3. The construction sector generates a large amount
of solid waste because it produces around more
than one ton of waste per inhabitant each year.

4. Several rivers in Ecuador are contaminated
due to contamination by solid waste from
the construction sector. People throw
debris into streams and this affects natural
resources.

5. The fauna and flora of the rivers are
disappearing since solid waste
contaminates their habitat

6. What happens if I do?
Currently in Ecuador if you throw construction waste into rivers
you goin to receive a fine of 200 US dollars

7. What should you do to
solve this environmental
problem?

8. Construction companies in Quito can approach
these if three authorized sites for the deposit of
debris: Parque Río Grande, El Semillero and Luis
Tamayo.

9. Solid construction waste could be recycled, for example from pieces
wood may stakes or other elements that serve to shore up or reinforce
formwork could be obtained.

10. The environmental authorities of Ecuador encourage the use
of more environmentally friendly materials in construction.
