This document provides information about three famous volcanoes: Mount Vesuvius, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Pelee. It describes how Mount Vesuvius erupted and destroyed Pompeii in the past. Mount St. Helens had the largest eruption of an American volcano in 1980. Only two people survived the eruption of Mount Pelee in 1902 which sent boiling mud, ash, and rock toward the town of Saint Pierre.
