Surveys are universally experiencing falling response rates and rising data collection costs. Numerous studies focused on nonrespondents and the risk of bias Many people don’t respond to surveys. We explore the reasons why they participate to help inform ways to motivate more people to respond. This work is
Sparked by the market research conducted for the 2010 Census. We investigate attitudinal motivators and barriers to government survey participation, particularly health surveys.

Magellan Strategies BR today released the survey results today of an automated survey of 1,618 likely New Hampshire voters. The survey was conducted July 16-17. The margin of error for a survey of this size is 2.43%. The survey was commissioned by Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire. Aided by a dismal political environment, Scott Brown is within 5 points of defeating Jeanne Shaheen.
The results of an Indy Politics poll of this year’s upcoming City-County Council races indicates control of the body could be up for grabs. However, candidates have a long way to go to educate voters about who’s even on the ballot in their district.

Citizens’ approaches to evaluating political ‘facts’ in the fake news era by Rita Marcella and Graeme Baxter
Abstract
Recent years have seen significant public discourse surrounding the concepts of ‘post-truth politics’, ‘fake news’, and ‘alternative facts’ online, with much of it focusing on ‘Brexit’ or Donald Trump’s election campaign and presidency. This webinar will reflect upon recent research into fact response, fact checking, and the journey of the political fact. This research, conducted during the 2017 UK General Election campaign, consisted of two interrelated studies: 1) an online survey of the general public (n = 538); and 2) a series of 23 electronically-assisted interviews with citizens in North-East Scotland. Both studies explored the tactics and heuristics used in evaluating the credibility of ‘facts’ presented online by Scottish political actors.

Page 579
Assess the Constituent Data. What is included? Omitted? What are the data based on?
What assumptions are being made? Different retirement calculators give widely different
estimates of how much savings is needed for retirement because of factors they include or omit
(such as entertainment) and assumptions they make (such as inflation rate or healthiness of
annuities and mutual funds) in the calculations.
Two reputable sources can give different figures because they take their data from different
places. Suppose you wanted to know employment figures. The Labor Department’s monthly
estimate of nonfarm payroll jobs is the most popular, but some economists like Automatic Data
Processing’s monthly estimate, which is based on the roughly 20 million paychecks it processes
for clients. Both survey approximately 400,000 workplaces, but the Labor Department selects
employers to mirror the U.S. economy, while ADP’s sample is skewed, with too many
construction firms and too few of the largest employers. On the other hand, the government has
trouble counting jobs at businesses that are opening and closing, and some employers do not
return the survey. (Both organizations do attempt to adjust their numbers to compensate
accurately.)7
Check the Currency of the Data. Population figures should be from the 2010 census, not
the 2000 one. Technology figures in particular need to be current. Do remember, however, that
some large data sets are one to two years behind in being analyzed. Such is the case for some
government figures, also. If you are doing a report in 2014 that requires national education data
from the Department of Education, for instance, 2013 data may not even be fully collected. And
even the 2012 data may not be fully analyzed, so indeed the 2011 data may be the most current
available.
Hard to Quantify Sports Participation
How many people participate In sports, and which sports do they choose?
Governments and equipment makers want to know, but the data are fuzzy. Multiple
questions contribute to the lack of clarity.
What is a sport? One survey includes bird-watching.
Who should be counted? Do young children count?
How often do you have to participate in a sport to be counted? Is once a year enough?
How was the count made? Because younger and more active people tend to have only cell phones, a survey
made through landlines probably won’t be accurate.
In case you are curious, the National Sporting Goods Association survey says hiking is the most popular
participation sport in the United States, with over 40 million people.

FedCASIC 2019: Topic Salience and Propensity to Respond to Surveys: Findings ...Lew Berman
Main Theories on Nonresponse (Tourangeau and Piewes 2013) include Social Capital , Leverage-Salience Theory, Social Exchange Theory. The origins of Leverage-Salience Theory are from Groves and Couper (1998). Researchers observe that respondents vary in terms of the attributes of a survey request that they judge as relevant to their decision to participate. Thus Expert interviewers tailor the features of their request to heighten the salience of those elements they think will be most favorably received by potential respondent.
We look at topic salience and propensity to respond to surveys using findings from a study using a national mobile panel.

On April 19th, Ipsos MORI presented the results of a newly published study commissioned by the Wellcome Trust on attitudes to commercial access to health data as part of a panel discussion for industry and health sector representatives.
The work was an extensive and robust piece of social research, comprising 16 deliberative workshops with members of the public, patients, cohort study members and healthcare professionals and a follow-up face-to-face survey with over 2,000 UK adults.
We are delighted that this work has helped feed wider debate on issues surrounding commercial access to health data, challenges and solutions.

What Answers Do I NeedYou will be presented with four cas.docxphilipnelson29183
What Answers Do I Need?
You will be presented with four cases involving ethics and public service. In each case, you are not
provided with an answer. Instead, think about these cases and the additional information that you might
want as you prepare for the first discussion of this unit. Pay particular attention to issues of ethics,
morals and values.
Decision 1
Dave really wants to move up in his government department and is sitting for the civil service test that
will allow him to move up to the next grade. The extra pay he will earn from the promotion will help him
support his young son who has medical issues, and as a single dad, Dave believes that anything that
helps him to keep his boy happy and healthy is justified.
As he works through the multiple-choice section of the test, Dave realizes that he does not have enough
time to finish all of the responses. The woman sitting next to him has finished this part and he can see
her answers. Should Dave cheat and copy her answers, in light of his concerns about the extra pay
enabling him to better care for his son?
Things I might want to know:
• Is the son’s condition temporary or chronic? How sick is he?
• Where is the mother and is she also providing financial support?
• Does the woman sitting next to him really know the answers?
• What are Dave’s chances of successfully navigating the rest of the promotion review?
• What is the position Dave would have if promoted?
• How does this situation fit within Dave’s overall values, and will he feel bad later if he cheats?
• Is cheating ever justified?
Decision 2
After a natural disaster, the poorer people of the community were unable to leave the area, and services
such as water, power and transportation disappeared. Police watched over the streets in an attempt to
maintain the peace. However, because relief services did not seem to be arriving quickly enough, the
people were getting restless and increasing vocal and violent about their needs.
In search of food, people began smashing windows in grocery and convenience stores. Some were
taking food to feed their families, while others were seeing this as a free shopping spree for anything
they believed they could later sell. It was difficult to tell who was truly in desperate need and who was
taking advantage of the situation. The police were not outnumbered, but chose to look the other way
because so many people really did need food and supplies. Should the police officers have enforced the
law and stopped the stealing, or were they justified in trying to help those in need?
Things I might want to know:
• How long had it been since the disaster?
• How many people were stealing?
• How many appear to be in real need, and how many are just looting?
• How close are the relief services?
• What is the environment like – hot, cold, wet, dry, etc.?
• Would the police be mobbed by the angry public?
• Is stealing ever justified?

IFD&TC 2019: Technical Challenges and Solutions in Center ManagementLew Berman
This panel will discuss two sets of challenges and solutions in center management. Telephone based surveys typically use supervisory staff to live-monitor interviewers or manually review recordings for effective speech rate, properly reading a question, and accurately recording a response. General industry practice is to review 5-10% of all calls. However, these practices are labor intensive, subjective, and the evidence for this range of review is anecdotal. This panel will discuss current call center practices and new technical solutions for improving these practices. Spam blockers are having an increasing impact on our ability to contact respondents by phone. Panelists will share research about spam blockers, how they affect centers with different telephone systems, and possible solutions to ensure your calls get through to study participants.
Data Science Training and Workforce DevelopmentLew Berman
Overall, the demand for data science talent is outpacing the current supply, and many who are being trained in data science methods are pursuing careers in sectors other than public service or biomedical/behavioral research. On June 6, 2018 ICF hosted a workshop with participants from academia, industry
organizations and the federal government. This paper summarizes the key findings from this workshop.
Willingness and Reasons for Unlikeliness to Share Child Immunization Records ...Lew Berman
Poster presentation at the 2018 National Immunization Conference on willingness of survey participants to share child immunization records. The survey, The Childhood Immunization Mobile Panel Survey II (ChIMPS II), was a methodology study to assess mode, introduction, and content variations for the National Immunization Survey (NIS). This study used a smart phone panel because it offered easier administration, lower cost, and respondent convenience. One content variation focused on assessing the willingness of a respondent to provide permission for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to access their children’s medical vaccine records. The objective of the poster analyses was to describes the willingness of respondents to share vaccine records with CDC as part of smartphone survey, and the reasons respondents gave for being unwilling or unsure about sharing their child’s medical records with CDC.

Muktapishti is a traditional Ayurvedic preparation made from Shoditha Mukta (Purified Pearl), is believed to help regulate thyroid function and reduce symptoms of hyperthyroidism due to its cooling and balancing properties. Clinical evidence on its efficacy remains limited, necessitating further research to validate its therapeutic benefits.
Basavarajeeyam is an important text for ayurvedic physician belonging to andhra pradehs. It is a popular compendium in various parts of our country as well as in andhra pradesh. The content of the text was presented in sanskrit and telugu language (Bilingual). One of the most famous book in ayurvedic pharmaceutics and therapeutics. This book contains 25 chapters called as prakaranas. Many rasaoushadis were explained, pioneer of dhatu druti, nadi pareeksha, mutra pareeksha etc. Belongs to the period of 15-16 century. New diseases like upadamsha, phiranga rogas are explained.
DISSERTATION on NEW DRUG DISCOVERY AND DEVELOPMENT STAGES OF DRUG DISCOVERYNEHA GUPTA
The process of drug discovery and development is a complex and multi-step endeavor aimed at bringing new pharmaceutical drugs to market. It begins with identifying and validating a biological target, such as a protein, gene, or RNA, that is associated with a disease. This step involves understanding the target's role in the disease and confirming that modulating it can have therapeutic effects. The next stage, hit identification, employs high-throughput screening (HTS) and other methods to find compounds that interact with the target. Computational techniques may also be used to identify potential hits from large compound libraries.
Following hit identification, the hits are optimized to improve their efficacy, selectivity, and pharmacokinetic properties, resulting in lead compounds. These leads undergo further refinement to enhance their potency, reduce toxicity, and improve drug-like characteristics, creating drug candidates suitable for preclinical testing. In the preclinical development phase, drug candidates are tested in vitro (in cell cultures) and in vivo (in animal models) to evaluate their safety, efficacy, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics. Toxicology studies are conducted to assess potential risks.
Before clinical trials can begin, an Investigational New Drug (IND) application must be submitted to regulatory authorities. This application includes data from preclinical studies and plans for clinical trials. Clinical development involves human trials in three phases: Phase I tests the drug's safety and dosage in a small group of healthy volunteers, Phase II assesses the drug's efficacy and side effects in a larger group of patients with the target disease, and Phase III confirms the drug's efficacy and monitors adverse reactions in a large population, often compared to existing treatments.
After successful clinical trials, a New Drug Application (NDA) is submitted to regulatory authorities for approval, including all data from preclinical and clinical studies, as well as proposed labeling and manufacturing information. Regulatory authorities then review the NDA to ensure the drug is safe, effective, and of high quality, potentially requiring additional studies. Finally, after a drug is approved and marketed, it undergoes post-marketing surveillance, which includes continuous monitoring for long-term safety and effectiveness, pharmacovigilance, and reporting of any adverse effects.
Basavarajeeyam is a Sreshta Sangraha grantha (Compiled book ), written by Neelkanta kotturu Basavaraja Virachita. It contains 25 Prakaranas, First 24 Chapters related to Rogas& 25th to Rasadravyas.
ABDOMINAL TRAUMA in pediatrics part one.drhasanrajab
Abdominal trauma in pediatrics refers to injuries or damage to the abdominal organs in children. It can occur due to various causes such as falls, motor vehicle accidents, sports-related injuries, and physical abuse. Children are more vulnerable to abdominal trauma due to their unique anatomical and physiological characteristics. Signs and symptoms include abdominal pain, tenderness, distension, vomiting, and signs of shock. Diagnosis involves physical examination, imaging studies, and laboratory tests. Management depends on the severity and may involve conservative treatment or surgical intervention. Prevention is crucial in reducing the incidence of abdominal trauma in children.

2. The Glass Half Full
Surveys are universally experiencing falling response rates and rising
data collection costs.
Numerous studies focused on nonrespondents and the risk of bias
Many people don’t respond to surveys.
Many people DO.
Focus on them
Finding out the reasons why they participate will inform ways to motivate
more people to respond.
Sparked by the market research conducted for the 2010 Census, we
investigate attitudinal motivators and barriers to government survey
participation, particularly health surveys.

3. Latent Class Analysis
Latent classes created based on patterns of the
independent characteristics
Choose number of classes
Estimate class probabilities based on characteristics
Assign to a class based on maximum probability
Evaluate class characteristics

how much you agree or disagree with each statement.
Strongly agree, Agree, Disagree, Strongly disagree
Government surveys are an invasion of privacy
It is important for everyone’s opinion to be counted in government surveys
Taking part in government surveys shows I am proud of who I am
Participating in government surveys will let the government know what my community
needs
I just don’t see that it matters much if I answer government surveys or not
It is my civic responsibility to fill out government surveys
Government agencies’ promise of confidentiality can be trusted
I am concerned that the information I provide will be misused
I prefer to stay out of sight and not be counted in government surveys
The government already has my personal information, like my tax returns, so I don’t need
to fill out government surveys
I’ll never see results from government surveys in my neighborhood
It takes too long to fill out government surveys. I don’t have the time
Computer “hackers” could obtain government survey information about you if they really
tried
Refusing to fill out government surveys is a way for people to show that they don’t like
what the government is doing

24. Conclusions
Developed factors based on trust in government and government
survey attitudes
“Personal obligation” strongest positive predictor of stated likelihood of
survey participation for all modes
“No value, no point” and “Results won’t help me” strongest negative
predictors of stated likelihood of survey participation for all modes
Both factors point to perceived ROI
Counterintuitive results for “Loss of data control” factor
Respondents with higher scores report higher likelihood of responding to surveys
“Data security concerns” not a barrier to
