The document discusses plans for a music video for the fictional 1960s girl group "The DollyBirds". It outlines the narrative, locations, performers, style, technology, props, logistics, target audience, and production details. Key points include using the drama hall for performances, a sepia tone to represent 1960s TV, costumes and hair inspired by 1960s styles, and casting friends in roles like the lead singer and a married couple to depict relationship struggles.
2. Influences
Together we discussed what influences our choices on
different aspects of our music video. We used Google, the
search engine, to research a variety of things
3.
4. Concept
The girl group we are working for are called The DollyBirds, the
lead singer Daisy writes her own lyrics for their songs and
performs with two backing singers.
Narrative
Two people, man & wife
Happily married but fight. A lot.
Was their marriage rushed? Did they loose the spark?
Man is always going off and walking out when times get tough.
They fight, then go back to reality asap.
Performance
The girl group (3 girls) on a stage singing (lipsyncing).
5. Concept
Locations
We are using James (the husband’s) house as their family
home, where quite a lot of the filming will be produced. As he
has a free house for a few weeks during the period when we
wanted to film.
The drama hall in our school will be used for when The
DollyBirdsare performing, we chose this because we have
access to high quality lighting and staging.
The use of James’ car, recording form inside
Pace
• The whole video is at a normal pace.
Colour and tone
• We are using a brown fade (similar to sepia) on top of our shots
which also has a gritty look – representing the 1960’s television
and the interference in the radio stations back in the day.
6. The Artist, Style and Form
For The DollyBirdswe want a simple 60’s woman look
(look back to influences).
Hair – ‘Big’, ‘Bouffant’, ‘60’s’, ‘Swinging outwards’
Costume – ‘Mini dress’, ‘Pastel colours’, ‘Plain’
We decided Rosie would be Daisy, the leadsinger of The
DollyBirdsbecause she is a natural performer, actually
writes and sings her own songs and also holds gigs. She
is very friendly and enthusiastic, and her apperance and
style fits perfectly.
7. The Artist, Style and Form
We are still pending on the two
backing singers for The
DollyBirds.
At the beginning of the song,
there is a gentleman presenter,
we decided to Oliver would be
appropriate to use as he is very
confident and we think he could
pull it off!
James, has agreed to play the
part as husband. He is one of he
best actors in our school many
would agree, very good drama
student and extremely
enthusiastic.
Nula is going to be the wife in
our music video because we
thought that her and James
could show the relationship that
we wanted to come across, and
8. Technology
We will be using the technology that is available to us…
Rosie’s phone – listening to the song during lesson to spark off
ideas.
Charlotte’s iPhone 5 – for some video recording and
photographs, also if we want to edit photos for the digipak or
website on app’s for example Instagram (good range of
appropriate effects) or PicStitch for example (collages and
editing).
Rosie’s or the school’s video camera – for the actual footage for
the music video.
Both of our Apple Macbook’s for research and everything else,
including editing the final music video on iMovie.
In school software including Microsoft. Editing software – Adobe
premiere cs4 and cs5.
9. Props
If we had a bigger budget then we
would of done more research into
investing into actual 60’s, vintage
props instead we have made do
with what we can realistically
afford or find!
The backdrop… staging material,
silver/grey velvet.
Microphones and stands from the
music department.
James car.
Cheap plates from Wilkinson's.
10. Logistics
Problems we might anticipate?
Weather – at a few points in the music video we are
hoping for rain, therefore we are going to depend on
Charlotte’s iPhone ‘Weather’ app.
Backup plans?
If we are unable to use James’ house, we will just
use one of our own houses during the half term if we
need to.
Production ambitious?
Expense of props, e.g. costumes and wigs.
Actually being able to get hold of vintage and 60’s
props.
Making sure that the husband and wife argument
looks professional, and not tacky/boring.
11. Target Audience
Our target audience are mostly female, it would appeal to only a
small percentage of the males. The age range being simply 17
upwards as many of our generation are into ‘Indie’ and ‘vintage’
this would hopefully appeal to them, for example the costumes,
props and materials. But also would appeal to the middle-aged
and older generation because it is their generation song. The
target audience would have a keen interest into the 60’s music.
We done two separate focus groups on 3 young gentlemen and 3
young women, which went really well.
To reach our target audience, we have set up a hotmail email
account, twitter and facebook page – the generations we have
aimed this music at would all be part of these social networking
sites and would be able to follow The DollyBirds and keep up-to-
date.
