Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
2. Research
With my research I wanted to collect three very different types of
fanzines. I found a punk rock one based of music and a product based,
health and lifestyle fanzine and finally an aesthetically pleasing
illustrated indoor plant fanzine.
Looking back and reflecting from a finished stand point I would of got
3 different put all 3 selling a product so that I had more design ideas
e.g. page layouts, colour schemes etc.
I did notice how each fanzine had a colour scheme, it was never just
random colour thrown together. I also understood the culture more
realising a fanzine can be on absolutely anything that you're a fan off
and on the simplest things.
I then thought out 3 ideas of fanzines I believed I could produce. The
ideas I came up with where: friends, cocktails and a certain crime. I
wanted to chose three things I knew a lot about and again three
completely different topics. I ended up choosing cocktails as I felt I
could produce a nice unique design to the topic.
3. Ideas Development
In my deveopment ideas I wanted to represent the my design
asthetic as based from illustrations. I wanted to indicate that my
fanzine will be themed in the way of sketches and illustrations
to display my products.
I began by making two mood boards to get ideas and
inpsiartions for different elements of my fanzine. For example
font styles and colour schemes. I Also wanted to gather some
images of illustrated fruit/cocktails/bottles to see the different
way they have previously been represented from an illustrated
point of view.
I the began planning some draft page layouts with some images
I found online. I knew my basic idea would always stay the
same; one page for illustartion and one page for information.
Looking back from a finished prospective there are many
similarities from my beginning drafts to my end product.
4. Planning
During my planning I looked at which cocktails where popular in the bar industry today in aspects of being
classic. Once I had chosen I then did some research behind each cocktail and also wrote out the ingredients
and garnishes for each. I then roughly sketched out layouts of each page and how I wanted it to be set out and
planned the structure of my fanzine. I organised in which order the cocktails would be layed out. Also during
planning I wrote out the questions I would ask during my interview. I didn’t need much planning other than
this as my zine only consistered of the illustations and ingrdients along with an interview.
5. Production
My production started with drawing and completing
sketches of the cocktails in my fanzine. I sketched the
cocktails on plain paper with a pencil, once I had drawn all
my cocktails I scanned them onto the computer. My
sketches came out really well and had the effect I wanted
but with the scanning, due to using pencil the lines weren't
as clear or defined as I wish so therefore made the editing
side a lot longer than I expected. Once I uploaded my
images on to photoshop I began colouring them in on
photoshop with the brush tool. I'm very happy with how the
colouring came out but the colouring through my time
mangamet off as it took nearly 2 whole days to colour in the
most detailed. I made the ingrduents page fuly on
photoshop, making my own stickers from clipart images of
fruit. And mimicing spirit bottels for illustraion, everythig
was made on photoshop. I believe the layout is professional
and I'm very happy with how I worked with colour schemes
for each cocktail.
