The document describes the process taken by Zachary Millward and Ryan Gault in developing an idea for their extended school project. They initially planned to cover humorous songs by Stephen Lynch but found it tedious. They then reverted to their original plan of an original humorous song. Zachary would write lyrics and Ryan would create the soundtrack. After trying different music programs, they finalized a song called "The Royal Rap" with Zachary rapping from the perspective of Queen Elizabeth II.

 Original song
 We originally decided that we wanted to produce a
song with a humorous twist, along the lines of Weird
Al Yankovich.We researched into him and similar
artists such as NicePeter’s Epic Rap Battles of
History, and started Writing lyrics whilst thinking of
what we could do for The soundtrack.

Stephen Lynch
We changed our plan to a more upbeat happier idea of
covering Stephen Lynch’s humorous songs ‘Special Ed’,
‘She Got A Smile’ and ‘Caught Me'. We started to learn
the songs well and then it became tedious and
reasonably dull.

Reverting back to our original idea, we
decided to produce an original song with a
humorous twist. The song’s lyrics were written by
myself and The soundtrack created by Ryan to fit the
lyrics And give a good beat to support the vocals.

 We're managing our use of time by working together with our
ideas, contributing different creative musical attributes towards
this project. We're going to finish off each piece, him with the
lyrics and myself with the soundtrack to go with it. On Friday
the 16th we will go and rehearse the entire thing together, fine
tuning each part of the soundtrack if we are unhappy with it at
any stage and making the lyrics fit nicely with it, again altering
any parts of the lyrics if they don't quite sound right. Once
everything is in order we will be ready to present on Tuesday
the 20th.

 For the Royal Rap we will use a ZOOM H2 to record my lyrics
as a basis to look back on and improvise. For the soundtrack
Ryan will use Acid Xpress 7, a musical program for creating
songs with tracks from EMI. We will combine the two and
playback, then do some editing to the soundtrack if need be
and change some lyrics if need be.
We looked at other comical original songs popular on YouTube
and decided to run with a fast paced type of lyrical pattern.
We looked at some examples of NicePeter's Epic Rap Battles of
History, some of Weird Al Yankovich, and other artists known
for their parodies and original comical songs

 We developed our idea through the want to make an original piece
of music, but also enjoy the process and have a good time with it.
So, this resulted in the desire for a humorous song with musical
capabilities tied in. Ryan and I have knowledge of performing and
musical arts, so we used our abilities as an advantage for this
project and this resulted in the Royal Rap. We developed the idea
by discussing what we could work with, we agreed that I would
write the lyrics and Ryan would make the soundtrack. After
realising what we had to do, the choices of how to create a
soundtrack to fit with the finished lyrics was tricky, we tried a
large range of tracks from the EMI instruments to royalty free
music online. After choosing what we wanted, I created a simple
but effective beat to play for the song. Creating the entire track was
tricky as there were many technical difficulties with the programs I
was trying to use (Cubase and Acid Xpress).
