FACTS
 Something that has actual existence. An actual occurrence. A
piece of information that can be backed up by evidence.
 Facts don’t just exist in our heads.
 SIGNAL WORDS:
(Numbers, statistics, verified, document, record, eyewitness,
photographs)
EXAMPLES:
1.The shape of the basketball ball is circle.
2.The capital of the province of Zambales is Iba.
3.Ferdinand “Bong Bong” Marcos is the current president of the
Philippines.
BELIEFS
 It is a conviction based on cultural or personal faith, morality, or values.
 Beliefs exist one hundred percent (100%) in our head.
 Examples of beliefs that affect your life include what you believe about
who you are, and what you believe you are capable of achieving.
 Somewhere along the line you gathered up opinions on this subject and
solidified those
opinions into beliefs.
 SIGNAL WORDS:
(Believe, should, interpretation, might, good/bad, point of view, better/best)
 EXAMPLES:
1. Basketball is a boring sport.
2. Bataan is the most beautiful province.
3. Cheaters should go to jail.
DIRECTIONS:

  • 5. OBJECTIVES At the end of the discussion, students are expected to: a. distinguish facts from beliefs; b. formulate facts and beliefs statements using word signals; and c. demonstrates facts and beliefs in real-life situations.
  • 7. FACTS  Something that has actual existence. An actual occurrence. A piece of information that can be backed up by evidence.  Facts don’t just exist in our heads.  SIGNAL WORDS: (Numbers, statistics, verified, document, record, eyewitness, photographs) EXAMPLES: 1.The shape of the basketball ball is circle. 2.The capital of the province of Zambales is Iba. 3.Ferdinand “Bong Bong” Marcos is the current president of the Philippines.

BELIEFS  It is a conviction based on cultural or personal faith, morality, or values.  Beliefs exist one hundred percent (100%) in our head.  Examples of beliefs that affect your life include what you believe about who you are, and what you believe you are capable of achieving.  Somewhere along the line you gathered up opinions on this subject and solidified those opinions into beliefs.  SIGNAL WORDS: (Believe, should, interpretation, might, good/bad, point of view, better/best)  EXAMPLES: 1. Basketball is a boring sport. 2. Bataan is the most beautiful province. 3. Cheaters should go to jail.
