The document discusses the various media technologies used during the construction, research, planning and evaluation of a project. It summarizes the use of GoPro cameras, Nikon D5200 camera, Samsung Galaxy S5 phone, Powtoon, Final Cut Pro editing software, Prezi, YouTube, MacBook Pro laptop, and school Macs. The GoPro and Nikon camera were used to film various shots. Powtoon and Prezi were used in planning and research but Powtoon had issues. Final Cut Pro, YouTube, and the MacBook Pro were very useful for editing, uploading content, and allowing work to be done remotely. The school Macs provided access to expensive software.
How Media Technologies Were Used in Construction, Research, Planning and Evaluation
1. HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES
IN THE CONSTRUCTION, RESEARCH,
PLANNING AND EVALUATION STAGES?

GO PRO HERO
We used both the Go pro hero 2 and 3. These
enabled us to film shots that we would be unable
to film with a normal camera. Most of our video
was filmed with a go pro, however it was key for
the lake scenes. Along with the Go Pro we had a
case for it which was waterproof therefore we
were able to get it wet (use one of our locations;
lake). Also the chest and head strap came in very
handy as it meant that we didn't have to hold the
camera and could act normal and did not effect
our movements. The Go Pro gave different
dimension as it gave a 1st person experience and
made you feel as if you were a part of the video.
It also has great quality and battery life, which
enabled us to use it over a long period of time
without out changing anything.

NIKON 5200
The Nikon 5200 is a very good quality
camera. We used this camera for the
City shots, as it gave very clear shot
with great detail. Both easy to use
and light, therefore it was easy to
carry around London. The only
problem with this camera is that we
were using the default lens, which
was 18-55mm and didn't enable us to
zoom far in. However we adapted to
this easily by using different shots.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S5
▸ Only a small part of the music
video was filmed by the Samasung
Galaxy S5. For a phone the quality
is outstanding and had a great
depth of colours. However it looks
very unprofessional filming with a
phone. Also we were unable to
connect it to a tripod therefore we
were always filming handheld
which meant at time it was very
jolty.

POWTOON
▸ I have a lot to say for Powtoon, It was both hard
to use and was very slow. I was unable to get on
the format through my laptop which is a key
resource I use. Therefore this meant that I could
only do this on the school macs. I found that it
was hard to use as it would not upload pictures
resulting on it in the disconnecting from the page
and loosing all my work. Which made me furious!
I took this on board the next time I tried to
download a picture by saving my work before,
however the page was disconnected once again;
it went back to the past save, not the save that i
had just did. So once again I lost even more
work. It was at this point I realised I was wasting
my time with this format. I was using it for this
question however as you can see now I am using
Keynote, which is 100% better.

FINAL CUT PRO
▸ Final cut pro is a great editing software; which enables us
to use a range of effects and transactions. It was easy for us
to use as we had used it before in based projects. However
i believe if we had never used it before we would have
struggled at the main part of our music video was our
editing and cutting it to the beat. The only problem with
Final Cut Pro is that it costs £270 therefore I was only able
to access on the school computers as I didn't want to
purchase the product as I feel it is overpriced.
12. TEXT
PREZI
▸ Prezi was an easy to use format which
included a lot of technologies. We
used it throughout our planning and
research for analysing music videos.
It was very easy to use and fun to play
around with. It varied a lot as there
was loads of templates therefore
every post was different. You could
download various things, such as,
music, photos, videos, recording. All
of which where technologies we
wanted to include in our work.
13. TEXT
▸ Throughout the year we used
blogger to upload all our work on.
We uploaded a range of things
from music videos off of youtube to
pieces of work from different
formats, we even posted some of
our editing process. This made it
easier to look back at work as it was
all on one format. However at times
there were some malfunctions
when downloading work of certain
formats such as glogster.

SLIDE SHARE
▸ Slide share was used to upload
work completed on powerpoint
and word. As you are unable to
upload a powerpoint straight onto
blogger. Therefore this was the
only website we could use. It was
both quick and easy to use.
However we didn't use it very
often as we tried to use other
technologies and formats other
than powerpoint.

YOUTUBE
▸ I found that we used youtube throughout our project, and that it was a
great tool to use. We used it in our research and planning; for example
analysing music videos. Nearly every music video in the world is on
youtube and is by far the most popular broadcasting website. We also
used it to look at past student work, which enabled us to branch out and
to see what other school had completed. Throughout our work and post
we always tried to link a youtube clip into it as this helped us get our point
across and enables the audience to experience what we are talking about
first hand. Further more we used youtube to upload our music video as
this website reaches out to millions of people, and is a great way to get
your voice heard. It was both quick and easy to upload and we already
had a youtube channel due to the past work we have done over the years.

FORMATS
▸ As I was using my Macbook Pro for a considerable amount of
my work and I hadn't purchased powerpoint and work; I was
using both keynote and pages. Both of which were very similar
to powerpoint and word however I felt they had they had the
edge over powerpoint and word. This is because in keynote you
can present your work in many different ways and there is a
large variety of templates, whereas on powerpoint there is
limited. I would say that pages it nearly the same however it is a
bit easier to takes not on it and has more templates. All four of
these formats are easy to use and are handy to take down notes
and upload to our blog.

MACBOOK PRO
▸ Without this laptop I purchased I would have struggle to
keep up with the work as it would have limited me to the
school macs. However I was able to do task as home which
I would be unable to complete on my home desktop such
as editing pictures for my ancillary task. It was both quick
and easy to use and I took it everywhere. For example
when we were filming in London I took my laptop with me
therefore I was able to stop for a couple of minutes and
upload my footage onto the laptop. This enabled me to
get even more footage. Its my baby!

SCHOOL MACS
▸ The useful thing about the school
macs was that they had bought all
the expensive software such as
final cut and photoshop, which I
was unable to use on my Mac.
However the only problem with
the mac is that we had to use it in
school!
