Low relaxation strands are used for pre-stressed concrete as they lose stress more slowly over time compared to normal strands. This provides benefits like reduced steel and concrete usage, improved performance, and more predictable loading capabilities. Low relaxation strands have properties like less stress relaxation, higher breaking and proof loads, and better corrosion resistance. Quality requirements for strands include standards like ASTM A416 and testing frequencies specified by project specifications and quality control standards. Testing must be done by approved third parties regardless of manufacturer testing and the most stringent requirements must be followed.

Drill stem test (DST) is one of the most famous on-site well testing that is used to unveil critical reservoir and fluid properties such as reservoir pressure, average permeability, skin factor and well potential productivity index. It is relatively cheap on-site test that is done prior to well completion. Upon the DST results, usually, the decision of the well completion is taken.

Determination of Range of Splash of Testing Fluid during Hydro Testing of Kni...ijtsrd
There are certain trivial experimental findings which may not have a major significance but their execution is considered to be of such a nature as to complete the study in the specified area. Likewise in the field of hydro testing of valves and flow equipment, there is a basic requirement of operation of the same under influence of applied hydro pressure. This is required to determine the performance parameters like the thrust and the torque required to operate the equipment. While doing so, in addition to the qualitative requirements, an additional requirement of space has to be considered to ensure the surrounding area is not affected due to splashes of the testing fluid while under pressure. This paper shall consider such a case for hydro testing of a knife gate valve. At a given pressure, when the door or gate of the valve is initiated to open, there is an initial splash of testing fluid which ejects out of the orifice created due to the opening. The horizontal range of this splash shall be mathematically determined. An experimental finding shall then be presented to confirm the derived formulae. A conclusion shall be drawn thereafter dictating the percentage error and the employability of the derived formulae. ASTM B117 Testing quality control by Micom LaboratoriesMichel Comtois
ASTM B117 Testing, also known as a Standard Practice for Operating Salt Spray (Fog) Apparatus, is used to analyze relative corrosion for specimens of metals and coated metals exposed to various simulated climatic conditions in a controlled environment. This testing practice was initially published in 1939 and rapidly gained worldwide acceptance across all major industry segments.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.
Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Quality Bulletin # 50
Low Relaxation PT Strands for
Pre-stressed Concrete
Why Low Relaxation Strands?
Low Relaxation Strands that are pre-stressed and
embedded in concrete lose the initially applied stress
exponentially with the passage of time. The utmost
important factor attributing to this loss in stress is the stress
relaxation property of the steel itself. By treating the steel
through a thermomechanical process known as stabilizing,
the propensity of the steel to “relax” under a stressed
condition is controlled to a great extent.
Some of the advantage are :
· Up to 10% reduction in steel reinforcement is possible,
· Savings in No.of strands being used,
· Reduction in concrete requirement due to reduced size
of structural members,
· Less loss of initial tension, resulting improved & more
predictable service performance, and in many cases
allow a higher load carrying capability,
· Provide improvements in deflection and crack control.
Benefits of Low-relaxation strands Vs Normal
relaxation strands :
· Less relaxation loss,
· Higher breaking loads,
· Higher proof loads,
· Higher fatigue and corrosion resistance,
· Better performance at elevated temperature.
Quality requirements of PT Strands :
· Applicable code of practices :
o ASTM A416
o BS 5896
o BS EN ISO 15630-3
The scope of BS 5896 standard applies only to products as
supplied by the producer.
Test Frequency requirements :
Project specification :
· Relaxation: 3 samples on random reels+ other
requirements
· Tensile : 1 sample from each reel
QCS 2014, Section 5, Part 18 – Prestressed Concrete
· Relaxation : 3 samples per each reel
· Tensile : 1 sample per every 1000m of length
QCS 2014, Section 2, Part 14 – Quality Assurance and
Quality Control
· Relaxation : 1 test per each batch
· Tensile : 1 test per each reel
It should be noted that ASTM A416 and BS 5896 are silent
on the required testing frequency for the relaxation testing.
Testing – Other requirements :
As per project specification & QCS 2014, All required
testing shall be performed by approved 3rd party
laboratories irrespective of whether the material have been
tested by the manufacturer of by an intermediate party or
the availability of conformity certificates, also the Contractor
shall carry out the maximum number of tests, i.e. whichever
condition comes first (i.e. whichever is more frequent).
In case of conflict between the requirements mentioned in
the project specification & QCS, the most stringent
requirements shall take precedence, or as approved by the
Engineer.
ASTM A416 Requirements :
BS 5896:2012 Requirements :
Duration of the testing :
As per Cl. 6.5 ASTM A416m the relaxation testing shall be
carried out for 1000 hours.
As per Cl. 8.4.9 of BS EN ISO 15630-3:2010, a common
duration of the testing is 120 or 1000 hrs, however the value
of stress relaxation at 1000 hrs (or more) may be
extrapolated from tests terminating at not less than 120 hrs,
where adequate evidence is provided that the extrapolated
1000 hrs (or more) value is equivalent to the actual 1000
hrs (or more) value. In this case, the extrapolation method
should be clearly described in the test report.
Where the projects allow testing to be carried out to this minimum
requirement, a cost saving will be offered to the Client.
