Introduction & Brief history of wireless communication
Wireless Communication Wireless communication is  transfer of information over a distance without the use of electrical conductors or wires. The distances involved may be short (a few meters as in television remote control) or long (thousands or millions of kilometers for radio communications). Wireless communication is able to remotely connect to external communications systems such as satellites, cellular phones, and computers throughout the world.
Guglielmo Marconi In 1895, Guglielmo Marconi opened the way for modern wireless communications From this beginning, wireless communications has developed into a key element of modern society In the early 1900s, voice and then music was transmitted and modern radio was born
Wireless Service Mobile communications including maritime and aeronautical mobile for communications. Fixed Services either point to point or point to multipoint services Satellite used for broadcasting, telecommunications and internet, particularly over long distance Other uses including military, radio astronomy, meteorological and scientific uses
Wireless Network
What is wireless network? Wireless network is a network set up by using radio signal frequency to communicate among computers and other network devices. Wireless network allow computing devices to share information and resources via wireless communications Sometimes it’s also referred to as WiFi Network or WLAN Easy to set up and no cable involved
Wireless network devices Cable modem : is a device that enables you to hook up your PC to a local cable TV line and receive data at about 1.5 Mbps.   Wirelss router : is a device that performs the functions of a router but also includes the functions of a wireless access point and a network switch. PCI wireless adapter : allows a computing device to join a wireless LAN. Wireless network adapters contain a built-in radio transmitter and receiver Wireless adapter card : external adapters that allow computers, both laptops and desktops, to connect to wireless (also known as WiFi) networks.
Use of wireless network Individual and business to send and share data Emergency service such as police department. Advantages : Disadvantages : Faster Healthy issue Lower costing (Magnetic radiation) Large range Backup communication link
Wireless connections Types of connections: Wireless LAN (Local Area Network) Wireless PAN (Personal Area Network) Wireless MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) Wireless WAN (Wide Area Network)
Wireless applications
Wirelsss technology Broadcasting Mobile phone Wi-Fi Lap-top Bluetooth Digital TV Wireless telephone
Broadcasting It is one of the eariest ues of wirelwss communications Advantages: Functional diversity Efficiency in spreading Has a wide range of audience Disadvatages Time limited Single form
Mobile phone Most convenient communication technology A veriaty kinds of mobile phones Differernt functions It still has a lot of scope for improvment
Wi-Fi Wireless Fidelity Signal range: 120 feet indoors 300 feet outdoors Wi-Fi is widely used in different places
Thanks for your time!
