Construction
USING DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGIES TO CREATE MY MAGAZINE
Process
I went through different stages to create my final product:
 Research and Planning to gather information on what will be
successful in creating a magazine.
 Drafting which outlined the main style of my magazine.
 Photography
 Creating the product.
 Evaluating everything from start to finish.
Photography
 I decided to purchase a DSLR for a professional photography look for
the shots featured in my magazine. I had experimented at first taking
pictures of random objects to find my photography style so I basically
taught myself how to use it.
 I learnt the basics of using auto and manual focus which helped with
the shallow focus that I chose to use in my photos and having pictures
unfocused on purpose for effect.
 Other features such as the shutter speed and lighting was more
frustrating to get the hang of because I didn’t know what any of this
meant until I actually took enough time to go through each setting. I
mainly used natural lighting and a fast shutter speed, apart from 2 shots
where the subjects were walking forward, to use for my magazine.
 I experimented with different angles and took photos without using a
tripod to allow more freedom in shots and the fact that the camera
was kept stationary on the tripod would make some shots harder to
execute than others.
Production
 I used Adobe Photoshop CS6 to create my front cover, contents
page and double page spread. I would have used a website called
pixlr if Photoshop decided to crash.
 Photoshop was quite complicated to work with during the
production as I was unfamiliar with most tools and settings but as I
worked on, I became more aware of what I was doing and I
realised that without Photoshop, creating the pages as instructed
would have been a lot harder.
 Photoshop helped with getting everything in line and cropping
images to size as well as taking out the backgrounds and layering
text over images and vice versa.
Showcasing
 I was instructed to put everything on wikispaces that related to the
construction as well as the research of my magazine. Some tasks,
including this, required a more creative showcase by using a
website such as Slide share to present my work. Other than that, I
used Microsoft Power Point to present most my work, convert it to a
JPG. and upload it to my personal wiki page.
