Newts Vs Female Dating Essay
t may be time to crown male newts as the female arousing kings the amphibians release powerful pheromones that put females in the mood to mate with
practically any adult around, even other females from different newt species, new research shows. The females react as if they re under the influence of drugs,
said lead researcher Franky Bossuyt, a biologist at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Free University of Brussels) in Belgium. We were convinced that if we put in a
plastic toy moving at the right speed, they would follow it. Newts typically live on land as adults and mate exclusively in water. During the breeding season,
males adopt intense color patterns and grow skin extensions on their legs, tail and crest. These changes are thought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Newt mating game To find out, researchers placed male female pairs of alpine newts (Ichthyosaura alpestris) and palmate newts (Lissotriton helveticus) into
water filled plastic containers for receptivity tests. The newts passed the test and were ready for the next phase if they completed the courtship ritual (females
weren t allowed to complete the insemination). The team then put two female pairs into pheromone infused courtship water; some pairs consisted of two alpine
newts, other pairs had one female of each species. If the water contained pheromones from a male of her species, the female would desperately try to court the
other female. In some cases, two female alpine newts tried to follow each other, resulting in the pair circling one another. In some two species trials, one
female chased after another, even as the unreceptive partner tried to escape the container. [See video of the sex crazed newts] But the amphibians didn t remain
patient forever. Not receiving the spermatophore she expected, the courting female eventually started waving her tail at her partner, possibly sending out

Examples Of Gamesmanship In Sports
ETHICS OF SPORTS
To understand the role ethics plays in sport competition. It is important to make distinction between gamesmanship sportsmanship.
Gamesmanship is built on the principle that winning is everything. Athletes coaches are encouraged to bend the rules wherever possible in order to gain a
competitive advantage over an opponent to pay less attention to the safety welfare of the competition. Some of the key tenants of gamesmanship are:
1. WINNING IS EVERYTHING.
2. It s only cheating if you get caught.
3. It is the referee s job to catch wrongdoing the athletes coaches have no inherent responsibility to follow the rules.
4. The ends always justify the means. Some examples of gamesmanship are :
1. Faking a foul or injury. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Covert personal fouls, such as grabbing a player underwater during a water polo match.
5. Inflicting pain on an opponent with the intention of knocking him or her out of the game.
6. Like that saint s bounty scandal.
7. The use of performance, enhancing drugs.
8. Taunting or intimidating an opponent.
9. A coach lying about an athlete s grades in order to keep him or her eligible to play.
A more ethical approach to athletics is sportsmanship. Under a sportsmanship model, healthy competition is seen as a means of cultivating personal honour,
virtue character. It contributes to a community of respect trust between competitors in society. The goal in sportsmanship is not simply to win, but to pursue
victory with honour by giving one s best effort.
Ethics in sport requires 4 key virtues:
Fairness , Integrity , Responsibility Respect.
1. Fairness:
1. All athletes coaches must follow established rules guidelines of their respective sport.
2. Teams that seek an unfair competitive advantage over their opponent create an uneven playing field which violates the integrity of the sport.
3. Athletes coaches are not discriminated against or excluded from participating in a sport based on their race, gender, or sexual

Lorenzo De Medici Influence
Without the guidance and support of Lorenzo Medici, a patron of the arts who lived in Florence (1449 1492), the art and architecture of the fifteenth century
and its influence on later art would not be as great as it is today. Guided by the way he was raised, those he had around him, and what he did for the art
community, even as a young patron, de Medici changed the time period itself. Earning the title Lorenzo de Magnifico for his success promoting and supporting
artists, and not because of his political leadership, Lorenzo Medici made an important contribution to the world of art and architecture as one of the time s
major patrons. Throughout this research paper, I will write about several different aspects of de Medici s life. First ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
[2] In addition to improving the structure of the church, de Medici also started to pay particular attention to the collection of books within the Palazzo Medici.
Interested in creating a foundation of books for his own thinking and contribute to the library started by his grandfather, Cosimo I, de Medici sought to
purchase an expanding number of books that eventually led to the expanded collection and future bases of the Biblioteca Laurenziana. The library today
contains some of the most ancient or unique manuscripts from Greek antiquity, illustrating the appreciation de Medici had for classical antiquity from an early
age. With these successes, de Medici did not stop his pursuit of enhancing spaces, and he because he wanted to identify and foster new talents in which he
could invest money and energy, Lorenzo opened the sculpture garden in Piazza San Marco. The creation of this public space, in addition to the more obvious
contributions to his family s holdings, gives the idea that de Medici really wanted to create a sense of well being for the young minds of writers and artists that
surrounded him. de Medici wanted them to have their

Salt River Labs Case Study Essay
Salt River Labs
Q What is the major problem at SRL? Who are the people involved and how do they contribute to the problem?
1. There are many problems that are apparent at Salt River Labs. The first major problem is the purchasing process. There are way too many people involved
in this process. The current process involves series of five different people, or groups of people. This starts with the Chemists who send requisitions to
supervisors, who send the requisition to Suzie Martinez, who sends the same requisition to Barbara, who finally sends the requisition to Arthur who makes the
final decision about the requisition. Once a decision to approve or disapprove the requisition has been made, the requisition gets sent to Paul ... Show more

All of these trust/hostility issues are caused by a lack of communication among the entire organization. Communication is the root of many of the problems at
this company. Equipment breakage is a very pertinent problem as well. Equipment continuously breaks and SRL does not have the money or the resources
necessary to fix the broken machines. The machine that has been fixed already has not been picked up from Hewlett Packard because of the fact that SRL does
not have the money to do so. So, SRL has a fixed machine that they cannot use because of the debt the company is undergoing. Another problem that is
apparent at Salt River Labs is the inventory situation. Ever since SRL moved from their old building to the new building, the inventory has been left in the
boxes they were transferred in. Nothing has been unloaded which is leading to the problem of not knowing exactly what is in house. This inventory issue
affects Arthur s opinion on the chemists because he doesn t think that the chemists thoroughly search for the materials they need before ordering more. All of
the problems listed above are causing late orders, and if orders are late or even non existent, then the company will eventually go out of business. Lastly,
Arthur needs to provide a financial analysis that explains where money has been coming from and going to for the past 5 years. He has to have some type of
budget plan, and if he is unable to provide an accurate one for the company then

Domestic Violence People who live together trust one another. Children trust parents to love them not to hurt them and give the economic support as well as
the emotional support to grow up, in a romantic relationship a women should be able to trust the man she is with as well as man should be able to trust the
women she is with. One thing that breaks trust in these relationships is abuse.
Abuse
Abuse varies in every relationship. Abuse can be physical, such as slapping, punching, using weapons. Mental abuse includes verbal abuse that brings a victim
s self esteem down, this leads to depression and making the victim feel worthless. Another form of abuse is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some abusers are uncomfortable with feelings such as, being lonely, sadness, embarrassment, or even love. Abusers often get violent when they start to feel
these emotions or when they start running out of words to keep arguing verbally. Alcohol is proven to contribute to abuse. When a person is drunk or had been
drinking they tend to not be fully capable of thinking straight. Drinking tends to make people lose their temper easier. When a parent is drunk it is best to leave
the house if possible, when a partner is drunk it is best not to argue especially if they tend to get angry fairly easy.
Domestic Violence Each year, an estimated 30 percent of women who become homicide victims die at the hands of men with whom they have a family
(Thomson Gale, 2005, p. 21). People blame the murdered women for not leaving the relationship. Unfortunately people do not realize that most women that
leave the relationship have a higher risk of being murdered at the time of separation. They have a 75% higher risk of being murdered if they leave than the
women that stay. Men also are victims of domestic violence. In domestic violence men make up five percent of the victims it has. A need of control leads
abusers to act out violence. Every year, at least one million women are physically, sexually, psychologically abused by their husbands, or common law
partners, two women are murdered by their male partners every week (Thomson Gale, 2005, p.26).

The Cultural Value Model Of Japan And Japan
The cultural value model that is being used in this outline is Hofstede s Model. Although Japan and America have quite a few economic and technologic
similarities, they contrast in many ways. The biggest difference between these two countries is Individualism vs. Collectivism. Hofstede himself finds that both
of these cultures differ significantly on most these diminesions (Shah).
PART 1: Compare and Contrast Cultural Values
Power Distance
Power distance in cultures refers to the way that power is distributed between people. It can be measured by the extent of how individuals within that culture
accept who has power and who doesn t. In places with a lower power distance, individuals act equal regardless of their formal positions. Japan places much
more emphasis on power distance in their culture than America does. This is because it s a lot more hierarchical. While some individuals in America lack
respect for those in higher positions, this is simply not tolerated in Japan. For example, direct eye contract when speaking to someone who has more authority
is frowned upon in Japan. The differences in power distance between these two cultures was clear from the movie as every Japanese person knew their role and
what was expected from them. The Americans working in the factory were more selfish and disrespectful towards management. Insubordination is not
tolerated in Japan like it is in America.

Analysis of Night and Fog Essay
The effective war film is often the one in which the action begins after the war, when there is nothing but ruins and desolation everywhere...
Francois Truffaut
Francois Truffaut continued on to say that Alain Resnais Night and Fog, made in 1955, was the greatest film ever made . The 30 minute film based on the
horrors of the Holocaust and Nazi concentration camps after World War II combines Resnais own cinematography with original images and footage of the
captives in their unfathomable state. The film is lead with a somber narrative that not only accompanies the sobering images being shown but both
compliments them and puts them into perspective. Carl R. Plantigna s chapter from his book Rhetoric and Representation in ... Show more content on

For example, the shot at approximately 9:05 that shows an image of naked, skeletal prisoners waiting in line where the voice over narrates nudity strips the
inmates of all pride in one stroke demonstrates this authoritative position as the voice is dry and matter of fact in contrast to the horrifying image, yet it is
somber with empathy. Together with image choice, music and cinematography, this Voice of God narration personifies the films perspective in order to not
only show but to explain to the viewers the meaning of what is on the screen.
Plantigna deliberates on various differences between the fiction and non fiction filmmaker, particularly the role of imagination to the two differing styles of
film. He discusses that the fiction filmmaker freely creates imaginative events , where the non fiction filmmaker portrays or makes explicit claims about actual
historical events (104). He then puts forth the idea that imagination is also important for the non fiction filmmaker as he as the creator decides how to represent
historical events (104). This is demonstrated in shot 237 where Resnais camera pans over the ceiling of a gas chamber that has been carved in and scored by
human fingernails and the voice over narrates, the only sign but you have to know is this ceiling, dug into by fingernails . Here, Resnais using his imaginative
ability, has seamlessly

Deportation Analysis
According to the Pew Research Center (2014), in 2013 the Obama Administration deported a total of 438,421 unauthorized immigrants (Gonzalez Barrera
Krogstad, 2014). These deportations were expounded upon certain races and unauthorized immigrants of specific ethnic background. More and more
Americans want stricter immigration laws and fewer outsiders who are not native born out of the United states. By ensuing prejudice throughout the nation,
deportation is as form of discrimination.
Deportation, like discrimination, excludes people of a specific race, religion, or ethnic background. Deportation categorizes the immigrant via visa status, with
ethnicity, race or religion. Patrick Simon (2013), International Migration and Minorities Expert, states,
Direct discrimination occurs if a person or a group is treated unfavorably because of their immigrant background. The second refers to a situation where

immigrants who have been convicted of crimes (Cole, 2010; p 368). This court case basically found that immigrants, not being naturalized, can be detained
because they will not have the same rights until granted

The Importance Of Political Parties In The United States
b.The people s trust in the government and their political leaders has been in decline since the 1970 s. Pre 1970s people had more faith in the honesty of the
government but after the Watergate scandal that trust diminished and in turn we became more scrutinizing more critical and demanding of our leaders. for
example our scrutiny over the NSA and government surveillance was a prime example of how we are distrustful of our government and what they are doing.
After we were told that we were being watched we criticized the NSA, some became paranoid that all of our texts are being spied on and that they are storing
all our personal information. This affects the political efficacy and viewpoints of many americans. Some people may not want to vote because they are
distrustful of their candidates or of the system, and some decide to become an independent and take away importance from political parties which according to
some are untrustworthy. This also has affected what is published in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Voting and political participation are key components of democracy and without them we would not be able to run this country. Political participation although
important is on the decline and is a result of the average non voters ideas. the average non voter believes that his one vote is not going to make a difference, or
it s rigged, or they don t have time to vote. This results in lowering political participation. Another cause is that many people are not always well educated
about civics and what they can do to participate in the government and because of that they may not be aware of how to caucus or how or where to go primary.
whatever the issue with the voter is it always ends in one result a large part of americans not voting even though it is extremely important. This participation is
also affected by the media and how they portray the candidates to the public, this will affect who the voter likes rather than forming their own opinion they just
go with the media their

Tamerlan Dzhokhar (Julia Malakie/Lowell Sun)
Both friends and authorities believe the darkest influence of all was his 26 year old brother, Tamerlan, who is said to have been both a father figure for him and
the driving force behind the attack.
Unlike his quiet younger sibling, who became a US citizen on the eleventh anniversary of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center, Tamerlan was fiery and
theatrical.
He was a flashy, eccentric fellow, said Eddie Bishop, a boxing trainer who moved in the same amateur fighting circles as Tamerlan. Mr Bishop recalled an
occasion in 2009 when he came into the ring in cowboy hat, boots and leather trousers. I saw him as someone who had a lot of ability but lacked the stillness
and confidence of a fighter s heart, he said.
Over time, Tamerlan swapped his gaudy outfits for a growing religious fervor and once casual references to his Muslim faith evolved into prayer mats in the
gym and constant talk of Islam.

He married Katherine Russell, a 24 year old American convert to Islam, in June 2010 in a hastily arranged ceremony at a Dorchester mosque, where a red and

Why Was The Magna Carta Created
King John ruled England at the beginning of the thirteenth century. Not only did he rule, but he ruled with full power under the monarchial government. His
choices were not fair. They triggered many problems between foreign countries who were the country s tax payers, causing the people of England s taxes to
rise. Throughout a very long and winded process, the English barons became unhappier with the decisions King John had been making. This is why the Magna
Carta was created. The Magna Carta is a document that was originally created in the year of 1215. This name is presented in the Latin Language, meaning The
Great Charter. A charter is a written endowment by a country s legislation by which an institution, or in this case, government, ... Show more content on

Even though this was true, they were directly produced to King John to stop his unfair rule. This document is considered a landmark document because
initially it only applied to the country of England. It issued many important laws that are used today. It made sure that the cruel and unusual punishments that
were not forbidden became illegal. This is simply because of moral rights. Another major clause in the Great Charter was that one person cannot be held
responsible for a crime without a trial by jury of his/her friends. Also, a major clause of the document is that justice should not be sold or unnecessarily
overdue. Throughout history, the Magna Carta was modified and sort of recreated . By the twentieth century, only three major clauses remained in the
document. The first clause granted freedom to the Church of England. These churches are Christian Catholic with strong beliefs in their religious rights.
Furthermore, they guarantee the customs and liberties of the English city of London. Lastly, they forbid uninformed arrest and the transaction of justice. Unlike
most historical documents, whether declaring freedom from a king or any other form of government, the Magna Carta has no official copy. Each copy had at
least three thousand six hundred words written exclusively. Only four of the original copies are remaining today. Many different versions of the Magna Carta
were established between the years 1225 and 1297. Matter of fact, one original copy from 1217 recently sold for 21.3 million

2. The author is a young ethnographer researching teenagers (p.193). What difference does our knowledge of her age and other personal details make to the
account?
Ethnographic research implies that researcher is obtaining the data by observing researched people in their common environment and with common
circumstances (Silverman, 2010). It has been discovered that this style of research requires trustful relationships between researcher and the researched,
especially when the ethnography is made in the closed settings and access to researcher is granted from the head. In analyzed study permission was acquired
exactly in this way, and Russell described a large number of problems related to establishment of trust and balancing between two sides: teachers and students.
Cassell and Symon (2004) argue that gathering information in case of no trust in ethnographic research might be difficult. To prove that they provide an
example of Westley (1970) study. In this research the author experienced a large number of obstacles, such as unwillingness to give an interview during his
fieldwork in police organization in USA.
All noted above directly relates to the question, because identity of the researcher is intricately linked to the problem of trust establishment. The fact, that the
author at the time of fieldwork was much younger than teaching

Michel Foucault s Theory Of Discipline And Punishment
Michel Foucault states in Discipline and Punishment that the Panopticon is a marvelous machine which, whatever use one may wish to put it to, produces
homogeneous effects of power (Foucault 188). Examining the evolution, physical characteristics, and psychological effects of the Panopticon allows one to
understand the mechanism by which the Panopticon produces power. Most inventions develop through an evolutionary process while attempting to improve a
situation or solve a problem. Often, a prototype precedes a new structure or mechanism. Foucault uses the term projects to describe two historical events and
the social responses to resolve the problems associated with these events. He suggests that the Panopticon developed from these two projects, the quarantine of
the plague and colonizing the lepers. Foucault describes how the Panopticon developed from a seventeenth century order issued to deal with the scourge of the
plague. First, a strict spatial partitioning: the closing of the town and its outlying districts was mandated (Foucault 181). The town was further divided into
quarters, streets, and households. A syndic who was in the charge of an intendant supervised each family in their residence. A considerable body of militia and
guards at the gate ensured that the magistrate over the town had absolute authority (Foucault 181). Only the syndics, intendants, and guards moved about the
streets (Foucault 181). They monitored and reported the

would always sound pure and the same. Another unique thing about the music and culture in the 1600 s is that it was also healthy for the body. During the

I could imagine how tired I would be after so many hours of dancing. We had two people to visit our school and what I learned about the women were that no

American Idol: A Big Hit for Marketing Research?
Management decision problem confronting Melissa Marcello and Julie Litzenberger and a corresponding marketing research problem and the linkages
between the two.
From the case study, it is evident that Marcello and Litzenberger face a critical management decision problem. Their respective firms encounter challenges
while trying to convince clients about the role of marketing research (Malhotra, p. 781). Most clients are assertive that their firms are productive even without
marketing research. In essence, prospective clients perceive professional marketing as a platform for unnecessary expenditures. Other skeptics were assertive
that they had sufficient information about consumer trends for their brands. Such misconceptions had negative implications on the performance of Marcello s
and
Litzenberger s firms. Apart from management decision, a marketing research problem faces the two executives. This challenge pertains to the survey
techniques used in marketing research. Some skeptics argue against the validity of methods used in professional marketing research. For instance, it is difficult
to convince prospective clients about the reliability of the samples used in professional marketing (Malhotra, p. 780).
Additionally, the issue of information privacy is another perspective that

The Mackenzie commission was created by the liberal government. The Commission served two purposes, to ensure the legitimacy of the RCMP s practices,

management of this new service to ensure there are clear operational et juridical limits. The recommendations made to improve the services efficiency, were, to

Honor Of Honor By Marcus Brutus
There is something about honor that makes people ask themselves what honor really means. Honor could have many different interpretations. According to the
Merriam Webster dictionary, honor is specified as someone who is respected, has a good reputation, and who is genuinely a good person. With this denotation
in mind, some people might suggest that honor has not changed over time because some people were looked upon as honorable in the middle ages. For
example, Julius Caesar and Marcus Brutus were both perceived as honorable men throughout the play. However, this depends on someone s interpretation of
honor because the Merriam Webster definition stated that honor is described as someone who is genuinely a good person. Towards the end of the play Marcus
Brutus killed Julius Caesar. Therefore, he was no longer respected. Years ago society thought of honor differently. An honorable person was someone who was
most likely a knight or a king. The knights went to battle for their masters. In American today, armies go into battle for their country and loved ones. Citizens
today might characterize honor as a person or group who does something that is an honorable act. For instance, some might say that Superman is honorable,
yet Iron Man is not. Although both Iron Man and Superman save lives, Iron Man is complaisant and greedy. There is no question that the aspect of honor has
changed over time. The concept of honor is different now than it was over 100 years ago. To begin, at least

The Eu And Saving Syrians From Despair
The EU and Saving Syrians from Despair Robert Fico, the Prime minister of Slovakia, claimed that Enforced solidarity is an oxymoron (Swidlicki). Although
the European Union has made plans to have member nations take in Syrian refugees, some nations of the Eastern Bloc, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and the
Czech Republic, have rejected this plan, thinking that it would lead to chaos in Europe. However, across most of Central and Northern Europe, especially in
Germany, it is a very different story. Münster University professor Dietrich Thraenhardt said that conservatives in Germany do not play the race card like in

it is highly likely that Slovakia will continue to reject refugees because, according to Fico, they are impossible to integrate and have a different relationship to

most of the rest of the European nations accept them.
On January 6th of this year in Köln, there was a rally supporting the immigration of Syrian refugees into Germany. This summed up the views of many
Western and Northern European nations concerning the importation of Syrian Refugees into their countries. In Germany citizens welcomed the refugees in
many different and very special ways. In soccer stadiums, Crowds at various different clubs displayed large banners with the message Refugees Welcome

Sexually Transmitted Diseases In The United States
Syphilis, AIDS, herpes, these are something no one wants, unfortunately, thousands live day to day in hiding with these diseases. The number of reported
sexually transmitted disease, also known as venereal disease, have greatly increased since the mid 1900s. There are roughly twenty five different types of
sexually transmitted diseases in the United States that we encounter, such as HIV, AIDS, genital warts, chlamydia, herpes, gonorrhea, hepatitis, syphilis,
vaginitis and trichomonas s. In most states today, medically, accurate sex education is required to be taught in public schools to the youth community at some

There are many sites that parents need to talk to their children about and regulate such as facebook, snap chat, Instagram, Hot or Not, You tube, skype and

encounter on a daily basis. In the United States all states allow minors to consent to their own health services for sexually transmitted diseases. Today children
are developing at a much faster rate and having sex at an earlier age unlike previous generations. Some of the action items that we can do to help reduce the
occurrences in our youth is to have them tested yearly and educate our youth on the causes and prevention methods. There are injections that help prevent
some of the STD s such as the HPV vaccination. Scientist are still doing research on more vaccines that may later on be able to help reduce these diseases. But
until then we need to make sure that our children are equipped with the knowledge about these diseases. Most of the youth do not realize that by using barriers

I would set up new policies to reduce the homelessness worldwide. However, first I would identify each category based on one s situation. It is certain that
many homeless people are judged as mentally ill or addicts, as this is true for the majority of the homeless people. Surely, not all are necessarily mentally ill or
addicts. For this reason, all situations have to be classified by one s mental state, drug addiction, financial hardship or abuse. Based on theses classification I
would create a policy for each category as following; all the homeless will have health benefits to obtain the proper care and treatment based on their current
condition, food will be a part of the benefits to maintain their health intact, and a home will be provided as a limited once in a lifetime benefit for those that are
not disabled. With this being said, I am setting a time frame for all individuals that have been helped to seek employment within the first year. In addition,
counseling and drug testing will be mandatory for some individuals, at the start of the application as well as any random day within the year. Definitely,
policies are very important to understand the rules and regulations that are

Case 1: Q1: What is the most likely cause of this patient s hypocalcemia? Explain your answer?
The most cause of hypocalcemia for this patient is osteomalacia for many reasons. First, this patient had a history of Crohn disease and multiple bowel
resection surgeries. That effect on the absorption of vitamin D or breaking down food to release vitamin D. As a result, calcium was decreased because vitamin
D decreased which helps to absorb calcium. The second reason is her weight loss 32 pounds after she had surgery three years earlier, which also lead to
decrease vitamin D that helps to decrease calcium absorption.
Q2: Which of the following statements regarding laboratory tests in metabolic bone disease is false?Explain your answer?
A) serum calcium is typically normal in the patient with osteoporosis.
b) alkaline phosphatase is typically elevated is osteoporosis.
c) serum phosphorus is typically normal in the patient with Paget disease.
d) patient with hyperparathyroidism often develop hypercalcemia.
a) Serum calcium is typically normal in patient with osteoporosis this is a wrong statement because calcium plays an important role in the bone remodeling
process, and the deficiency of calcium leads to impaired bone deposition. So, patient with osteoporosis has low bone strength as a result of calcium deficiency.

British Imperialism In South East Asia
Imperialism is defined as a policy of extending a country s power and influence through colonization, use of military force, or other means (Britannica, 2018).
British imperialism had various consequences of Burma (Myanmar from 1989) in South East Asia over the past two centuries both positively and negatively in
a number of ways. Some of these major consequences effected the country politically through the Anglo Burmese wars, economically due to loss of trade to
Britain and socially by losing the Burmese culture.

Lighting Technician Personal Statement
Throughout my degree I have always been sure that I wanted to pursue a career as a lighting technician (or spark) in the film industry. I have always held an
interest in this area of the industry as my Brother Charlie Jenkins (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5340410/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1) is a successful lighting

SUN Microsystems Case Analysis
Sun Microsystems had an extremely tough decision to make in regards to its procurement strategy. They had to decide if they were going to take on an E
sourcing or dynamic bidding auction type strategy with making purchases from their suppliers. Taking on this type of procurement strategy would benefit Sun
with cost savings on procurements, but may jeopardize their supplier relationships and quality of inputs for Sun products.
After reviewing the enclosed financial data for Sun from 1996 1999, it is apparent that some trends are consistent. Sun s cost of goods sold has consistently
been around half of their revenue for prior fiscal years, resulting in an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It would allow Sun to choose their supplier by cost and match that with their internal aggregated demand figures. This would raise competition between
suppliers and allow Sun to reduce their procurement costs. Sun would have to take many factors into consideration when bidding on suppliers such that quality
and integrity are not affected, thus tampering with their relationships with their suppliers.
Advantages: A dynamic bidding system has the potential to reduce costs through price flexibility; it is fast and conveniently transacted through the Internet,
and allows for expanded competition among suppliers.
Disadvantages: With so much focus on lower prices, initial quality would be affected, current supplier relationships would deteriorate, collusion of suppliers
could result, and the possibility of an Internet security threat could arise.
Sun prides itself on strategic supplier relationships. Making this type of change in procurement strategy may affect these relationships. Sun management has to
decide if it wants to continue its ethical business through strong supplier relationships, or follow the greed trail of money hungry corporations. I would involve
top management from all of my major suppliers in making such a decision and let them see my side of the business. I have to cut costs, so we can work

Dyslexia Teaching
Understanding Dyslexia: Defining, Identifying, and Teaching Research suggests that while there is no cure for Dyslexia, students can adapt through multi

what dyslexia is, what causes it, and the steps to identifying a student who struggles with reading and shows signs of dyslexia (Allen, 2010). According to
Allen (2010), of those who have identified as having a learning disability, 80% are affected by a reading disability. According to Dejerine, Dyslexia is

After their struggles are recognized, good teaching will allow them to perform to the best of their ability (MacKay, 1997). In order to make students with
dyslexia feel more comfortable about reading there are a few steps to follow. While telling students to read a book and then write a paper on it may seem like
basic instructions, to a student with dyslexia that could seem like a nightmare. MacKay presents a few steps to follow when reading which include: title,
captions, pictures, questions, and reading. This is very beneficial to a student with dyslexia because his/her brain needs tasks to be broken down otherwise they
will feel like they are out of memory (MacKay, 1997). There are many organizational tools that are helpful when reading or categorizing information.
Brainstorming is a great tool because no organization is required, it is simply just putting thoughts on paper (MacKay, 1997). When timing is appropriate to
organize the information mind maps would be beneficial. Mind maps are a way to put your ideas together and sort information into paragraphs in order to
compile a paper (MacKay, 1997). For those who do not prefer mind maps another option would be using linear notes. Linear notes simply means leaving room
in the margin for the student to write down facts he/she feels important (MacKay, 1997). MacKay elaborates that teaching dyslexic students study skills proves
that thinking and reasoning skills can shine even though their basic skills may be a

Sandro Botticelli Research Paper
Sandro Botticelli (1445 1510)
BIOGRAPHY
Sandro Botticelli, short for Alessandro di Mariano Filipepi, was born on the 1st of March 1445 in The Republic of Florence which is now Italy. As a child he
was easily bored in school and was known for his hyperactivity and love of practical jokes. At about fourteen years of age, he was withdrawn from his school
and became an apprentice. He first worked for Maso Finiguerra as a goldsmith for 3 years but soon became an apprentice to the artist Fillipo Lippi at around
the age of 17. From Fillipo Lippi he learned to paint more intricately and with more detail.
He then worked with Antonio del Pollaiuolo, painting frescoes on Florentine cathedrals and churches. At around 22 years of age he had his own workshop and
was appointed to the confraternity of Florentine painters in 1472. He then employed Filipino Lippi, son of Fillipo Lippi as an apprentice. In 1481 it was
requested by the Pope that he come to Rome to decorate the walls of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, which had just been completed. He painted frescoes of
the life of Moses and the temptations of Christ. This was 30 years before Michaelangelo s famous ceiling frescoes. He was very highly regarded around this

The Critique Of Kenneth Branagh s The Hamlet
In 1996, British actor and director, Kenneth Branagh took on the production of the film The Hamlet. It is notable that Branagh took into consideration the play
s intricate detail as he built around the film. In his directing effort, he made both plausible and not so brilliant decisions too. It is commendable to a given
extent that Branagh maintained Shakespearean language throughout the film. However, he did away with a significant part of the play s ambiguous quality by
making plain, mindful decisions on aspects such as setting, characterization and others in the film. Branagh put it in the Napoleonic era rather than the Middle
Ages according to Shakespeare s original version. BRANAGH S DIRECTOR CONCEPT EMPLOYED STRATEGIES AIMED AT CREATING A BLOWN
UP DRAMATIC VISION OF HAMLET. Several cinematic basics, such as the film s melodic make, compliment Branagh s complex vision of the film and

Different Methods Of Qualitative Research
This essay will look at the qualitative approaches to research and look into more detail at the main traditions and theoretical approaches to qualitative research,
the main research methods associated with qualitative research; and the main criticisms that are frequently levelled at qualitative research.
There are many different definitions of qualitative research; one definition that defines it well is; a means for exploring and understanding the meaning
individuals or groups ascribe to a social or human problem. The process of research involves emerging questions and procedures, data typically collected in the
participant s setting. (Creswell, J. 2009)
There are many different methods of qualitative research and the approaches used include narrative, phenomenology, grounded theory, ethnography and case
study. The narrative approach retells a person s story across time; it explores what the story means and the lessons to be learnt from it. The goal of
phenomenological research is to describe participants experiences in a specific context and understand a phenomenon.
Grounded theory research looks at a process, an action or an interaction with the goal of developing a theory. The researcher attempts to derive a general,

The Extent to Which the Human Rights Act of 1998...
The Extent to Which the Human Rights Act of 1998 Strengthened the Rule of Law in the U.K. Constitution
The Human Rights Act 1998 (HRA), an Act introduced to give effect to rights from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) in domestic
legislation. Its introduction has affected many legal areas; especially the conceptions of the rule of law and their place in the UK constitution. To understand
the effect of the HRA, it is first necessary to establish the initial status of these two concepts. Having established this, the extent of the impact of the HRA can
be examined.
Rule of law and HRA
The concept of the rule of law has traditionally attracted two different interpretations.[1] In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It introduces obligations for public bodies that were not previously evident in common law or statute. As such this raises issue with the continuity or stability
of law.
Also of relevance are Dicey s views on the status of common law within the rule of law. He felt there was no need a Bill of Rights, because the general
principle of the constitution is the result of judicial decisions determining the rights of the private person.[5] Effectively what is being stated here is that the
common law is the guardian of the rights of the individual, as shown in the case of Derbyshire County Council v Times Newspapers Ltd.[6] Dealing with the
right to express criticism of publicly elected bodies, the Court of Appeal held that the questioning by a newspaper of the official dealings of the council was
legitimate criticism. Common law was the tool used to reach the conclusion, with it being decided that it was contrary to the public interest for public bodies to
have a common law right to sue for libel. Although, the Court of Appeal did take guidance from Article 10 of the ECHR, the right was upheld in the formal
tradition of the rule of law, based on judicial decisions. This is in contrast to the use of a codified document, in the style of the American Bill of Rights/
Constitution . It is argued that potentially the HRA may come to fulfil some of the roles taken by these documents in

Human Sexuality In Early Adulthood
In this paper, I will be writing a personal journal entry in response to the textbook, Human Sexuality in a World of Diversity (9th ed.) written by Spencer
Rathus, Jeffery Nevid, and Lois Fichner Rathus (2014). They write about genital play in children and that sexual curiosity can develop as early as one year. I
agree that children have a natural curiosity about body parts, what they do, and how they feel. I think it is appropriate for children to learn the correct body part
terminology and have self exploration. The textbook further discusses that around the age of two years old children can engage in genital play with other
children, which could include genital hugging, cuddling, and kissing. I do not think that it is appropriate for children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The negative factors against co sleeping are that the parent could suffocate their child and there could be adverse effects on sexual development. The positive
factors for co sleeping are easier for child to get back to sleep if awakened in the night, easier breastfeeding throughout the night, and possible better
intellectual development. Although the AAP discourages co sleeping, up to 20% of mothers are given information from physician on co sleeping (Rathus,
Nevid, Fichner Rathus, 2014, pp. 375 376). I think that in the American culture it is often expected and taught to new parents that a child should be left in the
crib to cry themselves to sleep. Children are raised to be able to sleep alone and independently, some even from the day of birth. I find it unnatural to have a
child sleep alone. The baby lives inside the womb for none months, which is a small space that provides consistent comfort. In my experience, after giving
birth, the baby desires that same close contact during the day and

The Importance of Education Essay
The Importance of Education
Education has always been a crucial part of society for the past centuries. Some believe that our education is a privilege. Some believe that our education is a
right. Some believe that our education is an obligation. The only obligation we might have towards education is to treat it as a privilege as well as a right, but
certainly not an obligation to have an education. Education has been the basis for the success we see in our parents, our teachers, and more importantly,
ourselves.
Over time, people have considered and concluded that education is a privilege. Education is a privilege because not many people can afford an education, and
we should be grateful that we have this opportunity that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is true because you cannot be denied an education based on your nationality, skin color, hair color, or any physical features, even being handicapped. It is
the right of the individual to seek an education, as long as the individual is fully capable financially and mentally. Let say ?Melissa,? a fictional fourteen year
old African American girl, wants to attend Hinsdale Central. A fairly good school, if I do say so myself, for a student to attend preceding college, as I have.
Let?s say Hinsdale Central refuses to let Melissa attend their school for various reasons, such as her skin color. It?s Melissa?s constitutional right to contest
this decision by the fact that the school denied her admittance based on her skin color, which is discrimination. However, the school does not have to admit
Melissa, even though she is completely qualified. The individual does not have the right to an education, but rather has the right to seek and education. The
individual can only have a right to an education if the school offering the education refuses them based on physical features.
What about obligations, is an education one of them? Education can be an obligation in a personal way, but education is certainly not an obligation to receive
in the general aspect. If a person feels obligated about their education, they are most likely not going to be motivated. Motivation comes from the parents, the
teachers, and the

Neuromuscular Junction Synapse
A synapse is the space located between the motor neuron and the skeletal muscle which is also referred to as a neuromuscular junction. The motor neurons that
originate from the spinal cord, help activate the skeletal muscle fibers. The innervation happens by the processes of the axon. The synapses are present along
with these processes and are also known as motor endplate. The neuromuscular junction synapse has three characteristics. It consists of two membranes called
the pre and post synaptic membranes and the space between the two membranes is known as the synaptic cleft. A high density of small spherical vesicles are
present and they contain neurotransmitter substances. A thickened post synaptic membranes is present and it contains a high

Newts Vs Female Dating Essay t may be time to crown male newts as the female arousing kings the amphibians release powerful pheromones that put females in the mood to mate with practically any adult around, even other females from different newt species, new research shows. The females react as if they re under the influence of drugs, said lead researcher Franky Bossuyt, a biologist at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Free University of Brussels) in Belgium. We were convinced that if we put in a plastic toy moving at the right speed, they would follow it. Newts typically live on land as adults and mate exclusively in water. During the breeding season, males adopt intense color patterns and grow skin extensions on their legs, tail and crest. These changes are thought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Newt mating game To find out, researchers placed male female pairs of alpine newts (Ichthyosaura alpestris) and palmate newts (Lissotriton helveticus) into water filled plastic containers for receptivity tests. The newts passed the test and were ready for the next phase if they completed the courtship ritual (females weren t allowed to complete the insemination). The team then put two female pairs into pheromone infused courtship water; some pairs consisted of two alpine newts, other pairs had one female of each species. If the water contained pheromones from a male of her species, the female would desperately try to court the other female. Gamesmanship is built on the principle that winning is everything. Athletes coaches are encouraged to bend the rules wherever possible in order to gain a competitive advantage over an opponent to pay less attention to the safety welfare of the competition. Some of the key tenants of gamesmanship are: 1. WINNING IS EVERYTHING. 2. It s only cheating if you get caught. 3. Guided by the way he was raised, those he had around him, and what he did for the art community, even as a young patron, de Medici changed the time period itself. The library today contains some of the most ancient or unique manuscripts from Greek antiquity, illustrating the appreciation de Medici had for classical antiquity from an early age. With these successes, de Medici did not stop his pursuit of enhancing spaces, and he because he wanted to identify and foster new talents in which he could invest money and energy, Lorenzo opened the sculpture garden in Piazza San Marco. The current process involves series of five different people, or groups of people. All of these trust/hostility issues are caused by a lack of communication among the entire organization. Communication is the root of many of the problems at this company. The machine that has been fixed already has not been picked up from Hewlett Packard because of the fact that SRL does not have the money to do so. So, SRL has a fixed machine that they cannot use because of the debt the company is undergoing. Another problem that is apparent at Salt River Labs is the inventory situation. Ever since SRL moved from their old building to the new building, the inventory has been left in the boxes they were transferred in. Nothing has been unloaded which is leading to the problem of not knowing exactly what is in house. This inventory issue affects Arthur s opinion on the chemists because he doesn t think that the chemists thoroughly search for the materials they need before ordering more. All of the problems listed above are causing late orders, and if orders are late or even non existent, then the company will eventually go out of business. • 7. The Cultural Value Model Of Japan And Japan The cultural value model that is being used in this outline is Hofstede s Model. Although Japan and America have quite a few economic and technologic similarities, they contrast in many ways. The biggest difference between these two countries is Individualism vs. Collectivism. Hofstede himself finds that both of these cultures differ significantly on most these diminesions (Shah). PART 1: Compare and Contrast Cultural Values Power Distance Power distance in cultures refers to the way that power is distributed between people. It can be measured by the extent of how individuals within that culture accept who has power and who doesn t. In places with a lower power distance, individuals act equal regardless of their formal positions. Japan places much more emphasis on power distance in their culture than America does. This is because it s a lot more hierarchical. While some individuals in America lack respect for those in higher positions, this is simply not tolerated in Japan. For example, direct eye contract when speaking to someone who has more authority is frowned upon in Japan. The differences in power distance between these two cultures was clear from the movie as every Japanese person knew their role and what was expected from them. The Americans working in the factory were more selfish and disrespectful towards management. Insubordination is not tolerated in Japan like it is in America. He discusses that the fiction filmmaker freely creates imaginative events , where the non fiction filmmaker portrays or makes explicit claims about actual historical events (104). He then puts forth the idea that imagination is also important for the non fiction filmmaker as he as the creator decides how to represent historical events (104). Pre 1970s people had more faith in the honesty of the government but after the Watergate scandal that trust diminished and in turn we became more scrutinizing more critical and demanding of our leaders. for example our scrutiny over the NSA and government surveillance was a prime example of how we are distrustful of our government and what they are doing. After we were told that we were being watched we criticized the NSA, some became paranoid that all of our texts are being spied on and that they are storing all our personal information. His choices were not fair. They triggered many problems between foreign countries who were the country s tax payers, causing the people of England s taxes to rise. Throughout a very long and winded process, the English barons became unhappier with the decisions King John had been making. This is why the Magna Carta was created. Another major clause in the Great Charter was that one person cannot be held responsible for a crime without a trial by jury of his/her friends. Also, a major clause of the document is that justice should not be sold or unnecessarily overdue. Throughout history, the Magna Carta was modified and sort of recreated . By the twentieth century, only three major clauses remained in the document. The first clause granted freedom to the Church of England. These churches are Christian Catholic with strong beliefs in their religious rights. Furthermore, they guarantee the customs and liberties of the English city of London. Lastly, they forbid uninformed arrest and the transaction of justice. Unlike most historical documents, whether declaring freedom from a king or any other form of government, the Magna Carta has no official copy. • 15. Michel Foucault s Theory Of Discipline And Punishment Michel Foucault states in Discipline and Punishment that the Panopticon is a marvelous machine which, whatever use one may wish to put it to, produces homogeneous effects of power (Foucault 188). Examining the evolution, physical characteristics, and psychological effects of the Panopticon allows one to understand the mechanism by which the Panopticon produces power. Most inventions develop through an evolutionary process while attempting to improve a situation or solve a problem. Often, a prototype precedes a new structure or mechanism. Foucault uses the term projects to describe two historical events and the social responses to resolve the problems associated with these events. He suggests that the Panopticon developed from these two projects, the quarantine of the plague and colonizing the lepers. Foucault describes how the Panopticon developed from a seventeenth century order issued to deal with the scourge of the plague. First, a strict spatial partitioning: the closing of the town and its outlying districts was mandated (Foucault 181). The town was further divided into quarters, streets, and households. A syndic who was in the charge of an intendant supervised each family in their residence. A considerable body of militia and guards at the gate ensured that the magistrate over the town had absolute authority (Foucault 181). Only the syndics, intendants, and guards moved about the streets (Foucault 181). They monitored and reported the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Honor Of Honor By Marcus Brutus There is something about honor that makes people ask themselves what honor really means. Honor could have many different interpretations. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, honor is specified as someone who is respected, has a good reputation, and who is genuinely a good person. With this denotation in mind, some people might suggest that honor has not changed over time because some people were looked upon as honorable in the middle ages. For example, Julius Caesar and Marcus Brutus were both perceived as honorable men throughout the play. However, this depends on someone s interpretation of honor because the Merriam Webster definition stated that honor is described as someone who is genuinely a good person. Towards the end of the play Marcus Brutus killed Julius Caesar. Therefore, he was no longer respected. Years ago society thought of honor differently. An honorable person was someone who was most likely a knight or a king. The knights went to battle for their masters. In American today, armies go into battle for their country and loved ones. Citizens today might characterize honor as a person or group who does something that is an honorable act. For instance, some might say that Superman is honorable, yet Iron Man is not. The number of reported sexually transmitted disease, also known as venereal disease, have greatly increased since the mid 1900s. There are roughly twenty five different types of sexually transmitted diseases in the United States that we encounter, such as HIV, AIDS, genital warts, chlamydia, herpes, gonorrhea, hepatitis, syphilis, vaginitis and trichomonas s. For this reason, all situations have to be classified by one s mental state, drug addiction, financial hardship or abuse.
