2. Age
I implemented various features throughout my
production that were specifically designed to address
my target audience. Firstly, to address the fact that my
audience has an age range of 15 – 24, I used language
that was casual and only slightly formal with little
complex language. This way I could connect with my
audience in a way that doesn’t strain them and confront
them with words they don’t understand.
3. Festival Enthusiasts
I addressed those who were Festival Attenders and
fanatics through implementing secondary stories on my
front cover and my contents page. I produced a
secondary story on my front cover reading: ‘Holy Ship –
Our experiences on-board the floating festival’.
Hopefully, my potential audience would see this and
partnered with their interest in Electronic Dance Music
festivals, be encouraged to read on into the magazine.
4. Electronic Dance Music Listeners
To address my most important potential audience, those who enjoy
Electronic Dance Music, I formatted my whole magazine around the genre
and what it entailed. For example, the whole colour scheme for my
magazine consisted of colours that reflected features you might expect
from an EDM gig or festival such as Neon Blue to connote electrics or
energy and White to connote light. Along with the colour scheme my
production includes a satisfactory amount of images, articles and graphics
that relate to the EDM genre. For example on my double page spread I
implemented graphics that mirror electricity on the main image. The
‘electricity’ curves around the protagonist’s arms as he configures his DJ
equipment. This fits in with the genre and format of my magazine and
complements it well.
5. Producers
My audience also included people who were interested in in the
production of electronic dance music so I addressed them
through adding information as to how my ‘made-up’ artist
produced his music and what inspires him. Producers reading the
article may value this information and try it for themselves.
