This document summarizes and analyzes several films from the Cinema One Originals 2013 collection. I.
In the past days watching Cinema One Originals, there are these films that catches my attention because it leaves a question behind you after you finish watching them.
SHIFT
In this movie, the first scene where Estela who is the female protagonist and Trevor as the male protagonist show the so called theory “Uncertainty Reduction theory by Berger and Calabrese. It is in the part where the two protagonists were paired up as a team in their work at a call center agency. In this said scene Trevor was assigned by their TL or team leader to make Estela fall in love again with her job. Estela was the type of girl that acts like a boy and because of this Trevor was not able to confront her well. This shows uncertainty because the two of them were different from each other. When Trevor finally talked to Estela they simply had their name given o each other. This is because they only knew each other that day. As time goes by these two builds a relationship and is starting to know each other. Compatibility between these two protagonist rise and uncertainty reduces as they work with each other as a pair. Expectancy violation theory can be seen in the scene where Trevor broke up with his boyfriend Estela expects that Trevor is falling in love with her but it ended up in a way that Estela was hurt because Trevor got a new boyfriend. Attribution theory can also be seen in the movie in that certain scene where Estela starts to ignore and avoid Trevor. Trevor thought that maybe Estela is just having a bad time or maybe he did something wrong.
KABISERA
The scene where Andres found boxes of meth while fishing in the ocean and bring it home applies the Reinforcement theory. Andres talked to his wife about the meth he picked up in the ocean and was convincing his wife that they should sell the meth and earn money in able for their dreams to come true and in order to support their children needs. At first his wife was troubled about selling it but as the time pass she ended up having a decision agreeing on his husband. The scene where Andres wants his daughter Ana and her husband to live in the province with him but his daughter does not agree with his decision because Ana and her husband works in manila. Andres decided building a house next to his and told her daughter about it so they ended up having a conflict. This applies the Cognitive Dissonance Theory. “The more time we spend with others, the more likely we are to self-disclose more intimate thought and details of our life” this is based on the Social Penetration Theory which can be seen in the

2. part of the movie where Andres and Jose who is his best friend are drunk and they ended having a conversation about their past lives and on how they became best of friends.
WOMAN IN THE RUINS
The scene where Pasyon assumed that the girl they found was his wife, he started expecting that calling her Maria and doing things that he and his wife does could be a way for the girl to recover her memory. The Expectancy Violation Theory is present in this scene because Pasyon’s expectation went wrong. The scene where Maria was being abused by Pasyon show the Elaboration Likelihood Model because Maria is abused like a slave and she has not fight for herself because Pasyon shows authority in such ways having a peripheral route. The movie also has a scene that is applicable to the Social Penetration Theory. It is the part of the movie where in first Sabel is jealous because he loved Pasyon for so long but then Maria came. Sabel was mad at first not knowing who Maria is. But as time goes by the two were already being friends and having a good term in their relationship as friends.

Ganito kami noon, Paano kayo ngayon
Ganito kami noon, paano kayo ngayon is a film successfully restored by ABS-CBN Cinema One Originals. The story was set during the Spanish colonization here in the Philippines. this story shows how our identity as a Filipino was made. In this movie Spanish claims that they are the true Filipino because they are the ones who have power and is well educated.
Nicholas Ocampo, also known as Kulas the male protagonist in the movie is traveling in order to find what being a Filipino really is. In his adventure he met a man ad he was told that a Filipino is someone who is born here in the Philippines. Kulas is a man who had luck and misfortunes at the same time. In the movie there are also some men wanting to find their true identity and is claiming that Philippines are for Filipinos not for the Spaniards. Some of them are thrown into jail and some is already sentenced to death like the GOMBURZA. As for me the movie shows on how the Spaniards control and take over our beloved country.
For there are no particular theory for the whole movie but there is a particular theory on every scene shown in the movie. For example is that it shows the social penetration theory in a way that Kulas, the male protagonist get to know Diding a woman he adores most. Their relationship began in a scratch up to having an intimate relationship. Uncertainty Reduction Theory was also shown in a lot of scenes such as when Kulas get to know and make friends with different people in his journey. This reduces uncertainty for him as he understands not only himself but the surroundings as well.
