The document summarizes the influences and design choices for three pages of a magazine about blues music:
1) The front cover uses a blue-red-white color scheme and masthead to represent the theme. Images and layouts from other magazines informed the design.
2) The contents page also uses the color scheme for separation. Fonts, layout, and photo editing were used to make information stand out.
3) The double-page spread features a song chart, article, and images informed by magazine examples. The background, text boxes, and model positioning replicate styles from other publications.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

1. In what ways does your media
product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real
media products?
2. This is my front cover page, I have developed my front
cover over time to create this final product. I have used
the colour scheme of three different colours which are
blue ( as my main colour) , red (as my secondary colour)
and white as my third colour. I have used blue as my
main colour because it links to the theme of my magazine
(Blues) and my masthead name, this can symbolise that
it is big and bold and jumps out at the customer more to
pick up the magazine and read what’s in side. The colour
red helps the colour blue stand out to which they
contrast well with one another. The white also contrasts
with both red and blue making all three colours jump out
to the reader and helps the text stand out to be easier to
read. The white also links to the keys on the piano and
stand out as their own purpose. I have also used the
colour white to stand out all the text and the mastheads
so it can be separated from the dark back ground, the
white also gives the text a glow. I used my variety of
masthead names to come up with my final one ‘Chicago
blues’. I wanted to stand out so I used blue and white in
large don’t, also using photo shop tools I enhanced on to
make the masthead effective and stand out. The image I
have proceeded to use is in black and white to follow the
specification and my intensions to make the magazine
look expensive and classical. To fit my variety of age I
used colour to attract a wider audience and using a brick
wall helped me to show youth but also a classical blues
image. The top header bar helps me to promote my
magazine more with its golden effect and its formal font
style.
3. This is my contents page. I have used the same
colour scheme through-out my magazine to create
its classical feature and its character. I have produced
my contents page to a high standard using layout
and colour. I have developed my contents page by
starting with a background which I created separate.
The contents page consists of different areas which is
the main title of the page ‘Contents’, the photos,
the left hand third and the bottom text review. In
each section of the page a I have used colour to
separate the text so the customer will know which is
the title and the information. I have used different
sized text and used a variety of fonts to stand out
information that I want the reader to see. I have
used small text in the images so the reader knows
what is happening in the images and who it is. Using
large font, I have made the page numbers stand out
so that the reader can spot it straight away. I found
that white font was best to use for the title of each
text box, this is because it brought it to my attention
more then the other colours. In the images I used
layers to separate the models from their background
, this was done by coping the image layer and then
cutting around the models using the magic wand
tool, I could then make the background darker and
more blurred to make the models stand out. The
opacity helped me to use a white layer behind the
text but to be faited so the background can still be
seen but the text can easily be read.
4. This is my double page spread . I have used Photoshop and InDesign for this page. On the page I have used a music list of songs from the
models albums and tracks, in the chart I used my colour scheme to brake up the information so the customer can see what the different
between the name of the song and the given information about it. Also in the text box I have added a list of the up coming songs and albums.
I have added a masthead to the page that symbolises a music note table that musicians use. I have added a background of a acoustic guitar
because it reveals that the magazine is a music magazine but also blues musicians use guitars when playing their music. I made the
background black and white which I intended to do which helps the text and the images stand out. I used a slogan in the middle of the page
that reveals to the reader what the page is and what genre it is. Around the slogan I have created a cloud of blue spray with a artistic pattern
in it to make it stand out, on this I used blue which links to the genre as the colour the cloud. I have added the article for the page which I
have included a question and answer and other information about the models/ musicians I have used in my magazine. I used page numbers
to help the reader know what page they’re on, I used stylistic font to create its attraction. I used the red box to highlight and stand out the
other information I wanted the reader to see to inform them of the advertisements inside. I used my main model on the mage with a guitar to
help promote the mage more and let the reader know who the article is about.
5. • I used these magazines as my inspiration for my front cover as well as my
own intentions. I used the magazine Guitarist for its musical instrument
and how I could enhance on showing that my magazine is a music
magazine, this lead me to adding the prop piano. In Rock, I used its white
heading in the centre of the page to make it stand out. I also used the bar
code in the same position. I used Vibe for its textured background, I used a
brick wall to create the texture. I also used Vibe for its left and third text
boxes and I used its colour red because I noticed that it stands out a lot
and looks attractive on a dark background.
6. • For my contents page I used Pulse for its layout, I used the left
side third of the page to add what's on each page but split it
into sections e.g. features and every month. I used the top bar
from the middle image because I found it helped create the
classic look for the magazine, I added more detail to mine
though. I used the a variety of images close to each other like
the third image .
7. • For my double page spread I used these three magazines as my guidelines
as well as my intentions. I used the title of the page in the first image as
my inspiration for my slogan. I changed mine though to fit my specification
and my intentions to make it link to blues. I used the full page background
from the second image to create my guitar collage background. I used the
question and answer from the third image and the highlighting of the
question in a different colour. I also used the position of the model.
