 Fats are one of the three main nutrients
 Fats keep our skin soft, deliver fat soluble
vitamins and are a great source of energizing
fuel.
 Fats come from animals, they are usually
found under the skin or around certain
organs.
 All Natural oily substance
 Yes, fats can be good… fats have benefits we
cant live without.
 Good fat supplies us with Essential Fatty
Acids(EFAs)
 In addition, fat carries vitamins A,D,E, and K
known as the fat-soluble vitamins, into and
around the body.
 Helps eye sight and brain development in
babies .
 Bad fats are a big contributor to heart
disease.
 The 2 main types of bad fats are saturated
and trans fats.
 Diets rich in saturated fat and trans fat
(both are bad fats) raise blood cholesterol,
contributing to clogged arteries that block the
flow of oxygenated blood to the heart and
brain.
 The American Heart Association recommends
that we get 20% to 35% of our calories from
fat. Most Americans get 34% or more.
 Cholesterol is a waxy substance our body
needs to survive.
 Our bodies produce cholesterol, you can also
get it
 Good fats are found in Animal fats
 Bad Fats are usually found in deep fried
foods, be careful of foods cooked with oils,
Oils are highly concentered with bad fats.
