2. The artist I will be using is Sara Zanjani, otherwise known as ‘Sara’ Sara is a 17 year old rising pop artist, whose music isn’t dissimilar to that of Katy Perry and Cheryl Cole. As you can see from this picture, Sara has olive skin and dark hair/eyes; her style matches that of those in her target audience.
4. I will style Sara for my front cover based around this photo of Cher Lloyd, as I feel this image isn’t too serious yet still looks stylish/fashionable and fits with the mixed theme of fashion and music in my magazine. I will use a lot of make-up on Sara to create that ‘ high fashion’ look, and use a fashionable outfit on Sara on the cover – I feel that choosing the right outfit is crucial as readers will judge my magazine on the cover. I won’t dress Sara in anything too complicated as I dislike busy magazine covers – I aim to keep it simplistic yet effective.
5. Sara’s pop career is to rocket in 2011. She claims she has always had a strong passion for music, yet never thought it could take her into a new exciting career. Sara likes to write her own lyrics as she feels the songs she is singing must relate to her. Sara is a happy, bubbly down to earth 17 year old with a strong sense of ambition and determination. Sara doesn’t fall into a typical musical stereotype other than pop, and likes to match her fashion sense with her music as she thinks it is important to come as a complete package other than just looks or just music. Sara’s fashion is heavily influenced from that of Vogue and Elle magazines.
6. Other influences I am highly interested in magazine covers featuring Katy Perry and the way she poses, as she isn’t too serious yet delivers a good front cover.
7. I am a fan of Cheryl Cole’s cover shoots, and I think they (mixed with inspiration from Katy Perry) could create an effective magazine cover that matches with the theme of my magazine
8. Most Influencing Cover I like the neutral colours of this photo, and plan to do something similar to this with greyscale rather than cream, but I will add a feature colour (purple) to give my magazine more edge and make it more eye catching. The neutral face of Cheryl also matches with the scheme, which I find effective. I will employ this in my cover by using a mid-shot with Sara. As Sara’s music is similar to Cheryl’s I think that by taking this and the photo of Cher Lloyd into account I could create an effective yet simplistic cover to my magazine.
