To create an effective movie poster, the document recommends that designers:
1) Make posters bold and eye-catching to stand out among thousands of others.
2) Ensure the poster leaves a lasting impression on viewers with only a brief glance.
3) Design posters that appeal to the intended target audience for the film's genre.
4) Stick to a memorable and unique theme to make the poster stand out from millions of others.
5) Avoid overcrowding images and keep the design simple yet intriguing.
6) Feature a clear central focus image, usually the protagonist, to identify who the film is about.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
2. Be Bold
When creating a movie poster it needs to be bold and really
stand out among the other thousands of posters out there.
We should be bold with our ideas, try and see if it works
out.
These poster for Baby driver
and Fight club are bold and
colourful, using a cartoon
style or animated effect on
the poster even though the
films are not animated, they
experimented and took a risk
which paid off as both film
are very popular and done
well.
3. Lasting Appeal
The poster needs to leave a mark on people. People will only see
this poster for a split second, so it needs to leave an impression or
make people want to see it. To leave an impression on people the
poster should have some bold text and the characters should have
a certain expression, we want to show the audience what genre
the film is but not give much away.
For example these posters
show very interesting
characters but leave the
audience questioning them. In
the we’re the millers poster the
test pointing and describing
each character makes the
audience wonder how they all
got together and why they look
like a normal good family.
4. Know the Genre to attract
the audience.
Know what audience the film is attracting! Then make
the poster appealing to that audience.
These chick flicks, Mean Girls and
Legally Blonde appeal to a younger
female audience keeping the female
protagonist at the front of the poster
with bright colours and other people
looking at them in the background.
The bright pink and bold title
strongly appeal to the female
audience and attract the right people
that will watch the film. These horror
posters are dark and mysterious with
lots of shadows and harsh lights
these mysterious posters appeal to
strongly a horror fan audience.
5. Memorable
To make the film poster memorable is one of the most difficult
jobs as there are millions of film posters out there. One tip to make
it memorable is to stick to one theme and be brave with the idea
The bright and crowded star
wars poster is very memorable
as it shows the Sci-Fi aspect to
it. This poster is very famous
and memorable to any fan and
many around the world. The
Jurassic park film poster is
another iconic poster even
though very simple it became a
well known symbol for people
all around the world.
6. Don’t overcrowd
If you overcrowd the poster too much it can look confusing and
messy to the audience especially if it is not executed well. If you
keep it simple you can give away a little hint yet keep it
ascetically pleasing and easy for the viewer to understand.
These posters focus on one set
image yet keep it very simple with
close ups, they do not give away
much about the film but enough to
attract an audience. For example the
lady with glasses we can tell she
wishes to be famous and is
searching for something.
7. Find a focus image
To find a focus image controls the poster and is the central
image or thing everyone sees, most the times it will be the
protagonist in the centre. This gives the audience a clear idea
of who the film is about and a sense of the character.
Pulp fictions central image
gives a sensual feeling but also
a cool vibe to the film, it
doesn’t give much away, but it
has a famous actress in the
middle similar to The greatest
showman the central image is
of the protagonist and hints to
the audience what its about.
