AUTOBIOGRAPHY
I have studied design as an undergraduate student. However, I really had a passion
for creating animation for children. As a child, I enjoyed reading comic books and
drawing cartoons, especially the ones incorporated in a plot. Ever since I created my
first cartoon, “A comedy Inspector Gadget,” at the age of seven, I always wanted to
become a cartoonist. With this dream in mind, I applied to Hong-Ik University and
got accepted into the Visual Communication Design Department, which is the most
top ranking art school in South Korea. During the nine years of studying, including
working in design and commercial animation companies, I learned many things in
establishing my values of life and work.
I perceived that animation is the most effective way to introduce my story to the
audience, especially the children. I think children are the most precious spectators
of animation. Without a doubt, I would love to spend the rest of my life creating
images and stories for the young spectators. Besides, I am a Christian with a
purpose in life. I believe my purpose is making animation that shows the love of
Jesus to the children. I hope that one day, I will be able to make useful features in
animation and/or TV series for Christian families to be able to educate their kids in
 an interesting way.

ABSTRACT
This story is about the unconditional love of a pirate’s family.

At the age of sixty-five, ‘Captain Hahn’ teaches his nine year old grandson, whose
name is ‘Hahn III’ how to navigate his flying pirate ship, the ‘Sushi Boat.’ While
teaching his son, the captain takes a nap while the grandson gets a chance to play
around with the ship. After a raucous time of steering the ship, out of nowhere, a
high mountaintop suddenly appears through the fog. All of a sudden grandson has to
make an important decision before he crashes into the mountaintop. Hahn III begins
to panic and tries to dodge it. He barely escapes the danger and ends up saving the
Sushi Boat. However, the top of the mountain scraped the ship causing some
damage to it and also setting off the alarm. Captain Hahn wakes to find his grandson
next to a broken helm. He draws a long sigh and pushes a red button to stop the
alarm. A strenuous and intimidating silence generates tension in the ship. Hahn III
studies the captain’s face to see if he is angry. Nevertheless, the captain gives
comfort to his grandson with a big smile. Although ship got some damages, his
grandson is fine. Finally, the grandson hugs the captain and feels his unconditional
 love.

PROJECT PROPOSAL

My final thesis project will exhibit many actions, both humorous and energetic, in
order to entertain the audience.   It will also reveal subtle facial expressions to
illustrate the changes of emotion.   Both of the cartoon characters will portray
 realistic details of the body.

I will mainly use Maya (Modeling, Animation, Rendering, Shading and Rigging)for
Modeling and Animation. I will not hesitate to put forth my best effort and skills to
enhance my final thesis project. Adobe Photoshop (Texturing), Adobe After effects
(Compositing), and Adobe Sound booth (Audio editing) will be used as well.

Running time will be 2 minutes. The output will be DVD format.
