This document discusses adding minimal structure and semantics to tags to improve the findability of long tail video content. It proposes allowing users to select tag facets like People, Events, and Languages to filter tags. While more structure and semantics were possible, a simple approach of tags having a single facet is taken. Semantics can provide additional leverage, like showing related events on a timeline. Localizing folksonomies poses challenges, and translating tags may not be best. A balance of some manual work and semantics with minimal structure can be effective.

GTD or Getting Things Done is a task management system or methodology. It is a way of life. It is about putting things where they mean something to you. It is a trusted system. A trusted system is one that is complete and up-to-date.
The relationship between Chandler and GTD is such that Chandler is like a Unitarian church in relation to GTD. Chandler deals with the "spirit of the law" as opposed to the "letter of the law". Chandler picked out high level concepts that are universal and implemented a system aligned with GTD.
Beyond the Page

They then held a card sorting activity to help organize content in a way that matches user mental models.

When developing a machine learning system, the possibilities are limitless. However, with the recent explosion of Big Data and AI, there are more options than ever to filter through. Which technologies to select, which model topologies to build, and which infrastructure to use for deployment, just to name a few. We have explored these options for our faceted refinement system for video content system (consisting of 100K+ videos) along with their many roadblocks. Three primary areas of focus involve natural language processing, video frame sampling, and infrastructure deployment.

PhD defense : Multi-points of view semantic enrichment of folksonomies
This thesis, set at the crossroads of Social Web and Semantic Web, is an attempt to bridge Social tagging-based systems with structured representations such as thesauri or ontologies (in the informatics sense). Folksonomies resulting from the use of social tagging systems suffer from a lack of precision that hinders their potentials to retrieve or exchange information. This thesis proposes supporting the use of folksonomies with formal languages and ontologies from the Semantic Web. Automatic processing of tags allows bootstraping the process by using a combination of a custom method analyzing tags' labels and adapted methods analyzing the structure of folksonomies. The contributions of users are described thanks to our model SRTag, which allows supporting diverging points of view, and captured thanks to our user friendly interface allowing the users to structure tags while searching the folksonomy. Conflicts between individual points of view are detected, solved, and then exploited to help a referent user maintain a global and coherent structuring of the folksonomy, which is in return used to garanty the coherence while enriching individual contributions with the others' contributions. The result of our method allows enhancing the navigation within tag-based knowledge systems, but can also serve as a basis for building thesauri fed by a truly bottom up process.

2017 Tutorial - Deep Learning for Dialogue Systems
In the past decade, goal-oriented spoken dialogue systems (SDS) have been the most promi-nent component in today’s virtual personal assistants (VPAs). Among these VPAs, Microsoft’s Cortana, Apple’s Siri, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Facebook’s M, have incorporated SDS modules in various devices, which allow users to speak naturally in order to finish tasks more efficiently. The traditional conversational systems have rather complex and/or modular pipelines. The advance of deep learning technologies has recently risen the applicatins of neural models to dialogue modeling. Nevertheless, applying deep learning technologies for building robust and scalable dialogue systems is still a challenging task and an open research area as it requires deeper understanding of the classic pipelines as well as detailed knowledge on the benchmark of the models of the prior work and the recent state-of-the-art work. Thus, this tutorial is designed to focus on an overview of the dialogue system development while describing most recent research for building dialogue systems, and summarizing the challenges. When designing categories and information structures, it's important to consider things like centrality, fuzzy borders between concepts, cultural and contextual factors, and how the structures may burden certain groups. The goal is to provide useful organization and navigation without unintended consequences.
The global life of local categories
Categories are local constructs that are influenced by culture and embed values. However, as websites and information go global, local categories must also standardize to some degree. When classifying sensitive topics like people or work, taking strictly local categories global can have unintended consequences, so standards and workarounds are needed to balance local and global needs.

Overall life span (LS) was 1671.7±1721.6 days and cumulative 5YS reached 62.4%, 10 years – 50.4%, 20 years – 44.6%. 94 LCP lived more than 5 years without cancer (LS=2958.6±1723.6 days), 22 – more than 10 years (LS=5571±1841.8 days). 67 LCP died because of LC (LS=471.9±344 days). AT significantly improved 5YS (68% vs. 53.7%) (P=0.028 by log-rank test). Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: N0-N12, T3-4, blood cell circuit, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells-CC and blood cells subpopulations), LC cell dynamics, recalcification time, heparin tolerance, prothrombin index, protein, AT, procedure type (P=0.000-0.031). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and N0-12 (rank=1), thrombocytes/CC (rank=2), segmented neutrophils/CC (3), eosinophils/CC (4), erythrocytes/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), stick neutrophils/CC (8), leucocytes/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (error=0.000; area under ROC curve=1.0).
