What attracted you to the SPIE adventure?
Iliase: I decided to get a new job during the first lockdown because I wanted to join a company
that was more closely aligned with my values. So I joined SPIE Belgium’s ICS Division at the
start of the year. After working as a Product Manager for four years, the idea of taking over an
entire product catalogue represented a proper challenge for me. I was also drawn towards
SPIE’s philosophy, which is highly committed to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and
resource optimisation.
What support did you receive while you were integrating into your role in the midst of
the health crisis?
Iliase: I was impressed by the meticulous organisation put in place by my line managers and
by human resources to welcome me. On my very first day, I was given a full schedule that set
out my week. I had face-to-face meetings with members of my team and other meetings
remotely with other colleagues that are key to achieving success in my role. I was introduced
to my mentor, with whom I have regular informal discussions. A telephone meeting was
scheduled with HR after my first 100 days at SPIE to review how I have performed during this
period. I have really appreciated this warm welcome and the fact that I was well looked after
when I started my job, even though I work remotely for the most part. SPIE has managed to
adapt by providing decent tools for working in good conditions despite the pandemic.
What do you enjoy about working at SPIE?
Iliase: I enjoy all the benefits of working for a major group, albeit one with a start-up frame of
mind! SPIE Belgium’s ICS Division has successfully adopted a flexible approach to decision-
making, which makes routine work much easier. Meanwhile, I benefit from the scale of the
SPIEGroup,whichgivesteamswhattheyneedtoachievetheirbusinessandstrategicambitions.
I would add that I already feel like I am part of a big family, even though I’ve only been here a
few months. I immediately felt a sense of togetherness between subsidiaries, united in pursuit
of a common goal.
