1. What have you learned from
Audience feedback?

2. Creating a draft video
During the first few weeks of the A2 course we created a
draft video to test out what was possible given the
equipment we had available to us. Once we had finished
a rough version of this video I created a Facebook page
for our group – Slim Acorn. I then posted the draft video
on the page asking for any feedback or improvements
from Facebook users whether it was positive or negative.
3. Receiving feedback - Positive
I got several responses which stated the
positives, negatives and possible improvements.
Some positive aspects were the use of interesting
camera angles and the structure and progression
of the narrative. I decided to build on these
aspects in our main product by using similar
camera angles and making sure the narrative
had the same quality of progression.
4. Receiving feedback - Negative
Some negative aspects which were pointed out were the video being
far too dark at some points (this was something which all users who
gave feedback said) so much so that it was very difficult to see what
was going on despite the use of flash on the camera and also the
sound quality of the actors speaking at the beginning; it was made
clear that it wasn’t easy to hear what they were saying. To overcome
these two main problems in the main video I decided to film
everything during daylight hours so that all of the filming was clear
and take out any spoken acting so that the sound quality was only
determined by the quality of the music.
5. Improvements
An improvement which was suggested was to
use a song written by an established artist
instead of an original song which I had written
however I decided not to use this suggestion as I
had a lot of ideas for the narrative of the song
based on the lyrics I had written. By going
through this process I was able to note the
positives on which to build, the negatives to
improve and the suggestions for developing the
final piece.
