“SPIE is one
big family! ”
How did you begin working for SPIE?
Aline Bollotte: After studying for a Master in international human resources
management, I had a series of short-term jobs, mainly in recruitment. My mother
was an expatriate and I was born in Africa, and as a result I had always had the
ambition of experiencing working outside France myself. I found a research position
at SPIE advertised on the Internet. The post was based at the head office in Cergy but
it was attached to the Africa division. I applied and was lucky enough to be hired quickly.
How did your geographical mobility project come about?
A.B.: At my annual appraisal interview, I expressed a desire to work as an expatriate.
My managers offered me a position as a project engineer for the Port Harcourt
district in Nigeria. I have a very wide range of duties: management of expatriate
consultants and off-base offices at our customers’ premises, business opportunities
follow-up, negotiations, costing and preparation of tenders, follow-up of customer
invoicing, identification of opportunities for developing the customer portfolio,
preparation of technical assistance audits and support for the subsidiary’s
recruitment campaigns.
What do you think of SPIE as an employer?
A.B.: SPIE develops a strong feeling of belonging and a great proximity between
employees. In four years, I feel that there’s always been someone there to listen
to my ambitions, enabling me to move on to new functions and to take on
responsibilities. Support from my managers and the HR team has also helped
me develop my skills and my knowledge.
