1) What Cellphone Enhances?
Communication: It made accessibility of information, communicating and
networking with other people easy.
Travel: Going one where to another that even you don’t go before is not hard to do
it now. We can travel entire world with our cellphone’s features. Imagine
Compass!
Productivity: The advent of well develop communication technologies facilitated
to increase life standards of human being
Mobility: Landline phones became history and being mobile while talking with
phone is natural thing in our era.
Time: Time is very precious thing to spend for communicating someone these days.
Thanks to cellphone technologies, we can get in touch with someone in any time
through our cellphone.
Banking,Billings and Shopping: Cellphones are very easy to use for paying bills and
shopping.
1) What Cellphone Enhances?
Worldwide mobile shopping statistics - Global Web Index Report 2014 Q4
1) What Cellphone Enhances?
Gaming: Game industry expanded with smartphone technologies
and gaming via smartphones has increased day by day.
Mobile gaming share of total gaming revenue worldwide 2008 - 2017
1) What Cellphone Enhances?
Mobile gaming revenue worldwide from 2008 to 2011
2) What does this technology replace?
Home phone usage decreased.
2) What does this technology replace?
Mobile phone technology replaced or has negative impact on:
• Desktop computers because Smartphone has almost same
features: WİFİ, Office Apps, Mail, Browsing etc.
• Stand alone cameras : you can make a movie with Smartphone :
• The film that was just captured by iPhone
http://webtv.hurriyet.com.tr/yasam/seyahat/bu-film-sadece-
iphone-kullanilarak-cekildi_31982
• Calculators
• MP3s Players, Music Players
All of these are result of the technological convergence.
3) What does this technology bring
to mind (or retrieve) from the past?
The smartphone technologies rekindle the belonging to a
community and its awareness. In past there is also
collaboration circle between human beings. Now community
conscious is empowered with cellphone and its features.
Also it retrieved the self- improvement potential of human
being. In past people tried harder to learn language or skills.
Now same people have struggled with smartphones.
It created the new type of socialisation way (sms) to adopt
society likewise telegrams, letters.
4) Reverses
When pushed to the extreme, smartphone technologies can cause:
• Distraction and obsessive behaviour because users are afraid of being
left out of social sphere, information village.
• Addiction and antisocial behaviour: Like gaming addiction, poor real life
experience compare to being social media phenomena because people
missed the joy of face to face interaction and chance of socialising in
real life.
A mobile game habit isn’t as physically dangerous as an addiction as heroin
or meth but the brain acts much the same way when it goes without
Conclusion
Consequently I believe smartphones are inevitable part of
our life. Being aware of this device or using it irresponsibly
is at our hand.
As the future of smartphones can be our “virtual personal
assistant” that decide what we eat, wear, watch, listen, do
by our directive but owns more initiative in our life.
Also imagine not just smartphone but also device that can
be run integrated with smart car, smart home.
