Production Development
 We were weak in several areas when developing the music video, and although there is no
draft to prove our earlier weaknesses our strengths are shown within the final result and
these were the areas that we improved upon. Our use of Media Language were the subject
we had developed the most, due to that being weak.
 Editing – The editing wasn’t matching the beat originally and this seemed problematic
for us at first as it broke conventions and key concepts that were essential for our piece to
be successful within the genre we were trying to emulate, which is Visual Kei Metal.
 Camerawork – Our original shots were irrelevant and seemed useless within our
narrative, because we had shot the girl just walking around, however with the different
camera angles we used and camera work it allowed us to create a non-linear effect, and
make our
The Audience
 Our audience were new comers to the genre of Visual Kei, so this meant we got a unbiased opinion on
our video. We played the video to our teachers, friends and students within our School and got an
array of answers that were mostly positive, but did have constructive criticisms.
 Mrs Ogilvie, 2015 “It invoked emotions from within me that no other Music Video has done, the ideas
are very interesting with the visual representation at hand, however I’d prefer a different narrative as I
thought that was weak and wasn't explained very well.”
 Michael Tomes, 2015 “I thought the Music Video was professional looking and it impressed me,
however my opinion is slightly biased because I am not a fan of the style and genre of music it is
playing. However, I do believe it fits the stereotypes of the Visual Kei genre and I commend them for
that.”
 Billy Collins , 2015“Although the music video has strong representation, the editing style seemed off
to me, and it appeared like it was using distinct media techniques just for the sake of it, which made
the music video’s editing style seem irrelevant and inefficient. Overall the Music was well crafted and
I found it interesting the way the music video was handle, especially the narrative which made me
think.”
I didn’t really understand the intended story behind the narrative.
She seemed to just be walking around confused. I didn’t really see
why she was included in the video at all.
Other than that, some of the instruments seemed a bit out of time
and I think the video looked too plain for the genre.
We improved upon this by changing some of the shots of the girl
to make it seem less like she was just walking around.
We emphasised the grabbing of the barbed wire and the eating of
the berries more in the video. This allowed us to convey that the
girl was crazed and portray her correctly. We also looked back at
the video and corrected some of the timing of the instruments to
fit the song better and add some screen effects to make the video
look darker and grungier.
