What is your career path?
Fabien Avril: I earned a Certificate of Professional Competence in heating and plumbing
in 2000, and joined SNH Conraux as an apprentice. Thanks to a lot of hard work and
involvement, my managers put their faith in me and I gradually got promoted, first to team
leader and then to site manager. In 2012, the company I was working for was acquired
by SPIE Est, and I was given the opportunity to have internal training to begin a new career
as a site supervisor. I jumped at the chance!
What does your work today consist of?
F.A.: I’m in charge of the sites that are assigned to me. I am responsible for the application
of methods, quality and the execution of works in compliance with Quality, Safety and
Environment standards. I monitor the progress of work, on both a technical and a financial
level. And it’s even up to me to put together the teams that will be managed by the site
managers.
Do you think SPIE helps its employees to develop?
F.A.: Absolutely. With the support of my managers, I have been able to rise through the
ranks thanks to internal training, even though I’m not very highly qualified! I have been given
the chance to develop because of the practical experience I have acquired and by being
highly motivated.
Fabien Avril, 33, has seen his career take off in new direction.
After twelve years’ experience in plumbing and heating, he was appointed as a site supervisor.
He is grateful to SPIE for giving him this opportunity.
