This project report describes a face recognition attendance system. The system uses face detection and recognition techniques from image processing to automatically mark student attendance. It aims to address issues with current manual attendance systems, such as time consumption, errors, and the potential for impersonation. The key components of the proposed system are student registration, face detection, face recognition (including feature extraction and classification), and an attendance management system. The system is expected to only allow authenticated users to login, detect and recognize faces using a webcam, mark the attendance of recognized students, and update/print attendance records. The project is expected to provide benefits like accurate and fast identification, high usability and security, and a more user-friendly design compared to other biometric
