Cyrus Cylinder Compare And Contrast
The Cyrus Cylinder and Isaiah 44:24 45:7 show very similar plots but when looking at the details
of the story the differences are easily spotted. The main characters for instance show very different
traits about them, one is very powerful and compassionate while the other is
Omnipotent and Omniscient. The way they conquer their rightful cities are pretty different as
well, in one story for instance they are backed up by an army and in the other they just don t need
one. Also, who the glory goes to, to me at least, seems like the biggest difference of these two
stories. One more difference is the relationship between the two main characters in each of these
stories. They both although, similarly use Cyrus as an important character in their ... Show more

The Cyrus Cylinder shows the main character Marduk as compassionate and having good intentions
but also able to make mistakes, some human characteristics show in him in that sense. Marduk is
noticeably not the most powerful of the gods either. The other star of the story shows characteristics
like pride, confidence, and selfishness. On the other hand in Isaiah,
44:24 45:7, God is perfect and is all powerful, he says There is no God but Me (Isaiah 45:5).
God says Who says to the depths of the sea, Be dry, and I will dry up your rivers; who says to
Cyrus My shepherd, he will fulfill all My pleasure and says to Jerusalem, She will be rebuilt,
(Isaiah 44:27 28). Cyrus although is barely mentioned at all, a single time in Isaiah
44:28.
Cyrus and Marduk take over Babylon seemingly different than God and Cyrus does.
Cyrus and Marduk come into Babylon with a whole army of Guti people behind them. The Cyrus
Cylinder also says that they got into Babylon without any fighting or battle. God does not even
mention any army, He uses Isaiah 44:24 45:7 to show His great power, to point out that God is
greater than all

I Am Not Your Typical Stereotype Essay
Whichever sex we are, be it male or female, at the early stages of life we discover, or in other
cases are taught what is expected of us. Our cultural background will have some bearing on the
path we take to make it to adulthood. People with different sexual orientation, economic and
social status, just to name a few, are often stereotyped by others because of sketchy images they
have grown up with. Within this paper, I will present three everyday stereotypes I grew up
believing and now experience as an adult, then offer insight of how I took control of my life to
rise above the barriers to develop into the person I am today. As our parents nurtured us from
babies to teenagers, we learn how we are supposed to think and act to be... Show more content on

One of my friends came up to me and said, she not your date and I turned immediately all shades
of red. After that experience, I then knew that it was expected of me to like boys.
The schools did not teach what being gay meant, I just knew I felt different. I grew up in a
deeply religious family so liking girls was not an option. A television show that was on when I
was growing up was Three s Company; a man pretends to be gay so that he can live with two
women. This was the first reference of homosexuality on television (Ploshay, 2007). The way
television and the media portrays a character has a last affect on their viewers and readers.
My senior year of high school I lost weight, starting wearing contacts and played on the girls
basketball team. I started dating a guy who ran track and had a promising future ahead of him.
Our relationship became serious but I just did not have feelings for him like the ones my friends
talked about having with their boyfriends. I ended up marrying the guy before leaving for basic
training with the Air Force.
After joining the Air Force, I finally met my first official lesbian. She took me to a cook out

Wisdom In Plato s Apology
Ignorance isn t something that someone inherits from the moment they are born. Humans do not
enter the world with the wisdom to make the correct choices in life, but they do gain the ability to
acquire wisdom through teaching, learning and learning from their mistakes. This lack of wisdom,
this inherent ignorance is exactly why there has been a struggle since the beginning of man.
According to Plato, this is the best thing for human life is wisdom. Plato s Socratesindicates that
wisdom is the acknowledgement of ignorance. This statement may be hard to prove as true. In the
Apology, Socrates says that What is probable, gentlemen, is the fact that the god is wise and that
his oracular response meant that human wisdom is worth little or... Show more content on

Socrates look like he is overshadowing his own ignorance as some kind of wisdom . Socrates actual
quote indicates that he knew when others were ignorant, but merely thought they were
knowledgeable. He simply never made the mistakes of either by overestimating his extremely
limited knowledge of or really underestimating his actual knowledge. That made him a lifelong
learner and wiser than those who thought they knew what they did not know. This goes back to the
argument that Plato makes that taking a risk with your wisdom whether it s ignorant or not is
worth more than sitting there and basically looking stupid. In comparison of today s culture would
it make any sense the youth holds the majority of ignorance more than past generation I would bet
to say that Plato would agree with this statement. Most of the youth are preoccupied by social
media and electronic devices that they never have the time anymore to look up from their phone
and hold a full conversation. The toxic combination of government lacking public education,
extremely unprepared curriculum to unmotivated and unambitious student have produced a
generation of young people ignorant of the fundamental parts of life. They have been taught to feel
rather than think critically. It draws back to my point that when you think you know something that

A Method Of Preventing School Shootings
A method of preventing school shootings would be to acknowledge risk factors that the student
is facing. For example, bullying is a risk factor for school shootings. In a research study done in
2001 of 37 school shootings, it was reported that 75% of the school shooters felt bullied,
threatened, or injured by others in which most of the shooters in the report had experienced long
term bullying and harassment from their peers (Duplechain Morris, 2014). In addition, the
authors do state: School personnel too often accept that children get teased and bullied every day,
because teachers, parents, students, and other adults have grown up thinking that bullying is a
normal part of school life. It has easily become an accepted part of today s school culture (Ibid,
2014). The authors believe that schools view bullying as something that students should get used
to. This does show how bullying is an issue in schools. It is not solely to blame in regards to
school shootings, but is a risk factor for them. Relationships and past traumas are risk factors for
school shootings (Duplechain Morris, 2014). The author states in regards to relationships and
school shootings
The lack of attachment with their parents or caregivers at the beginning of their life to some of the
school shooters. Sueng Hui Cho, who was the shooter of the Virginia Tech Massacreon April 16,
2007 suffered from this kind of risk factor. Cho did not communicate with his parents or those

Difference Between Rap And Hip Hop
It should be of no surprise that the majority of rap music, new and old, includes lyrics that refer to
glorifying the use of illicit substances. Because rap and hip hop are the main types of music
listened to in the Black community, it should be noted that the music primarily affects this
demographic. The detrimental effects of the lyrics on the community can still be seen today. Rap
and hip hop have shaped the culture of the Black community significantly. The glorification of
different drugs in rap music across rap in the United States has significantly influenced the lifestyle
of the listeners. Rap and hip hop was originally created to foster creativity and artistic expression
in impoverished Black communities in New York. DJ Kool Hercwas the first individual to bring
rap to the forefront in New York. Rap was a way that young black individuals, especially men,
could come together in an inclusive and positive setting. Hip hop gave individuals a platform
and a safe space to express what was going on in their community. Rap is deeply rooted in the
Black community because of the historical context and importance it holds in the culture.
Unfortunately, the genre of rap and hip hop has evolved over time and the original meaning has
been demolished. Now the music is full of vulgar lyrics about sex, violence, and drugs. Sadly, the
adoration of drugs in the genre is a common source for all of the issues mentioned above.
One common theme that all rap music shares is the promotion

What Is Asian Americans Considered A Model Minority
Though Asians make up the largest portion of the world s population, Asian Americans are one of
the least represented minority groups within the United States. Out of an estimated 318 million
people living in the U.S., Asians account for 5.2%, or approximately 17 million people. Compared
to Hispanics at 54 million and African Americans at 42 million, Asians and/or Asian Americans are
vastly outnumbered by the two other major minority groups and even more so by the majority,
European Americans. Even though Asians are typically considered the model minority , they are
faced with the same issues that plague many other minority groups within the U.S. today to include
stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination and ethnocentrism. There has been a history of
discriminatory national policies directed at the immigration of Asians to the U.S. and in times of
duress, the labeling and targeted institutional discrimination of specific ethnicities of Asian
Americans as traitors based solely on country of origin and not on the deeds and actions of said
U.S. citizens (Japanese internment camps of World War II). The label Asian American represents
over 40 different subgroups, with each having their own customs, values, and languages. Very
rarely does one stop and think of the diversity that the label Asian American represents. It can
sometimes be easy to fall into the practice of believing that all Asian Americans are the same,
unless of course you deal with a variety of different ethnicities

Absolute Affluence In Peter Singer s Rich And Poor
In Rich and Poor, Peter Singer argues that the existence of absolute affluence, allows the suffering
and death of others who are in absolute poverty, and this is morally equivalent to murder. In this
paper I plan to argue that although absolute affluence is an issue that should be addressed through
spending money on luxury items such as technology, we are able to advance our education, which
can ultimately lead to bringing the affluent and the impoverished together to create a world where
povertydoes not have to exist at all.
Singer argues we are responsible for the consequences of our actions, which means that frivolous
spending on luxury items instead of using that money to benefit the people in absolute poverty has
the consequence of someone in absolute poverty suffering or dying. This results in the frivolous
spender being responsible for their death. Although the people in absolute affluence do not set out
with the intent to murder, or even have the malice behind it, they still are considered morally
responsible. The idea is the death could have been prevented with the monetary help from the
luxury spender. Instead the luxury spender ignored their suffering, and thus the consequence is the
luxury spender is in part to blame for their death. Singer brings up the argument against this belief.
The absolute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Disadvantages Of Pricing Strategy
Price strategy refers to the enterprise through the estimation of customer demand and cost analysis,
choose a can attract customers, to achieve the marketing mix of strategies.
A good pricing strategy can help you determine the price point that maximizes your profit when
you sell your product or service. Although the customer does not buy goods that are too
expensive, if the store s commodity price is too low to bear all the commercial costs, then it will
bring a loss.
Pricing strategy, a very critical component of the marketing mix. Price is usually an important
factor affecting the success of the transaction, but also the most difficult to determine the
marketing mix of factors. The goal of enterprise pricing is to promote sales and profit. This
requires enterprises to consider both the cost of compensation, but also to consider the ability of
consumers to accept the price, so that the pricing strategy has a bidirectional decision making

Affordable Housing For Low Income
Basic economics knowledge would tell you that this is a supply and demand issue and that all
we need to do is increase the supply and the prices will come down to an affordable equilibrium.
But on the other hand, basic economics will also tell you that there are no shortages unless there
is a price ceiling in place which creates a high demand and a low supply due to lower than
equilibrium prices. Which should mean that subsidization for low income families should help
alleviate the shortage for those groups or removing rent controlmeasures. The issue of Los Angeles
s shortages in affordable housing, at face value, then seems like a no brainer. Unfortunately, these
two economic solutions, like most economic solutions, cannot solve this... Show more content on

One way the legislators tried to remedy the problem of affordable housing was by setting a price
ceiling via rent control. According to a LA daily news article, the Rent Stabilization Ordinance
(RSO) was enacted in Los Angeles in 1978 and applies to properties built on or before 1978.
Shortly after its implementation, in 1981, the city paid the RAND Corporation to study the
impact of rent control on the housing market. In the long run, the findings warned, it may create
the very housing shortage it was designed to alleviate. And in many ways, they were rights. RSO
can create a reluctance on the part of owners to build new apartments out of fear that rent control
laws will be extended. It can also create a tendency of owners to defer repairs and renovations
because of the potential for limited return on their investments. RSO can also have a job killing
effect too, because if landlords aren t hiring as many carpenters, painters, electricians, plumbers,
roofers and landscapers the demand for those jobs also decreases. Rent control ordinances are
associated with lower growth rates in the supply of rental housing and with higher rental price
growth in the broader market. Research done by Beacon Economics found that rent control
decreased the supply of rental housing because investors might fear that new rental units will
eventually be covered under future rent control ordinances, given that there is already a policy in
place.

Memorial Hall
When walking through Boston s renowned Harvard Yard, one may scope out the mixture of
architecture throughout its landscape. From the traditional Memorial Hall influenced by
Romanesque churches, to the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts, Harvard Yard is like a salad
bowl of architecture. Perhaps because I am a lover of Victorian style structures, or maybe because
of its interior s beauty and richness, Memorial Hall intrigued my interest most of all.
Memorial Hall, which was originally a civil war monument, is now a theater and student union for

This window also allows a colorful light inside the memorial of the building. The interior of
Memorial Hall differs from the gothic structures that the building resembles from the outside. While
gothic structures were composed mostly of stone, Memorial Hall is decorated with walnut. The
vaulting, which traditionally would be made of stone, is made of wood. There is a repeated use of
the rosette, trefoil, quatrefoil, and cross motifs that help connect the exterior with the interior of the
building. These details are found in the wood carvings of Sanders Theater, the great transept doors,
the sandstone frieze that surrounds the exterior, the columns and wrought iron gates, the buttress,
the stained glass windows, and the chandeliers. Also there is ornamental ironwork that outlines the
roof if Sanders Theater and crowns the four subsidiary towers. Another feature of Memorial Hall
that captures the mood of its exterior is the layout of the remaining original furnishings throughout
the building. The materials used to construct the interior and exterior of Memorial Hall create a
defined space in which the building captivates.

Abstract: In this paper voltage stability is evaluated b v both dynamic P V curves and time domain
simulations, considering the combined dynamic control effects of a static compensator
(SZ4TCOh!) and transformer on load taps (OLT). The studied system is heavily loaded at hvo
locations and an 80 Mvar STA TCOM is connected to improve the voltage stability of entire
s~stem for a contingency of a three terminal line outage. The resu[ts presented in this paper: (a)
show that a STA TCOM can greatly improve the voltage stability of a heavily loaded system, (b)
quantl~ the combined impacts of SZ4TCOM and OLT control: (c) illustrate that the margin of
stability can be easily and effectively evaluated by P V curves; (d) correlate tirnedomain

How Benjamin Franklin Shaped American Culture
For his endless virtues in shaping the American aspect Benjamin Franklin could be considered as
the Father of the Country s persona. Benjamin Franklin can be considered one of the most
influential figures in the finding of the America nation. Franklin, the tenth son of fifteen children
born to a family of Boston artisans became a popular writer, world renowned scientist, successful
publisher, civil leader, diplomat, and a nation builder. Benjamin Franklinwas the epitome of the
Enlightenment, the adaptable, practical embodiment of rational humanity in the eighteenth century
(Loges, 23). Most people are not familiar or aware of Franklin s input to the literary world.
Franklin had unique views and provided his generation with a different viewpoint on political and
social events. Franklin poured his thoughts into his writings, which were important to everyday life
in everyday life during the colonial age; important to American norms; and affected the virtues of
the self made man.
Some of his widely known writings are his Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin and Poor

Organizations for People Fifty and Over Today
I believe that AARP is one of the leading organizations for people fifty and over today and known
worldwide. The initial process that brought this powerful group forward was the idea of
Dr.Ethyl Percy. Dr. Percy is an important figure for retired teachers in the 1940 s (International
Directory of Company Histories, 2009). Dr. Percy, is reflected as being the main female in
history that led a high school platform as principle (International Directory of Company
Histories, 2009). As retirement came forward, Dr. Percy had an interest in the well being of
colleagues that retired as she, and had little means to live on. With this in mind, Dr.Percy
initialized the National Retired Teachers Association beginning in 1947(International Directory
of Company Histories, 2009). This tremendous woman added a living structure for the retired
teachers and provided a nursing home, which she alone began. Dr. Percy joined forces with a
gentleman named Leonard Davis, in the event that health insurance was in need to help pay for
the facility. The Continental Casualty Company, which Mr. Davis was associated with, began
enrolling these retired teachers in need and opened up the first policy for them in
1956(International Directory of Company Histories, 2009). The proceeds were great as policies
distributed through the mail, and monetary proceeds began to add up very quickly. Dr. Percy
again paired up with Leonard Davis and invested excess proceeds gained from Leonard Davis and

Rabobank was able to fund these loans through the following:

This was the first time that Rabobank would venture into the Eurobond market. Note: Because of

also show how I diagnosed Johnny Cash with Major Depressive Disorder and how he can
possible get over it. I chose the method of family therapy and changing his behavior of be alone
and not having anyone to be around to having a family there to love and support you will change
his thought. My goal with this type of therapy is to show Johnny that he is loved and wanted.
Also that there is a way to be happy again and not depressed. The purpose of this case study is to

Indonesia s Human Development Strategies
In order to maintain a vibrant and fully functioning national economy, industrialized countries
across the globe strive to create a manufacturing infrastructure capable of producing quality products
for global export. From timber and cotton in the 19th century to mechanized goods and tools in
decades after, the United States has always positioned itself as one of the most productive nations
on the planet, building and shipping on a monumental scale to serve the ceaseless cycle of supply
and demand. This legacy of production has been fundamentally altered, however, as the 21st
century has dawned, with American corporations continuing the human resources trend of
outsourcing jobs to overseas markets as a component of their overall cost reduction strategy. While
traditional outsourcing destinations like China and India have captured much of the major media
attention domestically, the ascendency of Indonesia as a viable location for multinational
corporations cannot be ignored. When the cumulative data regarding Indonesia s rising rates of
literacy and educational attainment are considered in conjunction with national increases in life
expectancy and other indicators of overall health conditions (The World Bank, 2012), it becomes
strikingly clear that this country has positioned itself perfectly in terms of developing the human
capital which is so vitally necessary for expanding businesses. The wealth of empirical evidence on
the effectiveness of modern human resource

Beloved By Toni Morrison Literary Devices
There are always multiple interpretations of a text that depend on the reader s experiences. Words
work the same way yet, readers want to find the correct interpretation. Toni Morrison writes in
her foreword for Beloved that in order to render enslavement as a personal experience, language
must get out of the way (xix). The foreword sets up the reader to grapple with the fact that
Morrison wants them to view the text through more than one lens, lenses that may not come from
their personal experiences but still valid lenses, and to experience the text through these many
perspectives. Morrison comments on a reader s desire for a singular lens through Sethe, Paul D,
Baby Suggs and Denver s different meanings of the word tree. Based on her experiences the word
tree represents the past and death for Sethe. In Sethe s memory she remembered boys hanging from
the most beautiful sycamores in the world. It shamed her remembering the wonderful soughing
trees rather than the boys. Try as she might to make it otherwise, the sycamores beat out the

Confucianism was structured around respect for family and society. Confucianism was an
important belief, particularly for the scholar officials. Confucianism existed during a time of
warfare and chaos of China. Confucius s philosophy was created to bring back peace and stability.
He said that a wise ruler governed through honest examples, not force. Confucius lived around 551
B.C. to 479 B.C. Even after Confucius died, his followers kept spreading his thoughts and beliefs.
He educated people that they could get virtue through education. He taught a similar version of the
golden rule , to treat others like you would treat yourself. Confucius taught children that they should
always respect their parents.
Confucius believed that Junzi were rulers and that they would inspire others below them to live a
good life. Moral self cultivation was shown through the activities of the Junzi. Junzi means superior
person. Confucius thought of the Junzi as a good moral role model, rather than an individual of
noble birth. Junzi had to have many traits including: respectful to their parents, they were dedicated
to learning, worked for the good of the family, community, and society. They were guided by the
traditional rituals and social customs. Some scholars think that Confucius thought that women

What Are The Main Problems With The Article Of...
The Article of Confederation, created in 1781, was the original document that sets the structure of
the United States. Over several years, the document had proven to not be an effective way to
govern the country. Civil unrest and economic problems led the founding fathers to come together
in Philadelphia in May of 1787. They debated for four months on the terms of the new document.
It took another 10 months for the document to be ratified. The first main problem with the Article
of Confederation was that the central government had no power to enforce laws. Document 2
shows a boat sailing with waves and the waves represent the problems that the country
encountered due to the Article of Confederation. These problems included: no national court
system, no power to enforce treaties, mo power to collect taxes and no power to raise an army.

The Four Main Types Of Radiological And Nuclear Terrorism
Describe the four main types of radiological and nuclear terrorism (25 points). The four main
types of radiological and nuclear terrorism are Chemical, Biological, Radiological and nuclear
(CBRN) attacks. These types of attacks can have deadly consequences and significantly impact a
country if an attack is carried out. Not only can causality rates be high, but there can also be
significant economic consequences as well. Chemical attacks involve the use of chemical agents
that are man made gases, liquids, or powders that can have incapacitating or lethal effects on
humans. Most chemical weapons fall into five broad categories: blister, nerve, choking, blood, and
incapacitating (Forest Howard, 2013). Chemical agents will vary in their degree of potency and
volatility. Depending on how volatile or potent the agent is, the stronger the effects of agent will be
on humans. Biological weapon attacks involve the intentional release of a pathogen or bio toxin
against humans, animals, or plants (Forest Howard, 2013, pg. 113). Similar to chemical attacks,
biological attacks can cause, death, illness, and societal disruption. Additionally, these attacks can
cause widespread economic damage by poisoning agriculture crops and livestock. Biological attacks
can be carried out by dispersing the pathogen through aerosol mechanisms, food and water supplies,
and infected animals. A radiological attack is the intentional spreading of radioactive material with

The Rise Of Birth Control
In 1965, President Johnson said, Less than five dollars invested in population control is worth a
hundred dollars invested in economic growth (Bailey, 2013). The rise of contraception in the
United States was controversial and highly debated in court. But, once the movement got rolling, it
was hard to stop. When a Gallop Poll in 1936 asked if United States citizens favor the birth control
movement, 61 percent answered yes. This was a shocking discovery, because until that time
contraception seemed like a taboo topic. Today, the manufacturing and selling of birth control is
legal in all 50 states. Family planning services are now subsidized by federal and state governments
and nonprofit and private organizations (Goldin and Katz, 2000). This nationwide movement
enables women to choose when they start families. By allowing women to have the authority to
utilize contraception, positive trends have been seen in economic advancement, education
attainment and population trends.
The Rise of Birth Control The first oral contraception, Envoid, was introduced in 1957. Although
introduced, state laws prohibited physicians from prescribing the Pill and pharmacists from selling
it. Fifty years ago, two major shifts in the access to birth control occurred. In 1965, the trial
Griswold versus Connecticut ended restrictions on the sale of contraceptives. Secondly, federal
government boosted funding for family planning from 1964 to 1973, these changes are still making

America s Slippery Slope Analysis
America s Slippery Slope In The War On Terrorism
Terrorism is a word that strikes fear into many hearts, thus causing immediate panic to many.
Although, the word terrorism is doesn t have a definite meaning. People often give their own
opinion on terrorism. President Obama said, according to an article by Laura Beth Nielsen What Is
terrorism? , source Al Jazeera, Anytime bombs are used to target civilians, it is an act of
terrorism. . While so many people get caught up in who president Obama is, many people forget
that he is also a human. Just like any other human he has his own opinion and he also makes
mistakes. An opinion is a view or judgement formed about something. So this could mean Obama
is incorrect in his assumption on the definition of terrorism. Now, that is also my opinion, therefore
I could be wrong as well, but what how is anyone supposed to be correct when there is no
legitimate interpretation of the word terrorism.

The Comstock Era And The 19th Century
The Comstock Era was very important in the 19th century. It affected a lot of people good and

Tennie Claflin. However, some of these events still occur in current United States politics such as
free love. Whether or not it s better or worse free lovestill continues and is brought up during
protests or conferences. In this essay, I will explain the Comstock era and the role Woodhull and

feminismin the 21st century. The Comstock era was when the Comstock law was passed in 1873
and was part of a campaign for legislating public morality. The purpose of this law was to stop the
trade in obscenity literatures and immoral articles. It also was towards birth control usage,
abortion, and human sexuality. If you were caught using it or selling it you would be sentenced to
jail. Also, during this time the industrial revolution was making a large number of jobs available
to members of both sexes, and women were taking advantage of this opportunity by entering the
workforce in large numbers. Victoria and Tennie were extremely active in the politics of the

What Is The Mood Of The Nutcracker By Tchaikovsky
Many artists created and performed music during the period of Romanticism in Europe. Artists
during this period masterfully combined multiple musical components to create memorable pieces
that they delivered to the public through performances. The artists combined musical components
such as form, texture, tempo, melodic range, articulation, dynamic(s), and timbre to create an
enjoyable musical experience. By utilizing all of the different musical components, composers
created timeless pieces that attracted large crowds of commoners as well as noble and royal
families. Tchaikovsky was a musical composer that stood out from the rest of the musical
composers during the Romantic period. According to Biography, com, Tchaikovsky was born Pyotr

He was actually commissioned by a choreographer named Marius Petipa. According to Betsy
Schwarm in an article called The Nutcracker from the Encyclopædia Britannica, the Nutcracker
was inspired by and based off of a story called The Nutcracker and Mouse King , by E.T.A.
Hoffman. When Tchaikovsky started to compose the Nutcracker, he did so without much vigor.
Tchaikovsky believed that the Nutcracker was not a very good piece and he frequently compared
the quality with his earlier ballet called Sleeping Beauty. The Nutcracker was finished in the year
1892 and parts of the ballet were performed in December of the same year. The ballet turned out to
be a failure the first time it was performed. Many of the viewers did not like the idea of the ballet
and thought that the costumes were tasteless and plain. Though the viewers did not enjoy the
ballet, Tchaikovsky reported that they enjoyed the orchestral part of the ballet. Perhaps why the
viewers enjoyed the orchestral part of the ballet more than the choreographed part is because of the
musical components that Tchaikovsky combined to make the musicenjoyable for the listeners. The
Nutcracker is a ballet composed of two acts. The first act is called the Stahlbaum home and the
second at is called the Land of Sweets, each act with their own set of special ballet characters that
are supposed to preform. The acts also have their own synopsis as well as their own scripts.
Throughout the whole ballet the composer notably made use of tempo, texture, consonance,
dissonance, dynamics, articulation, form, and

Cloud Computing And The Protection Of Intellectual Property
Trust in Cloud Computing
Cloud computing has a duty to protect data privacy and some countries are going to great measures
to further ensure that their data is kept within their national borders (Trend Micro, 2013). It has
been suggested that new ethics frameworks are necessary in order to instill trust in the industry
based on known parameters that include
the use of critical equipment,
management of critical data,
respect for privacy,
security and longevity of information,
And the protection of intellectual property.
Worldwide, both the public and private sectors have grown in their distrust and discomfort in the
ability of companies to handle user data properly. Trust must be restored by defining a clear line
between legitimate security concerns and an individual s right to privacy. One way to ensure
privacy is by separating the application that is being used (cloud service) from the data it stores
and some providers are already employing this method.
Privacy concerns recently increased after a private company, inBloom secured over 600 New York
schools as a client for student data handling (Trend Micro, 2013). inBloom described its effort as a
plan to integrate a technology that could aggregate and store student information for educational
institutions and then release it to approved third parties that would then personalize tools and
dashboards specifically for classroom educators and those students (Herold, 2014). They became the

The Book Of Mark Is Not Written Down By Mark
This passage, unlike any other, is considered to be the start of Jesus path to the cross. In the
scripture, it tells of Jesus and his disciples going into the temple, after coming into the city. There
they find people trading and selling animals. Jesus reaction is unsettling to those who observed
and leave them marveled at his teaching. Jesus then questioned the temple about their intentions
of their hearts. He continued to ask, Is it not written, My house shall be called a house of prayer
for all the nations ? (Mark 11:17, NRSV). When the priests heard of what had happened, they
continued their search to find a way to kill him. After the uprising had settled, Jesus and his
disciples left the city. Although this may seem like a random act on Jesus part, the encounter in
the temple was so much more. The book of Mark was physically written down by Mark, but tells
of the memoirs from Peter. Mark was written around 60 CE. At the time of the passage, the
nation of Israel was suffering Gentiles. Because the audience was mostly Gentile, Mark had to
take the words of Peter and translate meanings in a way the Gentiles would understand.
Sadducees, one of the four sects of Judaism, were in charge and held the official positions of
Israel. This would stand, as long as they can keep peace among the city and control the riots and
uprights Jesus would eventually bring. Nero was ruler, a ruler very notorious for crucifying

October 3, 2017 Abstract
The techniques used in this lab are quantitative transfer and vacuum filtration with the reaction of
8.001 grams of copper (II) sulfate, CuSO4, and 2.0153 grams of iron powder, Fe. The goal of this
experiment was to determine the product of copper (II) sulfate with iron. The reaction occurred and
2.4469 grams of solid copper, Cu, precipitated; therefore, showing that the limiting reagent was
iron. The iron oxidation state was iron (II) because iron (II) sulfate was formed during the reaction.

The solid was washed over vacuum filtration with a 15.0mL DI water rinse. Then the solid was
washed again by four 15.0mL rinses of acetone. The copper was dried over the vacuum filtration
for exactly 10 minutes, so there was no excess water and the copper did not oxidize. Then the
mass of the crucible was taken again with the product included using the same analytic balance as
before, which came out to be 32.9490 grams. The amount of solid copper collected was 2.4469

Results
The empty sintered glass crucible had a mass of 30.5021 grams (table 1). Then the reaction

Rational Choice Theory Essay
There are three main points that are reinforced in rational choice theory (Cornish and Clarke,
1986). First, it may work better or worse for different types of crime, yet it is thought that there
are rational choices in every type of crime even impulsive and pathologic crimes. Second, the
theory should be applied on a crimespecific basis. Hence, burglaries can t be grouped together in
among residential and commercial categories. Rather, they must be broken into smaller facets such
as public housing burglaries or wealthy residential neighborhoods. Finally, a distinction is made
between criminal involvement and criminal events. Criminal involvement describes how
individuals get involved in crime and further continue or abstain from... Show more content on

The later occurs when a specific offender is deterred from crime through sanctions. Thus, the
benefits and drawbacks of crime have sway with both deterrence and rational choice theories, but
rational choice doesn t make headway for a population as a whole or limit the individual to those
previously punished.
The strengths of the rational choice theory are also seen when comparing it to the routine activity
theory, which proposes that three elements are needed for crime: motivated offenders, suitable
targets, and the absence of capable guardians (Cohen and Felson, 1979). Hence, environmental
conditions must be right for crime to occur. This relates to one similarity of the rational choice
theory, which is the account for situational variables such as the likelihood of punishment (Cornish
and Clarke, 1986). In contrast, routine activity theory doesn t look at why the individual commits
crime (Cohen and Felson, 1979). Instead, this propensity is assumed, while the rational choice
theory looks specifically at the reasons individuals commit offenses.
The broken windows theory reduces the cause of crime to the amount of disorder in a community
(Wilson and Kelling, 1982). Basically, if there are broken windows in buildings it can result in
allowing more vandalism, which leads more riff raff on the streets. This creates a fear for citizens
to go out in the neighborhood, which limits the visibility of proactive

The Cold Deep Sea
Cold water corals form reef structures in the cold deep sea are often defined as self sustaining
biogenic reef frameworks and can be found in any ocean around the world at different depths
(Roberts, 2005; Davies and Guinotte, 2011). Reefs are patchy distributed on the sea floor and
can develop forming impressive solid structures. These can fairly extend forming complex deep
sea habitats and shaping niches for many different marine species. These frameworks constitute
thus a very specific ecosystem, offering different types of habitats (Buhl Mortensen et al., 1995;
Freiwald et al., 2004; Buhl Mortensen et al., 2010) to different marine organisms. These reefs are
thus important hotspots of biodiversity (Roberts et al., 2006) and have a key role in the carbon
cycle in the deep sea (Roberts et al., 2006; Thiem et al., 2006).
In the North East Atlantic, Lophelia pertusa, a scleractinian cold water coral, is the dominating reef
forming species. Several symbiotic relations (among 1300 species; Roberts et al, 2006) have been
observed in different studies (Buhl Mortensen and Buhl Mortensen, 2004; Roberts, 2005) between
scleractinian cold water corals and different invertebrate organisms. However, the degree of these
relationships is still not enough defined and poorly understood (Buhl Mortensen and Buhl

My Experience With The National Civil War And Medicine...
Volunteer work is essential for every individual s life and future careers, it produces a path to

Even though I was only there for 20 hours, it was a taste of what I will be tackling in my

four projects. All of the project were different, the first was looking up collection software and

Funeral Blues.
In this poem, the writer uses regular verse and traditional pattern of rhythm and rhyme to give
impact to his unexpected imagery of the end of a relationship when he cuts himself off from the
rest of the his life because his grief is too much. To describe the incredible pain and isolation of
when someone you love leaves you and the way time seems insignificant, the writer starts the poem
by reiterating the title, creating emphasis by his use of assonance of the monosyllables: Stop all
the clocks. Unlike Valentine, this poem incorporates a series of metaphors to describe the writers
feelings instead of using one extended metaphor; he then continues to describe the suffering he
feels and the way everything that used to have a purpose stops... Show more content on

I think that Auden is pointing exactly (satirically) to how ridiculous that leap is.
Who or what is he writing about? Is it about a lover, male or female? This seems unlikely with the
nihilistic view of being blasted out of the universe in the final stanza. A really deep love leaves
something behind, even if you do not believe in an afterlife. If you gave your eulogy at a funeral,
could you really say that this is the end,in a sarcastic tome, and that there is nothing more, no
memories , no lasting legacies? Just nothing?
Funeral blues is a satirical piece which covers the theme of loss, the loss of his lover who was a
politician. Auden uses Over exaggeration and creating urgency in the line stop all the clocks,
cut off the telephone to show how ridiculous love can be viewed but it could be seen as a bitter
devastation for him. The cliche line i thought love would last forever is very poignant so presents
the torture one must go through when grieving to overcome. This is also depicted in the line He
was my north, my South, my East and West literally he was his everything and the idea of his loss
of direction clearly is emphasized to show the satirical view.
In the poem Funeral Blues, W.H. Audens choice of diction allows the reader a greater
understanding of the intensity and depth of feeling experienced upon the loss of a loved one.
Likewise, the symbolism used by the poet

Figurative Language In The Minister s Black Veil
Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Minister s Black Veil illustrates the dangers of secret sin. Allowing
guilt from things done in the past, things that cannot be changed, can ruin lives. The life of the
secret carrier will be devastated, along with the lives of that person s most loved ones.
Hawthorne uses various types of figurative language in his works to portray his message. The
Minister s Black Veil is no exception; Hawthorne uses symbolism and suggestion to add depth and
mystery. Hawthorne s parable, The Minister s Black Veil, uses symbols to illustrate the effect of
shame and guilt. In the story, Mr. Hooper represents the average Christian with a deep longing to
be holy, and have fellowship with man. However he allows the cross... Show more content on

But Mr. Hooper cannot even reveal his face to her because he fears society s condemnation
concerning his mistakes more than his love for her. His unwillingness to share his secret
wounds Elizabeth deeply, and causes her to break off their engagement. Nevertheless, Elizabeth
also represents faithfulness because she returns to him on his deathbed. What Mr. Hooper
perceives on the faces of the spectators is a shadow of his own veil. The darkness which
envelops his heart blinds him to the meaning of Christian love, even though it now attends him in
the person of Elizabeth, who [...] is a symbol of consecration to God. With a distrust of power of
redemptive love, human or divine, man virtually commits himself to the devil. (Stein 392). When
Hooper died, he was laid to rest in the veil. Since then, ...grass of many years has sprung up and
withered on that grave, the burial stone is moss grown... (par 59). The newly grown grass
represents people remembering his good qualities and mystery, but eventually his memory and even
his veil became yet another moss covered gravestone much like the ones he visited during his exile.
The element that adds the most mystery to this tale is suggestion. Hawthorne never explicitly tells
the reader what is happening; his skillful use of suggestion allows for multiple interpretations of the
story to exist, with no particular one being wrong. Foremost,

Thucydides Accounts of the Degradation of Athenian Honor
Thucydides account of the Peloponnesian war served as a window into Athenian societal culture.
Carrying the reader from Pericles moving speech to the assembly, through Cleon and Diodotus
oratory battle over the fate of Mytilene, and finally to the Athenian proposal to the Melians,
Thucydides detailed the transformation of Athens from a state based on justice and freedom to a
empire with a corrupted soul. This corruption did not occur over night, but was the result of
increasing tyrannical behavior by the part of Athens in its interactions with other Greek city states.
The stages of this development can be analyzed into three parts: Pericleswar speech, the dialogue
on Mytilene, and the Melian debate. Pericles speech was propagated by the horn of war against the
Lacedaemonians. In the midst of the conflict, the Athenians called an assembly to determine their
course of action. Their choices were to either agree to Spartas demands, which included
dismantling the siege of Potidaea, freeing Aegina from their rule, and cancelling their embargo of
Megara, or war. At this juncture, the prime Athenian statesman, Pericles, presented his advice:
never give in. For Pericles, Athens can never subjugate itself to any power and must fight for its
autonomy. In order to win the war, Athens must focus on its people and avoid mistakes. They
cannot base their campaign on saving their property, but keeping the integrity of their forces. This
stance is exemplified as Pericles said,

The Caribbean has had celebrated economists who, in their works, always sought to define the
Caribbean experience and produce solutions to the region s problems. Their achievements arose
out of a need for a Third World economic story that was separate from that developed in more
advanced nations. Economics, however, has been regarded as a dismal science (Carlyle 1849) and
some have questioned if it is a science at all. For this essay, we assume that economics is a science

for this paper therefore considers both the publications based on the Caribbean from the 1960s and

Dunbar in another article (undated) included expertise as part of the scientific thinking. Ayalon and
Even (2008) notes association and plausible inference as other processes. Further reading, though,
indicates that the processes mentioned may not be clear cut in their use, that is, one process may
be a part of another process. Most of the methods mentioned by Dunbar and Klahr (2012) will be
discussed but with considerations of other authors.
Dunbar (undated) highlighted three aspects scientific thinking, one of which is hypothesis testing.
In hypothesis testing logic is applied to a set of statements. These statements or propositions are a
combination of premises and conclusions. The premises and their conclusions are evaluated for
their truthfulness or justifiability of explanation. How these propositions are examined is referred
to as reasoning strategies. There are three strategies in hypothesis testing: induction, deduction and
abduction. These three processes also referred to as Peirce s Inferential Triad, can be used under
other reasoning processes such as causal reasoning. In addition, hypothesis testing may be on an
individual level or collaboratively (note that collaborative reasoning is mentioned as a reasoning
process by Dunbar and Klahr (2012)).

Humans do not enter the world with the wisdom to make the correct choices in life, but they do gain the ability to acquire wisdom through teaching, learning and learning from their mistakes. A Method OfPreventing School Shootings A method of preventing school shootings would be to acknowledge risk factors that the student is facing. For example, bullying is a risk factor for school shootings. In a research study done in 2001 of 37 school shootings, it was reported that 75% of the school shooters felt bullied, threatened, or injured by others in which most of the shooters in the report had experienced long term bullying and harassment from their peers (Duplechain Morris, 2014). In addition, the authors do state: School personnel too often accept that children get teased and bullied every day, because teachers, parents, students, and other adults have grown up thinking that bullying is a normal part of school life. It has easily become an accepted part of today s school culture (Ibid, 2014). The authors believe that schools view bullying as something that students should get used to. This does show how bullying is an issue in schools. It is not solely to blame in regards to school shootings, but is a risk factor for them. Relationships and past traumas are risk factors for school shootings (Duplechain Morris, 2014). The author states in regards to relationships and school shootings The lack of attachment with their parents or caregivers at the beginning of their life to some of the school shooters. Difference Between RapAnd Hip Hop It should be of no surprise that the majority of rap music, new and old, includes lyrics that refer to glorifying the use of illicit substances. Because rap and hip hop are the main types of music listened to in the Black community, it should be noted that the music primarily affects this demographic. The detrimental effects of the lyrics on the community can still be seen today. Rap and hip hop have shaped the culture of the Black community significantly. The glorification of different drugs in rap music across rap in the United States has significantly influenced the lifestyle of the listeners. Rap and hip hop was originally created to foster creativity and artistic expression in impoverished Black communities in New York. DJ Kool Hercwas the first individual to bring rap to the forefront in New York. Rap was a way that young black individuals, especially men, could come together in an inclusive and positive setting. Hip hop gave individuals a platform and a safe space to express what was going on in their community. Rap is deeply rooted in the Black community because of the historical context and importance it holds in the culture. Unfortunately, the genre of rap and hip hop has evolved over time and the original meaning has been demolished. Now the music is full of vulgar lyrics about sex, violence, and drugs. Sadly, the adoration of drugs in the genre is a common source for all of the issues mentioned above. One common theme that all rap music shares is the promotion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is AsianAmericans Considered A Model Minority Though Asians make up the largest portion of the world s population, Asian Americans are one of the least represented minority groups within the United States. There has been a history of discriminatory national policies directed at the immigration of Asians to the U.S. and in times of duress, the labeling and targeted institutional discrimination of specific ethnicities of Asian Americans as traitors based solely on country of origin and not on the deeds and actions of said U.S. citizens (Japanese internment camps of World War II). Absolute Affluence InPeter Singer s Rich And Poor In Rich and Poor, Peter Singer argues that the existence of absolute affluence, allows the suffering and death of others who are in absolute poverty, and this is morally equivalent to murder. In this paper I plan to argue that although absolute affluence is an issue that should be addressed through spending money on luxury items such as technology, we are able to advance our education, which can ultimately lead to bringing the affluent and the impoverished together to create a world where povertydoes not have to exist at all. Singer argues we are responsible for the consequences of our actions, which means that frivolous spending on luxury items instead of using that money to benefit the people in absolute poverty has the consequence of someone in absolute poverty suffering or dying. This results in the frivolous spender being responsible for their death. Although the people in absolute affluence do not set out with the intent to murder, or even have the malice behind it, they still are considered morally responsible. Affordable Housing ForLow Income Basic economics knowledge would tell you that this is a supply and demand issue and that all we need to do is increase the supply and the prices will come down to an affordable equilibrium. The issue of Los Angeles s shortages in affordable housing, at face value, then seems like a no brainer. Unfortunately, these two economic solutions, like most economic solutions, cannot solve this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One way the legislators tried to remedy the problem of affordable housing was by setting a price ceiling via rent control. According to a LA daily news article, the Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO) was enacted in Los Angeles in 1978 and applies to properties built on or before 1978. Shortly after its implementation, in 1981, the city paid the RAND Corporation to study the impact of rent control on the housing market. In the long run, the findings warned, it may create the very housing shortage it was designed to alleviate. And in many ways, they were rights. RSO can create a reluctance on the part of owners to build new apartments out of fear that rent control laws will be extended. It can also create a tendency of owners to defer repairs and renovations because of the potential for limited return on their investments. RSO can also have a job killing effect too, because if landlords aren t hiring as many carpenters, painters, electricians, plumbers, roofers and landscapers the demand for those jobs also decreases. Rent control ordinances are associated with lower growth rates in the supply of rental housing and with higher rental price growth in the broader market. Research done by Beacon Economics found that rent control decreased the supply of rental housing because investors might fear that new rental units will eventually be covered under future rent control ordinances, given that there is already a policy in place. Memorial Hall Essay MemorialHall When walking through Boston s renowned Harvard Yard, one may scope out the mixture of architecture throughout its landscape. From the traditional Memorial Hall influenced by Romanesque churches, to the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts, Harvard Yard is like a salad bowl of architecture. Perhaps because I am a lover of Victorian style structures, or maybe because of its interior s beauty and richness, Memorial Hall intrigued my interest most of all. Memorial Hall, which was originally a civil war monument, is now a theater and student union for Harvard University. The 19th century architects Robert Ware and Henry Van Brunt designed this building to resemble the Victorian Gothic Romanesque churches of the time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This window also allows a colorful light inside the memorial of the building. The interior of Memorial Hall differs from the gothic structures that the building resembles from the outside. While gothic structures were composed mostly of stone, Memorial Hall is decorated with walnut. The vaulting, which traditionally would be made of stone, is made of wood. There is a repeated use of the rosette, trefoil, quatrefoil, and cross motifs that help connect the exterior with the interior of the building. These details are found in the wood carvings of Sanders Theater, the great transept doors, the sandstone frieze that surrounds the exterior, the columns and wrought iron gates, the buttress, the stained glass windows, and the chandeliers. Also there is ornamental ironwork that outlines the roof if Sanders Theater and crowns the four subsidiary towers. Another feature of Memorial Hall that captures the mood of its exterior is the layout of the remaining original furnishings throughout the building. The materials used to construct the interior and exterior of Memorial Hall create a defined space in which the building captivates. When I walked through Memorial Hall I became instantly drawn into the structure. The marble floors, the dark wood moldings, and the gold, maroon, and green d #233;cor are qualities ... Study Of AStatcom Application For Voltage Stability... Study of a STATCOM Application for Voltage Stability Evaluated S.Rajasekqar, Assoc Professor HOD, NIST, Nagole, Hyderabad Abstract: In this paper voltage stability is evaluated b v both dynamic P V curves and time domain simulations, considering the combined dynamic control effects of a static compensator (SZ4TCOh!) and transformer on load taps (OLT). The studied system is heavily loaded at hvo locations and an 80 Mvar STA TCOM is connected to improve the voltage stability of entire s~stem for a contingency of a three terminal line outage. The resu[ts presented in this paper: (a) show that a STA TCOM can greatly improve the voltage stability of a heavily loaded system, (b) quantl~ the combined impacts of SZ4TCOM and OLT control: (c) illustrate that the margin of stability can be easily and effectively evaluated by P V curves; (d) correlate tirnedomain simulations and P V curves for a system with a STATCOM and OLT dynamic control. Organizations for PeopleFifty and Over Today I believe that AARP is one of the leading organizations for people fifty and over today and known worldwide. The initial process that brought this powerful group forward was the idea of Dr.Ethyl Percy. Dr. Percy is an important figure for retired teachers in the 1940 s (International Directory of Company Histories, 2009). Dr. Percy, is reflected as being the main female in history that led a high school platform as principle (International Directory of Company Histories, 2009). As retirement came forward, Dr. Percy had an interest in the well being of colleagues that retired as she, and had little means to live on. With this in mind, Dr.Percy initialized the National Retired Teachers Association beginning in 1947(International Directory of Company Histories, 2009). This tremendous woman added a living structure for the retired teachers and provided a nursing home, which she alone began. Dr. Percy joined forces with a gentleman named Leonard Davis, in the event that health insurance was in need to help pay for the facility. The Continental Casualty Company, which Mr. Davis was associated with, began enrolling these retired teachers in need and opened up the first policy for them in 1956(International Directory of Company Histories, 2009). The proceeds were great as policies distributed through the mail, and monetary proceeds began to add up very quickly. Dr. Percy again paired up with Leonard Davis and invested excess proceeds gained from Leonard Davis and hence, AARPwas a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since Rabobank conducted only small amount of dollar based business, and most of the dollar denominated assets were loans whose rates floated with LIBOR. Historically, Rabobank was able to fund these loans through the following: В· Interbank deposits at LIBOR. В· Prime Eurodollar CD?s. This was the first time that Rabobank would venture into the Eurobond market. Note: Because of Rabobank?s AAA rating it would be able to borrow in the Eurodollar market at very competitive rates. Morgan Guaranty Bank: Morgan acted as an intermediary guarantor between the Goodrich, and Rabobank to implement the swap. Morgan was merely agreeing to act as a conduit assuming no default payments. Indonesia s HumanDevelopment Strategies In order to maintain a vibrant and fully functioning national economy, industrialized countries across the globe strive to create a manufacturing infrastructure capable of producing quality products for global export. From timber and cotton in the 19th century to mechanized goods and tools in decades after, the United States has always positioned itself as one of the most productive nations on the planet, building and shipping on a monumental scale to serve the ceaseless cycle of supply and demand. This legacy of production has been fundamentally altered, however, as the 21st century has dawned, with American corporations continuing the human resources trend of outsourcing jobs to overseas markets as a component of their overall cost reduction strategy. While traditional outsourcing destinations like China and India have captured much of the major media attention domestically, the ascendency of Indonesia as a viable location for multinational corporations cannot be ignored. When the cumulative data regarding Indonesia s rising rates of literacy and educational attainment are considered in conjunction with national increases in life expectancy and other indicators of overall health conditions (The World Bank, 2012), it becomes strikingly clear that this country has positioned itself perfectly in terms of developing the human capital which is so vitally necessary for expanding businesses. Beloved By ToniMorrison Literary Devices There are always multiple interpretations of a text that depend on the reader s experiences. Words work the same way yet, readers want to find the correct interpretation. Toni Morrison writes in her foreword for Beloved that in order to render enslavement as a personal experience, language must get out of the way (xix). The foreword sets up the reader to grapple with the fact that Morrison wants them to view the text through more than one lens, lenses that may not come from their personal experiences but still valid lenses, and to experience the text through these many perspectives. Morrison comments on a reader s desire for a singular lens through Sethe, Paul D, Baby Suggs and Denver s different meanings of the word tree. Based on her experiences the word tree represents the past and death for Sethe. In Sethe s memory she remembered boys hanging from the most beautiful sycamores in the world. The Four MainTypes Of Radiological And Nuclear Terrorism Describe the four main types of radiological and nuclear terrorism (25 points). The four main types of radiological and nuclear terrorism are Chemical, Biological, Radiological and nuclear (CBRN) attacks. These types of attacks can have deadly consequences and significantly impact a country if an attack is carried out. Not only can causality rates be high, but there can also be significant economic consequences as well. Chemical attacks involve the use of chemical agents that are man made gases, liquids, or powders that can have incapacitating or lethal effects on humans. Most chemical weapons fall into five broad categories: blister, nerve, choking, blood, and incapacitating (Forest Howard, 2013). Chemical agents will vary in their degree of potency and volatility. Depending on how volatile or potent the agent is, the stronger the effects of agent will be on humans. Biological weapon attacks involve the intentional release of a pathogen or bio toxin against humans, animals, or plants (Forest Howard, 2013, pg. 113). Similar to chemical attacks, biological attacks can cause, death, illness, and societal disruption. Additionally, these attacks can cause widespread economic damage by poisoning agriculture crops and livestock. Biological attacks can be carried out by dispersing the pathogen through aerosol mechanisms, food and water supplies, and infected animals. The Rise OfBirth Control In 1965, President Johnson said, Less than five dollars invested in population control is worth a hundred dollars invested in economic growth (Bailey, 2013). The rise of contraception in the United States was controversial and highly debated in court. But, once the movement got rolling, it was hard to stop. When a Gallop Poll in 1936 asked if United States citizens favor the birth control movement, 61 percent answered yes. This was a shocking discovery, because until that time contraception seemed like a taboo topic. Today, the manufacturing and selling of birth control is legal in all 50 states. Family planning services are now subsidized by federal and state governments and nonprofit and private organizations (Goldin and Katz, 2000). This nationwide movement enables women to choose when they start families. By allowing women to have the authority to utilize contraception, positive trends have been seen in economic advancement, education attainment and population trends. The Rise of Birth Control The first oral contraception, Envoid, was introduced in 1957. Although introduced, state laws prohibited physicians from prescribing the Pill and pharmacists from selling it. Fifty years ago, two major shifts in the access to birth control occurred. In 1965, the trial Griswold versus Connecticut ended restrictions on the sale of contraceptives. Secondly, federal government boosted funding for family planning from 1964 to 1973, these changes are still making a positive impact ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By utilizing all of the different musical components, composers created timeless pieces that attracted large crowds of commoners as well as noble and royal families. Tchaikovsky was a musical composer that stood out from the rest of the musical composers during the Romantic period. According to Biography, com, Tchaikovsky was born Pyotr Iiyich... According to Betsy Schwarm in an article called The Nutcracker from the Encyclopædia Britannica, the Nutcracker was inspired by and based off of a story called The Nutcracker and Mouse King , by E.T.A. Hoffman. When Tchaikovsky started to compose the Nutcracker, he did so without much vigor. Tchaikovsky believed that the Nutcracker was not a very good piece and he frequently compared the quality with his earlier ballet called Sleeping Beauty. The Nutcracker was finished in the year 1892 and parts of the ballet were performed in December of the same year. The ballet turned out to be a failure the first time it was performed. Many of the viewers did not like the idea of the ballet and thought that the costumes were tasteless and plain. Though the viewers did not enjoy the ballet, Tchaikovsky reported that they enjoyed the orchestral part of the ballet. Perhaps why the viewers enjoyed the orchestral part of the ballet more than the choreographed part is because of the musical components that Tchaikovsky combined to make the musicenjoyable for the listeners. The Nutcracker is a ballet composed of two acts. The first act is called the Stahlbaum home and the second at is called the Land of Sweets, each act with their own set of special ballet characters that are supposed to preform. The acts also have their own synopsis as well as their own scripts. Her monologue highlights her urge to drop out of high school, the conflict she has with her mother, and her compromised future. Though she was pursuing a university study in the Philippines, her educationambitions shrank in Canada. Cloud Computing AndThe Protection Of Intellectual Property Trust in Cloud Computing Cloud computing has a duty to protect data privacy and some countries are going to great measures to further ensure that their data is kept within their national borders (Trend Micro, 2013). It has been suggested that new ethics frameworks are necessary in order to instill trust in the industry based on known parameters that include the use of critical equipment, management of critical data, respect for privacy, security and longevity of information, And the protection of intellectual property. Worldwide, both the public and private sectors have grown in their distrust and discomfort in the ability of companies to handle user data properly. Trust must be restored by defining a clear line between legitimate security concerns and an individual s right to privacy. One way to ensure privacy is by separating the application that is being used (cloud service) from the data it stores and some providers are already employing this method. Privacy concerns recently increased after a private company, inBloom secured over 600 New York schools as a client for student data handling (Trend Micro, 2013). inBloom described its effort as a plan to integrate a technology that could aggregate and store student information for educational institutions and then release it to approved third parties that would then personalize tools and dashboards specifically for classroom educators and those students (Herold, 2014). The Book OfMark Is Not Written Down By Mark This passage, unlike any other, is considered to be the start of Jesus path to the cross. In the scripture, it tells of Jesus and his disciples going into the temple, after coming into the city. There they find people trading and selling animals. Jesus reaction is unsettling to those who observed and leave them marveled at his teaching. Jesus then questioned the temple about their intentions of their hearts. He continued to ask, Is it not written, My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations ? (Mark 11:17, NRSV). When the priests heard of what had happened, they continued their search to find a way to kill him. After the uprising had settled, Jesus and his disciples left the city. Although this may seem like a random act on Jesus part, the encounter in the temple was so much more. The book of Mark was physically written down by Mark, but tells of the memoirs from Peter. Mark was written around 60 CE. At the time of the passage, the nation of Israel was suffering Gentiles. Because the audience was mostly Gentile, Mark had to take the words of Peter and translate meanings in a way the Gentiles would understand. Sadducees, one of the four sects of Judaism, were in charge and held the official positions of Israel. This would stand, as long as they can keep peace among the city and control the riots and uprights Jesus would eventually bring. Nero was ruler, a ruler very notorious for crucifying christians. Lab Report OnIron Stoichiometry Copper/Iron Stoichiometry Grace Timler AB1 October 3, 2017 Abstract The techniques used in this lab are quantitative transfer and vacuum filtration with the reaction of 8.001 grams of copper (II) sulfate, CuSO4, and 2.0153 grams of iron powder, Fe. The goal of this experiment was to determine the product of copper (II) sulfate with iron. The reaction occurred and 2.4469 grams of solid copper, Cu, precipitated; therefore, showing that the limiting reagent was iron. The iron oxidation state was iron (II) because iron (II) sulfate was formed during the reaction. The percent yield of the reaction was 106.7%. The copper was dried over the vacuum filtration for exactly 10 minutes, so there was no excess water and the copper did not oxidize. Then the mass of the crucible was taken again with the product included using the same analytic balance as before, which came out to be 32.9490 grams. The amount of solid copper collected was 2.4469 grams, calculated by subtracting the initial weight of the crucible from the final weight. Rational Choice TheoryEssay There are three main points that are reinforced in rational choice theory (Cornish and Clarke, 1986). First, it may work better or worse for different types of crime, yet it is thought that there are rational choices in every type of crime even impulsive and pathologic crimes. Second, the theory should be applied on a crimespecific basis. Hence, burglaries can t be grouped together in among residential and commercial categories. Rather, they must be broken into smaller facets such as public housing burglaries or wealthy residential neighborhoods. Finally, a distinction is made between criminal involvement and criminal events. Criminal involvement describes how individuals get involved in crime and further continue or abstain from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The later occurs when a specific offender is deterred from crime through sanctions. Thus, the benefits and drawbacks of crime have sway with both deterrence and rational choice theories, but rational choice doesn t make headway for a population as a whole or limit the individual to those previously punished. The strengths of the rational choice theory are also seen when comparing it to the routine activity theory, which proposes that three elements are needed for crime: motivated offenders, suitable targets, and the absence of capable guardians (Cohen and Felson, 1979). Hence, environmental conditions must be right for crime to occur. This relates to one similarity of the rational choice theory, which is the account for situational variables such as the likelihood of punishment (Cornish and Clarke, 1986). In contrast, routine activity theory doesn t look at why the individual commits crime (Cohen and Felson, 1979). Instead, this propensity is assumed, while the rational choice theory looks specifically at the reasons individuals commit offenses. The broken windows theory reduces the cause of crime to the amount of disorder in a community (Wilson and Kelling, 1982). Basically, if there are broken windows in buildings it can result in allowing more vandalism, which leads more riff raff on the streets. The Cold DeepSea Cold water corals form reef structures in the cold deep sea are often defined as self sustaining biogenic reef frameworks and can be found in any ocean around the world at different depths (Roberts, 2005; Davies and Guinotte, 2011). Reefs are patchy distributed on the sea floor and can develop forming impressive solid structures. These can fairly extend forming complex deep sea habitats and shaping niches for many different marine species. These frameworks constitute thus a very specific ecosystem, offering different types of habitats (Buhl Mortensen et al., 1995; Freiwald et al., 2004; Buhl Mortensen et al., 2010) to different marine organisms. These reefs are thus important hotspots of biodiversity (Roberts et al., 2006) and have a key role in the carbon cycle in the deep sea (Roberts et al., 2006; Thiem et al., 2006). In the North East Atlantic, Lophelia pertusa, a scleractinian cold water coral, is the dominating reef forming species. Several symbiotic relations (among 1300 species; Roberts et al, 2006) have been observed in different studies (Buhl Mortensen and Buhl Mortensen, 2004; Roberts, 2005) between scleractinian cold water corals and different invertebrate organisms. However, the degree of these relationships is still not enough defined and poorly understood (Buhl Mortensen and Buhl Mortensen, 2004; Roberts et al., 2009). Volunteer work is essential for every individual s life and future careers, it produces a path to connections in the work force, and promotes on the job learning. My practicum work pairing with the National Civil War and Medicine Museums was an amazing, educational 20 hours. Even though I was only there for 20 hours, it was a taste of what I will be tackling in my internship next semester there. I volunteered for four days, and over those days I had a total of four projects. All of the project were different, the first was looking up collection software and plugins, then I took inventory on a case, then I recorded notes on a surgeon s diary, and finally I described each medicinein a pannier box. All of the people I worked with were immensely friendly and insightful, whenever I had questions they were content to help answer them. The overall experiencewas tremendously insightful, however, there was a few bumps in the road here and there. This practicum was a great experience that makes me eager for my internship in January. My first day at the National Civil Warand Medicine museum was October 14th, it was an awfully dull experience and not what I was expecting. I strolled in as soon the museum opened, I was met by Joanna Jennings, she explained to me that more than half of the staff came down with a bug because of a conference they held earlier in the week. Funeral Blues. In thispoem, the writer uses regular verse and traditional pattern of rhythm and rhyme to give impact to his unexpected imagery of the end of a relationship when he cuts himself off from the rest of the his life because his grief is too much. To describe the incredible pain and isolation of when someone you love leaves you and the way time seems insignificant, the writer starts the poem by reiterating the title, creating emphasis by his use of assonance of the monosyllables: Stop all the clocks. Unlike Valentine, this poem incorporates a series of metaphors to describe the writers feelings instead of using one extended metaphor; he then continues to describe the suffering he feels and the way everything that used to have a purpose stops... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think that Auden is pointing exactly (satirically) to how ridiculous that leap is. Who or what is he writing about? Is it about a lover, male or female? This seems unlikely with the nihilistic view of being blasted out of the universe in the final stanza. A really deep love leaves something behind, even if you do not believe in an afterlife. If you gave your eulogy at a funeral, could you really say that this is the end,in a sarcastic tome, and that there is nothing more, no memories , no lasting legacies? Just nothing? Funeral blues is a satirical piece which covers the theme of loss, the loss of his lover who was a politician. Auden uses Over exaggeration and creating urgency in the line stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone to show how ridiculous love can be viewed but it could be seen as a bitter devastation for him. The cliche line i thought love would last forever is very poignant so presents the torture one must go through when grieving to overcome. This is also depicted in the line He was my north, my South, my East and West literally he was his everything and the idea of his loss of direction clearly is emphasized to show the satirical view. Figurative Language InThe Minister s Black Veil Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Minister s Black Veil illustrates the dangers of secret sin. Allowing guilt from things done in the past, things that cannot be changed, can ruin lives. The life of the secret carrier will be devastated, along with the lives of that person s most loved ones. Hawthorne uses various types of figurative language in his works to portray his message. The Minister s Black Veil is no exception; Hawthorne uses symbolism and suggestion to add depth and mystery. Thucydides Accounts ofthe Degradation of Athenian Honor Thucydides account of the Peloponnesian war served as a window into Athenian societal culture. Carrying the reader from Pericles moving speech to the assembly, through Cleon and Diodotus oratory battle over the fate of Mytilene, and finally to the Athenian proposal to the Melians, Thucydides detailed the transformation of Athens from a state based on justice and freedom to a empire with a corrupted soul. This corruption did not occur over night, but was the result of increasing tyrannical behavior by the part of Athens in its interactions with other Greek city states. The stages of this development can be analyzed into three parts: Pericleswar speech, the dialogue on Mytilene, and the Melian debate. Pericles speech was propagated by the horn of war against the Lacedaemonians. In the midst of the conflict, the Athenians called an assembly to determine their course of action. Their choices were to either agree to Spartas demands, which included dismantling the siege of Potidaea, freeing Aegina from their rule, and cancelling their embargo of Megara, or war. At this juncture, the prime Athenian statesman, Pericles, presented his advice: never give in. For Pericles, Athens can never subjugate itself to any power and must fight for its autonomy. In order to win the war, Athens must focus on its people and avoid mistakes. They cannot base their campaign on saving their property, but keeping the integrity of their forces.
