Evaluation Question 5
How did you attract/address your audience?
What did we intend to do?
 In our film we intended to make the audience feel sympathy towards our main
character Lucy, we also intended to create tension. We achieved this by portraying
Lucy as a vulnerable character, she also embodies some of the final girl aspects as
she grows stronger to stand up to her father.
 I feel we reached our target audience because it wasn’t too gory however the key
messages were shown through sound effects and camera angles.
What did we include when we were
planning?
 When we were planning we researched into similar films of the genre to get
inspiration and ideas.
 We chose to make our main character a young female as this would identify with
many other young females and intrigue them into watching the film.
 In the film we included some stereotypical genre conventions, such as a mirror and
a knife. This was to add some familiarity to the film as well as make the story line
make sense.
How did we use our audience feedback?
 We used our audience feedback to ensure our film would be a success and gain
attention from our chosen audience.
 Also we used the feedback to make alterations to our story line such as adding the
heavy breathing sound effects and the heart beat over certain shots to add tension
and create suspense.
What was unsuccessful in our film?
 One thing in our film that was unsuccessful was the fact that we didn’t show the
death of Lucy’s mother, this made the film slightly confusing as the audience
doesn’t actually know what is happening and only see Lucy on the steps with her
head in her hands uttering “no, no, not again” this could mislead the audience into
thinking that they are just having an argument.
How could we improve our work?
 To improve our work I feel we should have included the scene of David killing his
wife to ensure the storyline made more sense.
 I also feel that the graphology could be change into something different to suit the
genre and also change the colour.
