The Finnish Infertility Association Simpukka arranges different kinds of
events with different kinds of partners all around Finland. Some of the
events are traditional and established, but new events are arranged
according to the need and wishes of our members. Events are always
open also for non-members. Some of the events are addressed to certain
kind of childless people (for example donorfamilies or secondary infertile)
some are meant for all kinds of childless.

This year the Childless Saturday (Saturday before Mothers Day) was the
22nd
in Simpukka’s history. The first Simpukka week was arranged in year
2009.
Both week and Saturday were a success. We had a lot of participants and
the subject rouse a lot of interest in the social media. Our Facebook –page
had more than 480 new ’Likes’ and the total coverage rose 500 % being
90 000 views. The most popular releases in Facebook were shared 1336
times where one most popular single release reached over 220 000
people.
In Twitter the most popular tweet received 5 323 views and hastag
#yksiviidestä (#oneinfive) was used over 500 times. In Instagram 130

personal pictures were released with hastag #Lapsettomienlauantai
(#ChildlessSaturday). Childless Saturday was also mentioned in many blog
writings. This was made possible with getting childless people to join the
communication. Our Saturday was also very well seen in the traditional
media.

During Simpukka Week we arranged varying events all over Finland. The
main event was in Helsinki, where we had over 50 participants.
For example in the northern part of Finland, in the city of Rovaniemi in
Lapland, our volunteers arranged an event for people with different kinds
of childwishes.
