Lydia completed editing her music video for the song "All in the Name" by Janice Graham to a professional standard. She filmed at Strangeways Prison based on the song's lyrics and used editing software to add effects like black and white. She met weekly with her group to discuss the video, including the location, budget, and each member's ideas. Through editing techniques, she structured a narrative and ensured the timing matched the song. In the end, she was happy with the improvements made and felt the video represented her understanding of music video production.

As I have now completed
editing and finalising my music
video, I have changed and
improved all of the things that
needed looking over. I have
made clear improvements to
my music video to make it
better than the rough edit and
overall to a professional
standard. I have done this to
the best of my ability and tried
to show my understanding of producing a music video and using all the
necessary equipment and software. I showed diversity as I contributed to
most aspects of the music video production unit. Including filming (use of a
camera) acting as a character in the music video and also editing/uploading
film footage which we collected over the past few weeks.
The music video that myself and my team produced was based on a song
called ‘All in the Name’ by Janice Graham. We based the music video
location/props on the song itself as the lyrics talk about being inside
Strangeways Prison in Manchester. We chose to shoot most of the footage we
needed at that location, Strangeways Prison. We also had some footage of the
instruments which we shot at college. We used a professional camera to
produce good quality footage so our music video looked the best it could. We
decided as a group we would all appear in at least one shot, which we did.
Over the process of filming each of us in the group was thinking of different
editing techniques we could include making each
of our music videos more unique and individual. I chose to make the whole

Throughout the process of putting the music
video together we scheduled team meetings to
discuss anything that needed to be discussed.
We decided on the idea of the music video, and
all the props and locations. We arranged times
were the whole group could meet and film
shots and scenes for the music video. We
discussed the budget we had to stay within,
such as buying camera and sound equipment.
Also each member of the group created a music
video script, their own idea and music video
creation, it was quite a struggle deciding which music video idea we were going
to peruse. We also discussed some camera angles we wanted to use such as
close ups and long shots. Long shots were usually shots of the actual building,
and close ups were usually of a band members face or an instrument. We tried
to make our music video quite structured, and have a tale behind it. So to get
the story across we had to add as much narrative footage to the music video,
and edit it in an order it made sense for the audience. The meeting usually
lasted around 40 to 50 minutes, once per week. We found the meetings
extremely helpful. When a team member was not able to attend a meeting we
took note of it, to make sure it did not keep recurring.
To edit the music video footage, I used a piece of software called Adobe
Premier Pro, it provided me with editing technology to put my music video
together. I tried using different colour effects and changed the size of some of
my footage to see which way I preferred my footage to be presented. As I have
mentioned I made my whole music video black and white, however
beforehand I tried to make the contrast brighter but in the end I didn’t like the
way it looked.
I have made all the improvements I planned on making which I am 100% now
happy with. The end of the music video fades out as planned and the song
itself fades out to a good quality. I have moved some footage around so the

3. music video makes sense, making it easier for my audience to understand.
When editing my music video I struggled with making one particular shot in
perfect timing with the song lyrics, as I continuously tried I finally got it to a
standard and position I am happy with. My group also made a decision to stick
with the footage we already had shot, and made it look the best it can by using
various editing techniques. My group also completed filming and pre-
production well within scheduled.
