Supplementary feeding of dairy cattle in Kenya and India is limited due to several factors. Farmers perceive concentrate feeds to be too expensive and increase the cost of milk production without adequate returns. There are also issues with inappropriate use of feeds, including not knowing when or how much to feed based on nutrient requirements or forage quality. Delivery of feeds faces challenges like lack of quality standards enforcement, adulteration, unqualified staff, and limited and costly testing. Interventions could focus on improving delivery, markets, and quality control of concentrate feeds. Developing strategic feeding guidelines based on diet and production, as well as micro-sizing affordable amounts of supplements, could help promote appropriate use at the farm level. Complete ration feeding approaches show economic advantages

Growing Asia Implementing the regional strategic framework

CIAT Asia is growing its research agenda, project portfolio, proposal pipeline, and regional team to implement its strategic framework. The research agenda focuses on three themes: cassava value chains, forages and livestock systems, and integrated farming systems. The project portfolio currently includes 20 bilateral/W3 projects and 7 W2 projects worth $3M annually. The proposal pipeline includes 13 submitted proposals and 11 concept notes pending approval. The regional team is growing to over 40 members from diverse backgrounds to work on the research themes. Challenges for CIAT Asia include balancing growth, promoting scientific excellence, building innovative partnerships and creative financing.

The Food Safety Working Group (FSWG) in Vietnam was created in 2015 at the request of the Deputy Prime Minister to address food safety issues in the country. It brings together government agencies, ministries, and development partners to facilitate joint policy dialogue and improve food safety. Over eight years of operations led by different organizations, the FSWG has contributed to various initiatives. However, it faces challenges of diminished government participation over time and dependence on active members. Going forward, it will strengthen its operations by integrating under Vietnam's One Health Partnership framework to better engage stakeholders and achieve policy impacts.

Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process. In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds. - These are slides of the talk given at IEEE International Conference on Software Testing Verification and Validation Workshop, ICSTW 2022.
