How did you use media technologies
in the construction and
research, planning and evaluation
stages?
Music Video
From this I found artists that are of that genre and
researched them and the conventions of the genres using
mainly their websites for example we researched Taylor
Swift from looking at her Website.
Before making the music video I researched different genres of
music videos to decide what genre of music video the group
wanted to produce, the main genres we focused on
researching were Pop and Rock as the performer is a woman so
it fits the conventions of both the genre; whereas it would not
be conventional for a teenage girl to star in a Rap music video
therefore it would be inappropriate to use this and various
other genres. We researched genres using Google and initially
looking on Wikipedia for to find out the definition of the
genres.
Research
Research
I then determined the differences between the
two genres to determine which genre to use and
from that we decided on Pop. This was then all
displayed on a Prezi. After making this Prezi I
wanted to have audiences feedback to see if Pop
Was the right decision but also to find out things
like: how often they watched music videos, what their
favourite genre is and their gender among other
questions. I made this questionnaire using Google
documents and then made a slide share presentation
showing the results and my evaluation of the results.
From these results we
decided on sticking to
the Pop genre for our
music video and we
decided on “The one
that got away” By Katy
Perry.
Planning
We then had to plan who our target audience would be
and we decided on our target audience being woman
aged 13-30 and a made a Voki of a exempla target
audience named Amy who explains a bit about herself to
portray the sort of person our target audience would be
which I then embedded onto my blog.
I used a power point presentation to show which parts
of the song we would use for performance shots and
which shots we would use for narrative shots and
which would be used for both based on a analysis of
the lyrics. I also put next to the lyrics what the shot
would be at the time, the location and what would be
happening. Initially I just wrote notes on the lyrics I
had printed out but I decided to make it into a
presentation to made my planning more extensive but
also to make it clearer to read.
Planning
After creating the lyric analysis we all made the
storyboards based on the lyric analysis but with
more detail in it. We made them on paper and then
scanned them into the computer where I then
presented them on Scribd. I decided to use Scribd
as it can be presented as one blog post and in
chronological order so you can read it and imagine
exactly what the music video would look like.
I also created a mood board to show what I thought
should be included in a Pop music video by getting
conventional pictures of Pop from Google. This
helped to decide what to include and not include in
our music video.
Planning
When planning what mise en scene to have I made
a slide shared PowerPoint presentation of possible
outfits and then the final outfits, and then embed it
on to my blog. I also made Prezi’s of possible actors
to use and who would be suitable to produce our
music video.
We did a location shoot to decide where to film so
we took photos on the schools photography camera
of possible location and then evaluated these
location on a slide shared PowerPoint presentation.
Construction
In the construction on the music video we used one of the schools newer
camera as we used one of the Panasonic HD camera to get as good a quality
as possible. We kept the camera on a tripod to keep the picture steady as
wanted it to look as steady as possible.
Construction
We then edited it using adobe premier pro where we put in the footage and synced
the track to the footage. We then added effects to the music video such as adding
transitions between shots, editing the brightness of the shots, creating a split screen
effect using the crop tool and filming both shots in the same location and not moving
the camera and adding black and white to the narrative shots so that the audience can
distinguish between the performance and narrative shots.
Evaluation
We made a Facebook page for our production
company ‘Symphony Productions’ where as
suggests to people to join then they can join
where we can give them updates on our music
video but also they can evaluate our logo and
music video and give us feedback on our music
video.
Our music video is also on YouTube so we can
get feedback form that and evaluate what we
could have done differently but also through
YouTube we can see who is watching to see
which country our main viewers are from to
show us who are audience is.
Evaluation
I created a questionnaire on Google documents to
get feedback on both my music video and
ancillary tasks embedded a live form on my blog
with a slide share PowerPoint presentation of the
results. I have also included prezi’s as a form or
presenting my evaluation.
The main technology I have used all through my
music video is blogger as all my work can be
viewed from my blogger and it shows my
progression through the tasks.
