Contribution of hazrat Usman
(R.A):
As a third successor of prophet (s.a.w) the era of hazrat Usman (R.A) is critically
important in history. Following are the remarkable contribution of hazrat Usman
(R.A).
1) consolidating of the text of holy Quran:
• Most lasting contribution, however was the recension of the holy Quran in order to
protect Divine words.
• He convinced a committee to debate these variation and ordered to make copies
and send to different cities such as mecca, kufa and barsa.. He established an
official version of the holy Quran.
2) expand the Arab empire:
• Under the Usman ibn-e-affan leadership the Islamic empire extended into pars
(Iran) in 650 and some areas of khorasan (Afghanistan).
3) the building of prophet's mosque from the bayt Al-
mal:
• The people asked hazart Usman ibn-e-affan when he was
appointed as a third caliph of islam, to expand the prophet's
mosque, because it had become too crowded at jummah prayers,
due to the spread of conquest and the great increase in the no.

• Hazrat Usman (R.A) says; I bear a witness that I heard from the
messenger of Allah(s.w.t) that; " Whoever build a mosque Allah
will build a house in paradise for him.
4) purchase well from Jewish owner:
• On the request of hazrat muhammad (s.a.w) Usman ibn-e-affan (R.A)
purchase the well and made waqf for all Muslim and non-Muslim. It was
located 6 miles away from madinah.
6) Established the first Islamic navy:
• The first navy in Islamic history was built during the caliphate of Uthman
ibn 'Affan. Because the Arabs were desert people, the navy was mostly
built by Christians in Egypt and Syria who were happier with fair Muslim
rule compared to the oppressive Byzantine rule they were under before
Islam.
