Session Objectives
By the end of the session, you should be able to:
1. Explain the key concepts of content knowledge, pedagogy, and
assessment in English for Grade 2 in the Revised K to 12 (MATATAG)
Curriculum.
2. Apply research-based teaching strategies and appropriate assessment
tools to enhance learner engagement and achievement.
3. Demonstrate reflective and professional attitude toward continuous
improvement in teaching content, pedagogy, and assessment practices.

Mechanics on Demonstration Teaching
Feedback-Giving
● Each of you will prepare a lesson plan. LP template is
provided.
● You will be given one hour to complete the task.
● In your group, take turns discussing your individual
plans.
● All lesson plans must be submitted to the PMT as
individual outputs.
Instructions:
● During the demonstration teaching, 3 will serve as
Observers, but everyone is encouraged to share
his/her feedback later.
● You will provide feedback focusing on the mastery of
content, the appropriateness of teaching
strategies, and the relevance of assessment
methods used using the tool.
Mechanics on Lesson Planning
Step 1: Identify Learning Objectives
• Define what learners should know, do, and value at the end of the
lesson.
• Align objectives with the competencies in the MATATAG Curriculum.
• Use clear, measurable action verbs (e.g., describe, demonstrate, reflect).
Step 2: Determine the Content
• Identify the key concepts, values, and topics related to the lesson.
• Make sure the content is age-appropriate, culturally relevant, and
contextualized to learners’ real-life experiences.

Step 3: Choose Appropriate Teaching and Learning Materials
• Select resources such as stories, visuals, multimedia, or real-life case
examples.
• Incorporate values-based content and ICT tools where appropriate.
Step 4: Design Engaging Learning Activities
• Plan a variety of learner-centered activities that match the objectives,
observing the time allotment for each learning area.
• Ensure activities promote critical thinking.
• The number of days to be covered will depend on the competency chosen.

1. Selection of Demo Teacher
• The PMT (Program Management Team) will select participants who will
simulate using the prepared lesson plan.
• The assigned participant and observers will be notified to prepare for the
simulation.
2. Time Allocation
• Time should be used efficiently to simulate the key parts of the lesson.

5. Feedback and Reflection
• After each presentation, facilitators and/or co-participants will
provide feedback, using the tool, focusing on:
• Mastery of content: accuracy and clarity of concepts
• Appropriateness of teaching strategies: learner-centeredness, engagement,
and relevance
• Relevance of assessment methods: alignment with objectives and expected
outcomes
• Feedback should be constructive and concise, highlighting
strengths and offering suggestions for improvement.
