WHAT IS A FILM DISTRIBUTOR
A film distributor or a film distribution company will acquire the rights to a film and
distribute it to an audience, it will create advertisements in order to attract a
particular audience however the scale of this varies with the budget of the film.
DISTRIBUTION IN THE BIG 6
Larger high concept films like Marvels “avengers: assemble” will have a very large budget, as
a result of this the distributor will be able to create a series of advertisements and
attractions for example, merchandise and other products.

The larger conglomerates within the film industry are vertically and horizontally integrated,
the fact that they are vertically integrated means that they are able to create, market
and distribute their film within the same company. An example of such a company
would be Walt Disney.
STRATEGIES FOR OUR FILM’S DISTRIBUTION.
As we would have access to little funds we would have to have a limited release, this
would meant that we could only screen our film in a selection of cinemas. The
advantage of a limited release is that it will be far less expensive that a larger
release. Independent films tend to not have the choice of large scale releases due
to the lack of funds.
