Father and the Son.
10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring
this doctrine, do not receive him into your
house nor greet him; 11 for he who greets
him shares in his evil deeds.
9. III. IT IS SIN TO ADD TO THE WORD
C. Deuteronomy 12:32 Whatever I command you,
be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it
nor take away from it.
D. Numbers 22:18 Then Balaam answered and said
to the servants of Balak, "Though Balak were to
give me his house full of silver and gold, I could
not go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to
do less or more.
E. 1 Corinthians 4:6 Now these things, brethren, I
have figuratively transferred to myself and
Apollos for your sakes, that you may learn in us
not to think beyond what is written, that none of
you may be puffed up on behalf of one against
the other.
10. III. IT IS SIN TO ADD TO THE WORD
F. Matthew 15:9 And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of
men.' "
G. Specific law is exclusive as well as inclusive -
Genesis 6:14-16 "Make yourself an ark of
gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover
it inside and outside with pitch. 15 And this is
how you shall make it: The length of the ark
shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty
cubits, and its height thirty cubits. 16 You shall
make a window for the ark, and you shall finish
it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the
ark in its side. You shall make it with lower,
second, and third decks.
11. III. IT IS SIN TO ADD TO THE WORD
H. Add babies to believers - Mark 16:16 He who
believes and is baptized will be saved; but he
who does not believe will be condemned.
I. Add playing to singing
1. Ephesians 5:19 speaking to one another in
psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody in your heart to
the Lord,
2. Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell
in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and
admonishing one another in psalms and
hymns and spiritual songs, singing with
grace in your hearts to the Lord.
12. IV. IT IS SIN-DISOBEDIENCE TO
TAKE FROM GOD’S COMMANDS
A. Do not take away from commands
1. Deuteronomy 4:2 You shall not add to the word
which I command you, nor take from it, that you may
keep the commandments of the LORD your God
which I command you.
2. Deuteronomy 12:32 Whatever I command you, be
careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take
away from it.
3. Revelation 22:18-19 For I testify to everyone who
hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If
anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the
plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone
takes away from the words of the book of this
prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book
of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which
are written in this book.
13. IV. IT IS SIN-DISOBEDIENCE TO
TAKE FROM GOD’S COMMANDS
B. King Saul did less than commanded - 1 Samuel 15:3, 9
Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that
they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and
woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel
and donkey.' " …..9 But Saul and the people spared Agag
and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the
lambs, and all that was good, and were unwilling to
utterly destroy them. But everything despised and
worthless, that they utterly destroyed.
C. Many leave out Baptism
1 Mark 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be
saved; but he who does not believe will be
condemned.
2 Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let
every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus
Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive
the gift of the Holy Spirit.
14. IV. IT IS SIN-DISOBEDIENCE TO
TAKE FROM GOD’S COMMANDS
D. Many leave off the Lords supper.
1. Acts 20:7 Now on the first day of the week,
when the disciples came together to break
bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day,
spoke to them and continued his message
until midnight.
2. 1 Corinthians 11:23-24 For I received from the
Lord that which I also delivered to you: that
the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He
was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had
given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat;
this is My body which is broken for you; do
this in remembrance of Me.“
15. IV. IT IS SIN-DISOBEDIENCE TO
TAKE FROM GOD’S COMMANDS
D. Many leave off godly life - Galatians 5:19-24 Now the
works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,
fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry,
sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of
wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,
21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like;
of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you
in time past, that those who practice such things will
not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the
Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control.
Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are
Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and
desires.
16. V. IT IS SIN TO SUBSTITUTE
SOMETHING FOR GOD’S COMMANDS
A. Cain’s offering for Abel’s offering
1. Genesis 4:3-5 And in the process of time it came to
pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the
ground to the LORD. 4 Abel also brought of the
firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the LORD
respected Abel and his offering, 5 but He did not
respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very
angry, and his countenance fell.
2. Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered to God a more
excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he
obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying
of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.
3. Strange fire for what God commanded - Leviticus 10:1-
2 Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took
his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and
offered profane fire before the LORD, which He had not
commanded them. 2 So fire went out from the LORD
and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.
17. V. IT IS SIN TO SUBSTITUTE
SOMETHING FOR GOD’S COMMANDS
B.Substitute sinner’s prayer for baptism
1. Mark 16:16 He who believes and is
baptized will be saved; but he who
does not believe will be condemned.
2. Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them,
"Repent, and let every one of you be
baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for
the remission of sins; and you shall
receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
3. Acts 22:16 And now why are you waiting?
Arise and be baptized, and wash away your
sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’
18. V. IT IS SIN TO SUBSTITUTE
SOMETHING FOR GOD’S COMMANDS
C. Substitute denomination for the church -
Ephesians 5:23-27 For the husband is head of
the wife, as also Christ is head of the church;
and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore,
just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the
wives be to their own husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also
loved the church and gave Himself for her,
26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with
the washing of water by the word, 27 that He
might present her to Himself a glorious church,
not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but
that she should be holy and without blemish.
19. V. IT IS SIN TO SUBSTITUTE
SOMETHING FOR GOD’S COMMANDS
D. Substitute sprinkle for burial - Romans 6:4
Therefore we were buried with Him through
baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised
from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so
we also should walk in newness of life.
E. Substitute playing instruments or choirs for
congregational singing
1. Ephesians 5:19 speaking to one another in
psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing
and making melody in your heart to the Lord,
2. Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in
you richly in all wisdom, teaching and
admonishing one another in psalms and hymns
and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your
hearts to the Lord.
20. WHAT ABOUT YOU?
A.Are you doing something God has said not
to do?
B.Are you failing to do something God told
you to do?
C.Are you adding to what God has
commanded?
D.Are you taking away from what God has
commanded?
E. Are you substituting something for what
God has commanded?
