Question 6
Blogger
To conclude, different media technologieshad to workin conjunction
with one another in order for me to producean effectiveand
professional media product.
Blogger isan online blog publishing servicethat has
allowed me to commentate on each step taken towardsthe creation of
my magazinepages.
For example, I created several editing posts in order to explain how
certain effects/featureswere achieved.
Blogger allowed meto embed my presentationsconstructed using Prezi
and Slideshare onto my blog so that all my relativeinformation could
be congregated in one place.
Prezi
Prezi is online presentation software which allowed me to
present my information and content in a much more unique
and creative way. This makes the content much more exciting
my reader.
InDesign
The first editing application I was introduced to during my AS
course was Adobe InDesign, which I used for the development
my school magazine.
However, I found this application very hard to run and I felt
this was the reason my school magazine looked very amateur.I
therefore decided I would not continue using this application
when producing my music magazine.
Survey Monkey
SurveyMonkey is an online survey development site which I
used for the development of my survey for my primary
research. I sent this questionnaire out to my target audience in
order to receive information about their needs and wants in a
music magazine. Once responses were received, the site
creates more visually appealing ways to present the results,
for example a pie chart or bar graph.
Mobile phone
My mobile phone was used in order to keep in contact with the
models used in my music magazine so we could establish a
time and place to meet for the photoshoots. The apple notes
application on my mobile device (iPhone) was used to itemize
spontaneous ideas that could potentially be used in my final
music magazine, which without the app I would have
forgotten.
Camera
The camera on my iPhone was used to take pictures of the
locations of my photoshoots for evidence that the photos I
produced were authentic.
Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop Photoshop is an image manipulation
program that allows me to edit the photo's I'd taken, it was
extremely useful in the development of my media product and
made possible images which simply couldn't have happened
previously. For example on my contents page where the same
picture is used 8 times but in a different colour 6 times,
photoshop made this possible as I was able to manipulate the
image on the program. Not only that on the front cover of my
magazine I cropped the model's head out and placed it so that
the masthead could be seen but her head was over the top of it.
This simply wouldn't have been possible without new
technology.
Internet explorer
The internet was immensely helpful to me during this project,
not only during the research section of the project but also
through the creation of the blog which allowed me to
document the work that I'd done. During the research stage
the internet was extremely useful as it allowed me to look into
the forms and conventions of magazines and do some basic
research about magazines before I went to look at three
during my detailed research. Another aspect of the internet
that was particularly important to me was the blog. On the
blog I was able to document all of my research and show it in a
clear and concise way that wouldn't have been achieved or
supported by evidence such as pictures if it had been
handwritten. The blog was also used to keep a track of the
skills and experience I've gained through the production and
post-production stages of making my magazine. This proved
extremely helpful when coming to do the evaluation.
Movavi Video Editor
I used this technology to edit one of my video for the
evaluation. I found it quite hard to work on as I wasn’t used to
edit videos. I learned how to cut the video and also how to edit
to make it look better. I converted an audio track so when the
video plays there would be music on the background. This
made my video look more professional and more attractive.
I also learned how to used effects at the beginning of the video
between and at the final. However I didn’t like it because I had
to pay to remove their writings from my screen so I left them
there. I learned also how to manage my time as I had just one
hour in my school to make my video.
Instagram
Instagram was used during my questionnaire as I had to
involve some of my friends to answer me some questions. I’m
using Instagram regularly so I found it quite an easy
‘instrument’ to use. I published my ideas and my questions and
I also send some of the question on private.
Youtube
Because I was using other programmes to present my work
such as PowToon , Emaze , prezi a lot so I needed to find
another way to make my blog media look better. I decided that
for my presentation I would ask my friends to hello me and the
n I could upload the video onto youtube add backing music to
make it more interesting. Along with this, YouTube is a very
widely used social media website, therefore it allowed me to
get my content uploaded and shared quickly.
