Niall Moriarty – Bullied person
Most characters are from year 13 so
that the audience can ‘personally
identify’ (Katz) with the characters
and can put themselves in their shoes,
which will make the soap opera more
successful.
Technical equipment
The equipment that we are going to be
using is a camera to film these scenes,
with maybe a tripod so that the shots are
smooth and steady. We will also be used
a boom microphone in order to film the
audio/dialogue for the scene.
Costume
The characters will be wearing their
own clothing as this will be natural
for the schoolenvironment so will
make the trailer more realistic.
We want this natural setting for the
trailer as it is set in a schoolso we
want the feeling to be naturalistic and
representative.
Props
There will be no props for this scene
as the abuse that the person is going
through is more verbal in this scene so
we will not need any props.
Location
We will be filming in Alexa Ash’s house
in the kitchen, as this will create a
naturalistic home environment for the
characters and the audience watching
this scene.
Transport
We will need to walk to this location
as this is one of the actors house that
we are using in order to make this
scene seem more realistic and in the
environment that this scene would
normally happen in.

Most characters are from year 13 so
that the audience can ‘personally
identify’ (Katz) with the characters
and can put themselves in their shoes,
which will make the soap opera more
successful.
Also by having a female bully this
shows the ‘strong woman’ (Rebecca
Feasey) ideology that is a trend in
soap operas however not for good
reasons.
Technical equipment
The equipment that we are going to be
using is a camera to film these scenes,
with maybe a tripod so that the shots are

We want this natural setting for the
trailer as it is set in a schoolso we
want the feeling to be naturalistic and

Props
We are going to be using screwed up
paper as the bully is going to throw
this at the other person in order to
showto the audience that this person
is being picked on and that this is the
theme of the trailer and storyline.
Location
This scene will be in a classroomor
possibly the sixth form common room
within the schoolso that we get a natural
schoolenvironment where this bullying
could happen.By it being in a classroom
it means that the intended demographic
of our soap opera trailer have
experienced or are experiencing what
these characters are, making this soap
opera ‘personally identifiable’ (Katz) to
the audience.
Transport
We will walk to our locations as they
are within the schoolgrounds due to
the nature of our trailer and the
themes that we have decided to use in
our trailer and soap opera.

make the scene feel realistic and
relatable to the audience who will be
familiar with these settings.

Most characters are from year 13 so
that the audience can ‘personally
identify’ (Katz) with the characters
and can put themselves in their shoes,
which will make the soap opera more
successful. In this soap opera there is
lots of ‘binary opposites’(Levi
Strauss)through the use of bullies and
the child being bulled and the use of
female and male characters.
Technical equipment
The equipment that we are going to be
using is a camera to film these scenes,
with maybe a tripod so that the shots are
smooth and steady. We will also be used
a boom microphone in order to film the
audio/dialogue for the scene.
Throughout not only this scene but the
others we could use some low key
lighting in order to showthe gloomy
theme of the soap opera.
Costume
The characters will be wearing their
own clothing as this will be natural
for the schoolenvironment so will
make the trailer more realistic.
We want this natural setting for the

Through the bullied person being
pushed against the lockers this makes
the ‘caregivers’ (Maslow) feel for this
character as they will feel sympathy
for what he is going through.
Location
This scene will take place by the lockers,
again to keep the theme of school and
bullying in the schoolenvironment, with
not only verbal abuse but physical abuse
so this theme is related to real life
situations.

Most characters are from year 13 so
that the audience can ‘personally

and can put themselves in their shoes,
which will make the soap opera more
successful.
Also by using many males in the soap
opera trailer it acts as a ‘female gaze’
(Laura Mulvey) so the female
audience will objectify the male
characters which will attract them to
our soap opera.
Technical equipment
The equipment that we are going to be
using is a camera to film these scenes,
with maybe a tripod so that the shots are

This scene will take place in the

themselves and acts as a moment of
realization for the character this acts as a
sign to the audience that something is
going to happen to this bullied person
and the other characters.

In this scene we will use fake blood
and possibly a weapon like a fake

we will use a dolly shot to shoot this

Filming planning sheet

  • 1. SCRIPT BREAKDOWN SHEET “No Escape” Cast Alexa Ash –Sibling Niall Moriarty – Bullied person Most characters are from year 13 so that the audience can ‘personally identify’ (Katz) with the characters and can put themselves in their shoes, which will make the soap opera more successful. Technical equipment The equipment that we are going to be using is a camera to film these scenes, with maybe a tripod so that the shots are smooth and steady. We will also be used a boom microphone in order to film the audio/dialogue for the scene. Costume The characters will be wearing their own clothing as this will be natural for the schoolenvironment so will make the trailer more realistic. We want this natural setting for the trailer as it is set in a schoolso we want the feeling to be naturalistic and representative. Props There will be no props for this scene as the abuse that the person is going through is more verbal in this scene so we will not need any props. Location We will be filming in Alexa Ash’s house in the kitchen, as this will create a naturalistic home environment for the characters and the audience watching this scene. Transport We will need to walk to this location as this is one of the actors house that we are using in order to make this scene seem more realistic and in the environment that this scene would normally happen in. Notes: Breakdown Sheet # Scene # Int / Ext Set: Kitchen Day / Night Day Pages Description: In this scene the mother shouting at son (the bullied person). Location Alexa Ash’s House Studio
  • 2. SCRIPT BREAKDOWN SHEET “No Escape” Cast Alicia Willoughby - Bully Niall Moriarty – Bullied person Most characters are from year 13 so that the audience can ‘personally identify’ (Katz) with the characters and can put themselves in their shoes, which will make the soap opera more successful. Also by having a female bully this shows the ‘strong woman’ (Rebecca Feasey) ideology that is a trend in soap operas however not for good reasons. Props We are going to be using screwed up paper as the bully is going to throw this at the other person in order to showto the audience that this person is being picked on and that this is the theme of the trailer and storyline. Location This scene will be in a classroomor possibly the sixth form common room within the schoolso that we get a natural schoolenvironment where this bullying could happen.By it being in a classroom it means that the intended demographic of our soap opera trailer have experienced or are experiencing what these characters are, making this soap opera ‘personally identifiable’ (Katz) to the audience. Transport We will walk to our locations as they are within the schoolgrounds due to the nature of our trailer and the themes that we have decided to use in our trailer and soap opera. Notes: Breakdown Sheet # Scene # Int / Ext Set: Classrooms/ Common room Day / Night Day Pages Description: Kid gets bullied in classroom, pieces of paper thrown at him Location St Paul’s Catholic College Studio
  • 3. SCRIPT BREAKDOWN SHEET “No Escape” Cast Ms Stepherson - Teacher Leeza Ah Wan - Bully Chritie McVay - Bully Grant Cotes - Bully Niall Moriarty – Bullied person Von Villanueva – Friend of bullied person Most characters are from year 13 so that the audience can ‘personally identify’ (Katz) with the characters and can put themselves in their shoes, which will make the soap opera more successful. In this scene we have also used a teacher for some realism. Props There will be no props for this scene as the abuse that the person is going through is more verbal or being ignored in this scene so we will not need any props. Location This scene will take place in the hallways of St Paul’s Catholic College to make the scene feel realistic and relatable to the audience who will be familiar with these settings. Transport We will walk to our locations as they are within the schoolgrounds due to the nature of our trailer and the themes that we have decided to use in our trailer and soap opera. Notes: Breakdown Sheet # Scene # Int / Ext Set: Hallways Day / Night Day Pages Description: The bully’s and teacher ignore the child and their friend leaves him. Location St Paul’s Catholic College Studio
  • 4. SCRIPT BREAKDOWN SHEET “No Escape” Cast Leeza Ah Wan - Bully Christie McVay - Bully Grant Cotes - Bully Niall Moriarty – Bullied person Most characters are from year 13 so that the audience can ‘personally identify’ (Katz) with the characters and can put themselves in their shoes, which will make the soap opera more successful. In this soap opera there is lots of ‘binary opposites’(Levi Strauss)through the use of bullies and the child being bulled and the use of female and male characters. Technical equipment The equipment that we are going to be using is a camera to film these scenes, with maybe a tripod so that the shots are smooth and steady. We will also be used a boom microphone in order to film the audio/dialogue for the scene. Throughout not only this scene but the others we could use some low key lighting in order to showthe gloomy theme of the soap opera. Location This scene will take place in the playground, again to keep the theme of schooland bullying in the school environment, with the effects of this. Transport We will walk to our locations as they are within the schoolgrounds due to the nature of our trailer and the themes that we have decided to use in our trailer and soap opera. Notes: Breakdown Sheet # Scene # Int / Ext Set: Playground Day / Night Day Pages Description: The bully pushes the bullied person to the floor, being mean and spiteful to Jake. Location St Paul’s Catholic College Studio
  • 5. Through the bullied person being pushed against the lockers this makes the ‘caregivers’ (Maslow) feel for this character as they will feel sympathy for what he is going through. Location This scene will take place by the lockers, again to keep the theme of school and bullying in the schoolenvironment, with not only verbal abuse but physical abuse so this theme is related to real life situations. Transport We will walk to our locations as they are within the schoolgrounds due to the nature of our trailer and the themes that we have decided to use in our trailer and soap opera. Notes: Breakdown Sheet # Scene # Int / Ext Set: Lockers Day / Night Day Pages Description: The bully pushes the bullied person against the lockers, emphasizing both the verbal and physical abuse the person gets. Location St Paul’s Catholic College Studio
  • 6. SCRIPT BREAKDOWN SHEET “No Escape” Cast Niall Morairty – Bullied person Most characters are from year 13 so that the audience can ‘personally identify’ (Katz) with the characters and can put themselves in their shoes, which will make the soap opera more successful. Also by using many males in the soap opera trailer it acts as a ‘female gaze’ (Laura Mulvey) so the female audience will objectify the male characters which will attract them to our soap opera. Location This scene will take place in the bathrooms, so that the character is by themselves and acts as a moment of realization for the character this acts as a sign to the audience that something is going to happen to this bullied person and the other characters. Transport We will walk to our locations as they are within the schoolgrounds due to the nature of our trailer and the themes that we have decided to use in our trailer and soap opera. Notes: Breakdown Sheet # Scene # Int / Ext Set: Bathroom Day / Night Day Pages Description: This is the part of the trailer where the bullied person runs into after being pushed around, they look into the mirror angrily. Location St Paul’s Catholic College Studio
  • 7. Props In this scene we will use fake blood and possibly a weapon like a fake knife to suggest and ‘signify’ (De Saussure)to the audience what has happened to the characters. Location This scene will take place in the stage, as we will use a dolly shot to shoot this scene. We want the character to look unstable and suggest to the audience that there isn’t a positive outcome for the bullied people. Transport We will walk to our locations as they are within the schoolgrounds due to the nature of our trailer and the themes that we have decided to use in our trailer and soap opera. Notes: Breakdown Sheet # Scene # Int / Ext Set: Stage Day / Night Day Pages Description: This is where the bullied person is on the stage looking unstable after being in the bathroom – part that cuts to the hand with blood on it. Location St Paul’s Catholic College Studio
