My media product is an indie/alternative music magazine that adheres to typical magazine conventions such as the title, issue number, barcode and price on the front cover. It features an artist posing with a guitar against a plain dark background on the front cover. The content page and double page spread also use conventions like page numbers and images while sticking to a color scheme of pale blue, black and white to appeal to a younger audience, challenging conventions that typically use darker colors.

Media AS Evaluation Question One
1.
2. My media product meets the typical codes and conventions of a
magazine and adheres specifically to my chosen genre, indie/alternate
with a cross over of acoustic music. On the Front Cover I have typical
magazine conventions such as the title, a barcode, the magazine issue
number, a top line and the price. On the front cover I have the main
artist posing with a guitar and I have a plain dark background, which is
typical of my genre. I have additionally put the image of the artist
overlaying the magazine name. My content page and my double page
spread also use conventions of my media product. Both have the page
number, images of featured artists, and the title of what is on that
page. My magazine sticks to a colour scheme, however my magazine
challenges the codes and conventions as it has pale blue in the colour
scheme, along with black and white , I chose to do this as I wanted my
magazine to appeal to a younger audience . This challenges the codes
and conventions as indie/alternative with a cross over of acoustic
music magazines usually stick to darker colours and sometimes add in
brighter colours if it has some connection to the artist for example
clothing colour or hair colour.
