2. Lucy Jones
We used a young woman as our protagonist as people like to label women as psychotic and manipulative therefore we used
this idea with Lucy when she acts as though she can’t remember what happens and starts crying to avoid answering any
more questions we used a close up to present this. Women are also stereotypically weak, we used a high angle shot of Lucy
when she was searching for the knife to show that she was inferior to her father and had to result in killing him.
We presented Lucy as a teenager by showing her in college in the end clip, she wore her college badge to connote this and
the hallway was very ‘school looking’. Teenagers are usually associated with criminal behaviour so we wanted to follow
this farfetched stereotype by making a teenager a murderer.

3. Sophia Hunter
Sophia is Lucy’s therapist, we subverted a stereotype of women
by making her have an authoritive position. We demonstrated
this by making Sophia look professional with her clothing and
prepared as she has Lucy’s file ready on the table. However
women are very sympathetic and Sophia tries to understand
and be there for Lucy making us like her.
Sophia is upper class and again this is presented through her
job status and her smart clothing, we followed stereotypes as
she is white british which is usually the ethnicity that has
important jobs.

4. Lucy’s Parents; David and Louise Jones
Although Lucy’s parents aren’t shown they are mentioned quite frequently as the plot revolves around them. It is mentioned straight
away that Lucy’s father is an alcoholic and therefore we suspect him to be violent and out of control. After this piece of information
we fade out into a flashback and hear some non-diegetic sound of David shouting at Louise “This is your fault you worthless woman”
followed by a scream of a woman. This connotes something terrible has happened. This links to the Shining’s character Jack
Torrance as he shows parallels to David because he is extremely violent, an alcoholic and kills his family.
In the opening sequence Lucy’s parents aren’t shown but throughout the rest of the film we would see what they were really arguing
about and what happened. David ends up murdering Louise and he would be shown as the character with the most power because he
is a man. However we try to subvert stereotypes by giving Lucy the power as she kills him, this would show that gender and age
doesn’t mean you should be more superior to someone else. Louise would be shown as the damsel in distress and weak which women
are usually presented as, therefore both characters will follow stereotypes to a certain extent.
